Aside from Canada, I've never been outside the U.S.........and really have no desire however, I have had about a dozen coworkers and acquaintances over the years, from all over the world and almost universally, they said that they did not particularly care for the U.S. They were only here to, "make money" (and then return to their homeland or somewhere else) and/or they wanted their children to go to school here. I have long suspected what this actor, 'CIA' agent, or whoever he is says here: 'Americans (especially of the last 60 or 70 years), are largely hated around the world, but we're tolerated because of our wealth.' The phrase, "The Ugly American" comes immediately to mind.
the american wealth vs. american entitlement point is super interesting. thanks for that. maybe a lot of internal problems could be chalked up to the entitlement point? like people growing up in a hypersensitive environment removed from the realities of aggression / violence and then assuming that’s the way the world works. God forbid those people encounter a person / culture that is violent and doesn’t play by their rules. that’s how they say the roman empire fell! they got soft and entitled - then the visigoths ate their lunch. good stuff, andy, ol’ buddy ol’ pal hahah
American arrogance and entitlement has only to do with American military success, the prosperity of the middle class, and the greatness of the American entertainment industry, in the 20th century, but also Americans were raised to be very patriotic and proud of their heritage and their rights.
Having money is no excuse for being an arrogant ass. It should make one be most gracious and appreciative of what we have. We all still breathe and bleed just like everyone else.
@@sittinandthinkin agree - i also would push back on how museseekerman is defining “patriotism.” if entitlement is the idea that one person deserves more than another by the circumstances of their birth, then their idea of patriotism involves thinking americans are “better than” / “more deserving” than other people, which is externally motivated and a bad value. being an american doesn’t make you better than any less developed nation, it makes you lucky, which you should be grateful and thank God for everyday. it is possible and preferable to be “proud to be me” without thinking “i’m better than you” - the difference between confidence and arrogance. i’d prefer a confident patriot to an arrogant one any day.
1:27 In Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan etc and other former USSR republics you have no issues whatsoever with anyone paying in US currency. You won't be able to pay directly for goods and services but it's always welcome in any personal interactions, especially if you don't mind to provide a little discount compared to the official exchange rate. Don't listen to this part, the guy doesn't know what he is talking about.
Kindof, depends on who you’re doing business with and what social groups you interact with I think he’s talking more about people you meet in public when traveling how most Americans travel and do so carrying the American entitlement

maybe this info doesn't apply to me so much because I don't travel out of the US, but I did just buy waterproof pants because I realized I don't have a pair. I always keep extra coats and layers in my car, just in case of a break down because I travel the Midwest for work. No matter the time of year, I have warm layers and a waterproof/win resistant layer and hats and gloves and a full face covering. Never know if I'll get stranded late at night or have to wait a few hours in cold or rain.
Not essential but very useful. Think of several things you could do with 2 shoelaces tied correctly together. Actually I don't think this guy has the ideal top 3 because an ounce of gold won't save your life in too many life threatening situations.
Have $10, £10, €10 in your back pocket. Most muggers need their next fix so if your at the wrong end of a pointy thing or worse the note will get rid of them quick. With expensive gadgets this is not as reliable as it used to be but still worth a try.
Don't count on people living in the Eurozone wanting US dollars. To use them you'd have to take them to a bank and pay charges to convert them. Think what the reaction of a US citizen in Florida or North Dakota or Mississippi would be to someone trying to buy help with Euro notes. Remember that $100 is only €95 You'd be far better just carrying Euros.
Gold carries its value thru all currencies. Or think of it this way. If the US economy collapses, $100 may only be worth 1 euro. While 1oz of gold may be worth 300 euros. Gold's value (intrinsic though it is) is in its rarity. While the $ is backed (in part) by the US economy.
It's only as valuable as the person you're trading with thinks it does. For example, gold has at best no value. Isay it all the time, I don't want your worthless gold.
@therealbzee these people are idiots they’ll believe anything. If banks crashed they think they’ll buy with gold. Pawn gold. Where? He’a appealing to those who believe the nonsense
@@theJellyjoker I actually agree, somewhat. I personally dont wear any jewelry or other 'decorations', because I find it a waste of money. But back to the point. Just because you find gold worthless doesnt mean someone else does too. Example: A 1oz solid gold coin has zero use if youre being hunted by foreign agents wanting to kill you. Unless someone is will to trade you safe passage, in return for a simple 1oz gold coin. Because for him, it may buy his family food for the whole year (and still have money left over).

Problem you have with assets like gold and silver and things really go south they will only help for a short period of time. The government in times of REAL disaster will recall all gold bullion/coins and you will have to surrender them back to them. You may well get a payment for them but the likelihood is that currency will be worthless. This happened during WW2 in the UK.

Even a pocket, emergency poncho, nearly disposable, can be a life saver. I highly recommend an umbrella, also. In addition to the mobile shelter it provides, duct taping a bundle of cheap “C wrenches” to the shaft, and you have a just improvised a concealed, deadly weapon. You can get out of a lot of bad situations with a great pair of footwear, something to keep precipitation off you, and money. You should also carry a lighter. A mini Bic is perfect, although the lighter (I carry 4 or 5 different fire making ways) I carry is a refillable, “peanut style” , called FireStash (by True Utility), on a keychain. My EDC philosophy is that if I am unlikely to carry it every day (if it’s too large, for example), I need to get something that fulfills its function that I WILL carry, or do without it. I don’t even carry a real knife, just a couple of Utilikeys.

Yes indeed hated most everywhere...
OMG I love when he starts "..most of the world HATES America..." and just calls out our bullshit.
In Russia in the mid-90’s American dollars were good to go!
Just not since Ukraine.
For the most hard-core of situations, those 1/4 oz gold coins might be stashed subcutaneously.
1/4?... Try 1/8
lol solid gold buttplug!🤣
Great advice for when I’m running reconnaissance in Africa…
the american wealth vs. american entitlement point is super interesting. thanks for that.
maybe a lot of internal problems could be chalked up to the entitlement point? like people growing up in a hypersensitive environment removed from the realities of aggression / violence and then assuming that’s the way the world works.
Kindof, depends on who you’re doing business with and what social groups you interact with
I think he’s talking more about people you meet in public when traveling how most Americans travel and do so carrying the American entitlement
@@jakelindsay522 Whatever the guy meant saying you are f***d in certain countries with US dollars, there is no other way to interpret him. Trust me, even now, with the rising tensions and the possibility of conflict between Russia and the West, it's still rare for a Westerner to be treated disrespectfully by ordinary people in former USSR countries. Show good manners, smile, and avoid trouble, and you’ll have a positive experience paying US dollars or any other western currency.
@ yeah agreed

@maxvoloshin7074 the thing to keep in mind is that trading with gold is for an emergency situation.
early 1900 it was not even legal to carry gold on you :)
maybe this info doesn't apply to me so much because I don't travel out of the US, but I did just buy waterproof pants because I realized I don't have a pair.
Why are shoes with laces essential. There are shoes with fast laces, too. Arent they similar useful?
I wear slip on shoes like skechers. No laces needed
Not essential but very useful. Think of several things you could do with 2 shoelaces tied correctly together.
Actually I don't think this guy has the ideal top 3 because an ounce of gold won't save your life in too many life threatening situations.
He's seen to many people in sandals/slip-ons get into dangerous situations, get their feet wrecked and then it's over for them.
Breitling in the thumbnail, sketchy AF.. 😎
Remember that $100 is only €95
You'd be far better just carrying Euros.
B.S. in Latin America everyone knows the dollar value, and they will actually short you in an exchange
You're not short changed if it keep you alive let alone mission accomplished. He's talking emergency military situations not tourist trappings.
Nice Rolex rootbeer
I would argue we are undereducated compared to the developed world like Europe, orherwise good video. Useful info
Gold is worthless on the street.
100 gram combi bars are a great investment for gold
Can someone explain to me how gold would be used if we lose all value of money and no one can access money for cash?
Gold carries its value thru all currencies.
Or think of it this way.
If the US economy collapses, $100 may only be worth 1 euro. While 1oz of gold may be worth 300 euros.
Gold's value (intrinsic though it is) is in its rarity. While the $ is backed (in part) by the US economy.
It's only as valuable as the person you're trading with thinks it does. For example, gold has at best no value. Isay it all the time, I don't want your worthless gold.
Gold will mean nothing to the hungry or to the person needing shoes or tools. Goods and services will be bartered. Have a trade.
What about the fact that most places won’t exchange any bill less than 100$ bill. And must have no flaws
1:42 omg soo trueee
Was this the guy who snitch on his roommate in the air force??
LOL yet I see all these EDC Tacti Cool Dorks out there with their Fancy Knives, RFID Wallets, Titanium Gear , Wearing Contractor 'wannabe' clothes.
YET HAVE NO TRAINING WHATSOEVER. Simply Hilarious.
Good luck in UK.
Andrew means “cache” not “cachet” which do not mean the same thing.
This guy again, telling all of his CIA "secrets" haha. True comedy.
No matter what you might think of him, or for that matter what I think of him, a good portion of his suggestions are practical. I do a significant amount of international travel, and I developed a similar list of items & tasks prior to seeing a few of his videos. I am not one who believes 100% in "self-help", or "...trust me, I was someone important..." talking heads videos such as his, but you can garner a few pieces of info from them, and then make you our plan or knowledge base.
Since he's already telling the CIA secrets - Maybe he should also tell how they wacked JFK, that would be interesting to know actually.
The edc my mom teached me 😂 and trust me 100bucks in thailand doesnt do much either now lol
Too many Russians there now.
In some places in the real world 50 dollars ...get you proofed....but depends who you give it to!
If you don't know...the rug rats....they go home to the family....the family looks after you...
😁 In Africa having USD doesn't mean you are an American. Everybody uses dollars. This mzungu never cops to being a USC. I pass as Mexican.
was it fun to be in the CIA please tell me im just wondering sorry
My EDC is not based on 3rd world. I think you need to carry a little more cash than some 5s and 10s.
I would say, listen to Andrew because he is a smart guy, but that's your channel so I'm not gonna say that haha.
Everybody keeps dollars in Belarus. First hand experience.
Hey! Americans are not even allowed to eat raw milk cheese... 🤣
Random question what about storing gold chains?
@ramblr5900 around your neck. I'd suggest that they be 24K. That way the chain could be broken up and traded easier than 14 or 18k.
@ 24k chains exist? Makes sense why gold sold out at costco
@ramblr5900 they do. 24k gild jewelry is very popular in Asia. If that's what you're used to, 14 or 18K looks trashy. The good thing about 24k gold jewelry is that no matter how banged up it gets, it's minimum value is the daily price of gold. Solid investment.
Unless it's deer season, that will be strapped to the hood of any vehicle depending on where you live. Now to be honest if you're in Appalachia you may see that 12 yr old taking a hog to the butcher. But to be honest. Most would just butcher the animal them selves
I swear I saw you at my dealership for service lol you definitely looked unsuspecting and the clothes were very defusing. I was thinking if this is him, he does a good job of not being noticed. If I didn't notice the hair I would have thought nothing of you! Then again it could have been a different guy
1. He failed to clue in that not everyone watching the interview will be going over to Cambodia! Some are just looking for American EDC as as the interviewer said, "Is $100 enough?". For small things yes, but carry more in USA or even Canada.
2. The interviewer failed to see what he was talking about 1/10th oz gold. Know the exchange rate in the country, why give an ounce of gold when you could have gotten a flight for 1/10th the gold? You can't just go around flashing an ounce of gold as a solution to every situation. Drive to the airport 1 oz, fly me 1oz, bribe the border guard on the other side 1 oz.
This guy carries around a laptop and says it’s Russian disinformation.
where is his waterproof layer in this video, because ive been waiting for the dollar and the us economy to collapse for decades and yet the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, and ive got all these canned yams gathering dust in my bunker.
Ah no, when this happened in the USA they just didn't turn the gold in. Keep quiet as to what you have and possess physical silver and/or gold.
@ agreed, but (apart from jewellery) if you have any gold bullion or the like it is registered to you, so they know where to go.
Wanna watch the Italian taxi driver laugh in your face with your fist full of dollar bills. This is so delusional
Anyone know the details on the waterproof layer? What size are we talking and for what specific purposes?
a jacket..
Goretek
And merino wool on top of mesh base layers with the goretek on top is the best
Any big garbage plastic bag to cover up , use like be a homeless near a garbage disposal , and nobody will pay attention to you , and when put on you rub some dirt , oil residue from a nearby car to put on your hand and face and you be almost invisible for the rest of society… camuflage at cheapest prices 😂
I don’t even carry a real knife, just a couple of Utilikeys.
what is a 1/10th oz of gold? are they referring to a 1/10 oz american gold eagle coin?
Any coin that weighs 2 to 3 grams really. Any mintage.
Why shoes with laces ?
More secure, ie. don't wear loafers that can get pulled off your feet by a misstep while running.
@ I don’t wear anything but Chelsea boots I haven’t for years it’s a very English thing
@@dave_724 You wear girl boots? They were designed for Queen Victoria. lol It's an English thing. I have casual Chelsea boots but in the market for a nice smooth dress leather pair that will take a good polish. Chelsea boots that fit well are also a good choice for disasters as they can be quickly slipped on with no laces but more secure than low cut slip ons.
@ I’ve various from work types for the farm to formal pairs my doc martin style ones I’ve have are my favorites
@@dave_724 Give that poor lady her boots back.
Over educated? A lot of Americans can't find a lot of countries on a world map! 😂
Yet have produced more Nobel Prize winners than all other countries combined.
His fear mongering about the US having a crisis where gold rules over cash is BS.
Have you noticed a lot of RUclipsrs advertising gold either overtly or covertly on their videos these past few years?
if things go tits up money aint gonna be worth shit
I think this guy ran for coffee in a CIA office picking up vulgar language along the way .
Do you carry E Coli for biological warfare? I do.
You are full of shit. 🤣
No sh!t… 😜
Andrew, you are the fucking man! Thank you so much for your content. I also love the podcast where your wife is on there with you. Looking forward to more frequency with that in the future.
Anyways, what the fuck are you talking about when you say some sort of water protective layer? Be specific. Is it one type of material that is waterproof and multipurpose, or are you looking for something to cover your head or torso or feet…?
❤ U 🙏🏽
You lost me when you said Americans are over educated 😂😂😂
Bros saying nothing.. joe Rogan listeners really acting like this guy is a genius 😂
Over-educated? I don't think he means that, surely?
You won’t be fucked in Ukraine, cause in Ukraine everybody have savings in Dollars and Euro. It will show that you’re a foreigner, but still will get you out of trouble.
But if you’ll find yourself on the frontline, especially in Russian captivity, you’re fucked either way.
When the guy said that USD would "f you" in Ukraine and russia, he immeditely lost all credibility. 😂
This dude is stuck on gold for some reason
Small bills aren’t usually accepted at the exchange points around the world. $100, $50, $20, maybe, $10, but no one needs your $1 bills. Also, no one gives a damn if it’s USD or EUR, or any other currency that is exchangeable. People like it, because usually in the places this guy mentioned, those currencies have good exchange rate, that’s it.
Also, “USD will fuck you in Ukraine” - lol, wut? The whole tech sector in Ukraine gets salaries tight to USD and then converted. USD is *the* currency people keep their emergency stash in. WTF? This dude has no freaking idea what he’s talking about.
This could be summarized by just saying money
Hmm.. A lot of USD currency circulate in Ukraine, exchanged it many times and never had any problems.
Waterproof cloths?
In cool wet places that layer stops you getting very cold. Not everyone lives in hot dry desert or tropical heat.
❤🤙
No average person in any country orher than the US is going to do shit for gold. Just saying.
Doesn't work in Francophone country. $5 aint nothin for a FCFA country.
So, which mistake could put you in danger?
"overeducated" ??? ...compared to third world countries..... Compared to any other first world country is is actually really extremly undereducated.
Gold is $2800.000 an ounce what planet are you on? With premium it’s over $3Grand.
Why don't we ask Edward Snowcone?
In Chile and Argentina the minimun wage is around $500 US. And the base paper bill is based on €1. Most people would accept Dollars or Euros.
US dollars dont really work anymore in Europe , sincer we've switched to thé euro currency... Plus, on thé curent exchange market, thé euro outbeats thé dollar.
I don't want your worthless gold.
It's fools gold.
