But you are just referring to the master royalty correct? I am wondering about the songwriter splits too. Is that all done via the PRO and publishing admin?
Awesome video! Thank you because I have been trying to figure this out for a week. But this really helps for collabs and features. Thanks distrokid!! I’m upgrading my membership tonight to my own record label and Spotify verified checkmark!! I xcited!!! -2 Geez
Does the team have to Be Distrokid registered to collect their cut? Also how do you save & edit a release when you’re waiting on the track or artwork etc Is there a save button?
@@DeeBanga is that $20 a month or yr? $20/month just to BE ABLE to collect ur profits which may not even reach $20 seems scammy!... They should at leastttt make it so that the artist can enter the split %s, *see* the profit splits as $ comes in, and then manually transfer their producers, features, etc, their cut on a regular basis (if distrokid does biweekly for example; then the artist can do that), instead of forcing those collaborators to pay for a membership they don’t want!
Relationships often sour in this industry, As a Producer I am often verbally offered a large percentage of the overall royalties to put my stamp on the music. I want the artists I produce to be able to upload under there account. But how can be guaranteed to get paid in the future if the artists uploads and they have the ability to delete me as a team member whenever they want?
I had the same exact question. Did you figure this out? When you are added to a team, do you get a msg explaining how much will you get? If the % is changed by the person who uploaded the track and initially added you to the team, do you get another email? Thanks
Hi, I am interested into signing up for DistroKid, but I have a question that I couldn't find on the FAQ and forums. If I pay for a year. What happens if I get signed to for example Spinnin Records after 6 months? Will I be able to release songs through Spinnin Records and make sure it gets on my Spotify Artist page? What happens if I stop publishing through Distrokid after 12 months? Will I keep my Spotify Artist page, because I also have songs on there that are being released through Spinnin Records?
What about a performing credit ? Like if you create drums but have someone lay the drum tracks down, can you give them a performing credit? Also does the public see the name credits?
if the uploader can change it any time, how does that help all the people who are supposed to get their cut forever? What are the industry standard cuts for all the people involved such as songwriter (words vs music), producer, musicians, sound engineer?
How is it that people get paid via an email address? Is it like an eTransfer, where the email will have them launch into their online banking for deposits? I guess I'm just trying to figure out how the funds are exchanged ( no credit card or paypal facilitating here, just an email address? ).
I just signed up for the first time, happy to see how easy it is to share profits. I have to say though as a producer some parts of this video did make me a little sad
If my producer is giving me a 50 split on an album do I need a DistroKid account or by them putting my email down for half royalties and me getting the code you send to my email can I get paid that way ?
Thanks a lot. so if the writer has bought commercial use of the singer voice. IS there a spot for the writers percentage in this case it would be a hundred percent. Would only the singer's name be in the music libraries or the writer as well. I'm new to this
Is it possible to register a song and include the producers name so it is visible when people listen to the song but put 0% for the producer (if you already paid the producer for example)? Do the producer then get a mail even without a share of the profits? Seems like that could confuse the whole agreement between parties
i have a question... ian have enough money for an extra that i put on and it keeps saying to choose a new card... is there a way to just remove the extra?
I don't have my own account but I'm under a label/team account. When I was shown the numbers it states 0. Also 0%of splits. How do you switch from whose plits they are.
I've been asking this for a while. Please answer. I have a artist who has a musican plan and wants to do splits with me. I don't have a musican plan. Can i still receive the split commission?
I have a Problem with Distrokid. I want to know exactly wenn my Song are buy. I want to see how much i sell or just receive notification when someone buy the song but it s no posibile to see that.
Distrokid splits your mechanical royalties, under which songwriting/composition would fall. Distrokid does NOT, however, collect performance royalties (performance of the Master Recording in public), you should register with a PRO (either ASCAP or BMI) to make sure that you're getting all of your money!
I’m with TuneCore but my co-writer is with Distrokid and he is setting it all up as far as the split thru Distrokid. Will I need to get an account with Distrokids?
Mon3ywar Put any email address that goes to them. They need the code we send them. They can then sign up up with that email address or any other email address they want.
So if I have a distrokid account, and I get featured on someone's song and they do a split with me, does the email help me to connect the money to distrokid and I take it out like I would take out the rest of my royalties? Or do I have to do PayPal email?
That's great for Record Producer's when negotiating *"points"* on an album or song for the Master Recording. Instead of the Artist manually going through the hassel paying me, I can receive my Producer Royalty Points automatically direct deposit.
If me and my friend are dropping a song together but we are separate artist and this will be the first time we drop music would we need 2 separate distrokid accounts or just one ? So in the artist name we put each other with the & symbol ?? Anyone help ??
If you have a publishing deal and in your contract they say we quill take let’s say 5% of every track you are responsible to get that 5% to your publisher

My question is: If the collaborator is not a Distrokid member, does he has to pay $10 for each track or is it a one time payment for unlimited track?
So once they get the email how do they get their money ?
By making an account
Through their PayPal email basically

How do i use this in the lable pack ? For example, we have four artist and i want each artist can get his roalty for his own song...
What if the artist drop a song you produced and hes not giving out credit
So would that be their Paypal email address I would need for them to get paid, how does that work?

if a songwriter was added to a song split 1 year later.. will it retroactively pay them back? or just start paying them from when you added them
What is your security measures for putting in your SSN?
The producer should be the one who's paid the most imo 😆 I want to see how a singer/rapper would make it without music
