The original idea for this video was just going to be like my "Top 25" MKWii shortcuts but then I got carried away. There are over 100 shortcuts, strats, and glitches in this video and none of them are just basic grass cuts or anything super easy. Even the "Basic" category has great stuff!
The bottom right shows a meter that increases in intensity through each category starting all the way to the left and ending to the right. The mushroom icon at the top indicates how many mushrooms were used in the process of the shortcut. I didn't show it for non-shortcut clips since it's unnecessary.
Classic Controller Pro was used for every single clip except the Mushroom Gorge one in the "Miracle" category. For that one, I used the Wii Wheel since it's oddly easier with that controller. Every clip in this video was performed by me and is non TAS. Some of them took 3+ hours just to make a single time. Long story short, getting footage for this video was absolute torture at times. :P
No one has ever made a video quite like this and I'm sure you guys will enjoy it. It's the most work I've ever put into a video and because of that, I'm hoping it gets lots of recognition. :)
I don't think I'll ever be able to make another shortcut video as good as this one unless "Mario Kart 9" or future Mario Kart's somehow find a way to be as crazy as MKW is.

16:29 Inspiration : As someone who absolutely loves shortcuts & glitches , this is a video I've always wanted to make but never was crazy enough to attempt it... until this year. I estimate this took over 60 hours to get the footage for and another 10+ hours to edit. I started in january and finished it on March 20th. This is my favourite video game I've ever played and I wanted to do it justice by making this video and showing how incredible it truly is.

I remember staying up so late to play worldwides online.Time would just breeze by and suddenly it would just be 3am lol. I remember when you posted your WR of maple tree course with the crazy SC and it was the most surreal thing to see. Watching these videos gives me such a big sense of nostalgia. Now I'm 19 and facing the responsibilities of adulthood, damn life was a lot easier back in '09-'13

This guy spent years playing the game and some of these shortcuts can take hours to pull off.
Most of the shortcuts in this vid are hit and miss with any level of consistency. So no don’t feel like crap lol
The controls with mkwii for me just aren’t smooth, consistent, as I’d like for some of these shortcuts. Especially in the flow of a race. Practicing obviously helps. But even then you could do it almost exactly the same each time - and still be hit and miss. Even in time trials.

The Problem is that if you touch anything but the graphics you potencially make it worse if you get it
MKWii will probably always be like SM64
A huge hit at the time/years after release but Nintendo doesn't really touch it again because it's their masterwork
Morgan and allow the switch to be hacked specifically for the game so you can have custom tracks ;)

I wish MK9 could be like MKWii, but we are way too optimistic when looking to the future. Remember when people thought MK7 would overtake the whole MKWii community?
Even though people say MKWii is the Melee of the Mario Kart franchise, I honestly think it's the SMB4 of the series, where it combines competitiveness and casualness together perfectly. With things like karts/bikes, auto/manual, and numerous strategies, I'm surprised Nintendo hasn't yet caught onto the fact that pretending MKWii never existed is going to do nothing more than prevent them from ever making another good MK game, at least not one with the same kind of community.
i hope mk9 is like mkw but with dif tracks more charaters ( hammer bro)

***** I totally agree with you, Nintendo really fucked up Mk8, mainly in the sense of the elements that make Mario Kart Mario Kart. Lakitu makes the game a fucking prison, there's no variety of SCs, there's not really any strategy, I wouldn't be surprised if the game is mostly dead by next year, if not before that. If not for the DLC, Mk8 would be dead already. I used to be sad that I couldn't afford it, but now I'm glad I saved my 400+ dollars. I'm glad that Mkwii was a huge and amazing part of my childhood, but these kids now don't know how truly amazing MK can be... and it's only going to get worse... ;( I don't know what you think of Mk7, but for me, Mkwii was the fun game that introduced me to MK games, and Mk7 is the game I got really good at and honed my skills, I love them both soooo much!

As critical as I have been of some of your videos in the past, I think might be your best video. It's exactly the kinda video that is needed and people want to see. No other video has really bothered to compile a comprehensive list of shortcuts just because of the sheer amount of work it requires, not to mention skill and patience. A thoroughly enjoyable video throughout and nostalgic in many ways as the video almost acts as a progression of discovery in the game and revisits shortcuts from the very start of it all. 10/10

Mario Kart Wii is definitely the most chaotic MK of them all. I played the game for the first time in about 2 years and completely forgot how much swearing this game made me do.

Many of the shortcuts in the advanced section seem to be much harder than the miracle ones. LOL I can make GV2 glitch in 3 tries, but can't make the RR kart shortcut in 20

***** That's not what they're comparing. They're comparing how Mario Kart Wii defined a big competitive era of "Mario Karting," the same way that Melee did. MKWii is the Melee of the Mario Kart Series.

I used to be a speedrun MKW many many years ago. Its been over a decade. I was really, really good. The meta has come a LONG way! I remember pioneering the Dry Dry Desert Shrrom Sand Hop way back in like 2010. I used it to hold a national record for a brief time. I dont speedrun anymore. I just gotta say, you guys have taken the meta so far. Great work.
