bro it's so nice having someone explain this in simple terms. my chemistry teacher is a really smart guy, but he can get too complicated with things and it really throws me off. you explain everything really clearly. thanks for everything you do!
at 5.07 , q rxn equals qc which is wrong bc it must be multiplied with a minus (-) later in the video he does it the correct way so don't get confused.Thank you for another great video living legend.
Professor Organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for a short and detail analysis of a Bomb Calorimeter versus Coffee Cup Calorimeter which includes Constant Pressure and Constant Volume in AP/General General. The example in this video is an excellent way to break down Coffee Cup and Bomb Calorimeter problems in Modern Chemistry. This is an error free video/lecture on RUclips TV with the Organic Chemistry Tutor.
8:32 When I was in high school in Australia (1988), the standard was the carbon atom at exactly 12. The oxygen standard (16 by definition) was my father's era (~1960).
I m wondering what means by constant pressure and constant volume,I just said to myself the volume/pressure remain constants in the system, but I don't understand why the system are said to be constant pressure/volume?
My professor just kinda blitzed though how you get to "if its a combustion reaction, it will be giving off heat, meaning it's exothermic, so that means that the heat energy of the surroundings will be positive. If the surroundings of the reaction are positive, then that means the reaction is exothermic, giving off energy, so that means a + Qc = -rxn." My professor just went though the short version of it with the equations
I highly doubt that someone will se this by later today but I have a question -- how do you know to make qc negative? Like do you just ask yourself if it's endothermic or exothermic- endo being negative and exo being positive? Also if you know the answer to this then can you also give me the 'common sense/logical' explanation as to why this is?
do you know what endo and exo means? byt your explanation you just memorize the symbols he gives. he explains it many times over. Maybe you jumped to this chapter without going over the "lecture and examples" he provides. Endothermic means it absorbs the energy /heat, exothermic means it releases the energy/heat. another way endo = indoors. what keeps all the heat without the object you are looking at /system. what exo=outdoors. what let all the heat out of the room/system. as he mentioned in his previous videos. for chemistry the POV is from the system, for physics the POV is from the surroudings.
It wasn't ignored. The energy that was absorbed by the water is reflected in the change in temperature. When you multiply this by the heat capacity you get q for the calorimeter which is -q for the reaction. Energy absorbed is reflected in this value.
Constant volume refers to the gas above the liquid not the volume of the container. Your average coffee cup is not air tight in the same way a calorimeter is therefore its exposed to the atmosphere at 1atm or constant pressure. The air tight calorimeter is the opposite situation. It is air tight so no issue with the volume of air changing but pressure will not be constant during the reaction. Hence the delta n x R x T adjustment that needs to be made.

brooo, you're honestly clutching in with all of these thermochemistry videos! thanks.
Thank you for being my chem teacher.....
Same
@Everett Karter yea, have been using flixzone} for years myself =)
but ur prof gives u harder problems on the test 😩
was literally crying, thinking I was gonna fail my quizzes but found this vid 🙏

Just want to say that I have learnt more chemistry from you than in 2 years of University
Me too ❤
dude you must have graduated by now congratulations
Literally, the topics of what will be on my exams are the titles of your videos. Thank you!!!
i feel so blessed having discovered your channel

youtube: you need at least 10 minutes in each video if you want sponsorship in your videos
OCT: Hold my TI-84
Thanks a lot, this helped very much.
Your voice is so ahh ASMR lol I love hearing it
Thanks a lot sir.... Was really in need of this!!
Bro literally saved my chem results. 😳😅😅😅😆😆😆
you explain things so well! thank you
Bro is a life saver ong love you bro
THANK YOU SO MUCH MY TEST IS IN 30 MINUTES
Good luck!
Katelyn Diaz how’d it go?
@@DivineSeaDragon we'll never know
How was the test?
THANK YOUUUU!!! 🖤
Thank you for this wonderful explanation
Very explanatory video! Also, may I ask what software you use as a digital whiteboard
Stephanie he has a video called youtube equipment
Is the conversion for mililitre directly proportional to that of the grams? .
I mean they got the direct 150ml

bro you are the best of the best
You have the best outros
How does he say "calorimetry" so damn fast?!?! AHAHAHHAHAHAH GEE THANKS
sir plz make videos on molecular spectroscopy.....lots of confusion in entire topic.

Amazing
I will come back if I pass my thermochem exam
Okay this makes me think you failed, tells us how you did!
@@munch2563 omg I forgot about this but I come back with good news! I passed LOL
@@ggldocs yay!! So proud of you
wait but you left 2.3 as kilojoules instead of converting to joules, even though the specific heat capacity of water is in joules?
Is this helpful for JEE ? If yes does it help for Jee Mains or Advanced or both ??
Thank you!
thank you so much omg you are the best haha
Why did you ignore the energy absorbed by water in the bomb calorimeter problem?
It wasn't ignored. The energy that was absorbed by the water is reflected in the change in temperature. When you multiply this by the heat capacity you get q for the calorimeter which is -q for the reaction. Energy absorbed is reflected in this value.
Hi, I am a bit confused on how the coffee cup calorimeter is not constant volume if the coffee cup maintains same volume. Can someone explain?
Constant volume refers to the gas above the liquid not the volume of the container. Your average coffee cup is not air tight in the same way a calorimeter is therefore its exposed to the atmosphere at 1atm or constant pressure. The air tight calorimeter is the opposite situation. It is air tight so no issue with the volume of air changing but pressure will not be constant during the reaction. Hence the delta n x R x T adjustment that needs to be made.
fantastic
life saver
Sir Plz keep the Volume high 😃
thank youu
These videos are great but I don't have the patience to watch them
I hope you live forever
why dont we use q= mc^t.... my is it just q=c^t
cuz q = c∆t for heat capacity but q = mCs∆t for specific heat capacity. heat capacity and specific heat capacity are 2 different things
