This kind of photography, together with the slow pan and tagging of landmarks really helps put this into perspective! Thank you, definitely worth the effort you put in to this.
The engineers, heavy equipment operators, public safety workers, scientists and all others involved in saving valuable infrastructure, should be publicly acknowledged for their incredible work during these 11 eruptive events. People, such as yourself, Gylfi, deserve acknowledgement for your incredible chronicling of these amazing natural occurrences.
That’s exactly the best comment…. I visited here in June of this year (2024) I visited the famous Blue Lagoon, I saw with my own eyes, the absolute feat of engineering of the strong, brave hardworking Icelandic people, the perimeter building of huge pyramids circling to protect the surrounding area, is absolutely staggering, new roadways put down, tarmac edging to perfection, I was in awe of watching workers in heavy machinery on top of these barriers to protect the surrounding areas, was by far the most incredible, dedicated thing I have ever seen in my life… these people of Iceland, deserve full recognition worldwide, the scale of what they were achieving, in one word, “STAGGERING’ you cannot comprehend the massive scale of work unless you see it from your own eyes by being there… well done to everyone involved ❤
We were there in July. Awesome place, awesome country. 3 days was not enough to more than scratch the surface. I want to go back.Take a month, campout, Catch fish, just absorb the pure austerity .
That’s the best overview flight I’ve seen of the current eruption and boy does it give you the perspective that explains the narrow escape the Blue Lagoon and Power Plant have had thanks to the relentless work of the berm teams. Man versus Nature is a tight contest but Man is holding his own so far. Wonderful footage, Gylfi, beautifully captured in perfect conditions. 👏👏👏
Unbelievable😮 8m of lava. In summer I've been driving on this burried road to the parking of the blue lagoon because I wanted to see the berms "live" and now there is all this lava. Looking forward to June 2025 when I spent my 4th holidays in beautiful Iceland and hope I can visit Grindavík and its restaurants and have a look at this unimaginable amount if lava
Its morning for me and my first video of the day is the beautiful Iceland view from your drone. I love the captions that you add in. Thank you Gylfi, hope you have a good rest tonight (Iceland time). Sending you greetings and best wishes from NZ.
A wonderfull video, high quality and a lot of info. The amount of strengh the icelandic people show matches the amount of lava. Thank you, Gylfi for the high quality of your work. No sensational grab for viewers but pure high quality.
The beautiful landscape on one side and the destructive power of lava flowing ,on the other ,only in Iceland ! Thank you for such an artistic description of what is going on !
It seems a rather happy ending this time, certainly also thanks to the workers with their heavy machines. Every time the repairs seem to be finished faster, i hope the road will not be too hot😁. Thank you for the update.
It occurs to me that not even 70 or 80 years ago people didn't have the heavy equipment that they do now to build those berms as big and high as those workers did in iceland. It's amazing that they were able to redirect the lava and save the town and power plant. 😊
This is absolutely wonderful. Beautiful to see and enough information to help understanding. I wish I had been able to access videos like this when I was teaching geography; so much better than textbook pictures, or my woeful attempts on the board. Thank you Gylfi.
Moments before I read this, I had the same thought - what a wonderful addition for teachers to capture their students attention and imagination! Gylfi, you are providing an invaluable educational resource. Kudos and many thanks, wen Oregon USA 👍👍👍❤️
Gylfi, some great aerial footage there, to really put the recent eruption into perspective. I was amazed that 8m of lave now sits on the BL car park, that's not something you can move easily.
This was a beautiful video, Gylfi. The lighting was so perfect, giving shadows that highlight the various features; your choice of music was just perfect. And your text labels were very clear, and added meaningful information to the video. Very nicely done!
Tenéis un país salvaje y precioso. Los trabajadores luchan como gladiadores. Tu trabajo también es admirable, arte frente a la naturaleza salvaje y brutal. Muy bien. ❤
Beautiful video !! Thank You for labeling area's for us !! Really appreciate that !! They have done amazing work!! Beautiful landscape photography !! Your work is beautiful !! Thank You for another great video 📷 !! ❤ It !!
Amazing shots of the blue lagoon and surrounding area your drone has done you proud ❤ always a pleasure to watch your channel Gylfi best regards from the uk 🇬🇧 to Iceland 🇮🇸
Your panning speed is perfect to let us time for taking everything in. It is just right. And it gains another quality when it follows the steam from the power plant.
Thank God that the earth is resting a little, as hopefully the tireless workers who secured the Blue Lagoon and the power plant with their wall. Stay healthy Gylfi and thanks a lot for this video.
This is really wonderful footage. My partner & I visited the Blue Lagoon at the end of July and we have been riveted by your coverage of the eruption. Thank you!
Great set of panoramic views from several different locations to show the whole story of the November eruption! It is perfectly edited with the view locations from east to west and excellent annotation. I am glad you found a day with calm and sun to acquire this footage. I can imagine that you spent even more time editing than driving around the area to get this professional video.
A glimpse of nature's beauty and power crossed with human ingenuity makes for incredible footage. Greeting from a currently rainy Melbourne, Australia.
Another lovely one, Gylfi, thank you :-) And the berm at 2:10 across from Hagafell to Sylingarfell is IMPRESSIVE! And it needs to be, because if the lava gets that high it's a straight downhill shot into the power plant. I've watched them build it and increase its height over the months, but the way the light hits it there really showcases it.
Wonderful, informative video, and the labels were very helpful, no spoken words needed, although your voice is always a pleasure to hear. Love your music choices Gylfi!
Thank you for this perspective. I’ve been to the blue lagoon. While it’s quite touristy and something I don’t need to do again, what I’ve learned through your videos on the blue lagoon is to appreciate the importance of this place to the economy of Iceland and the determination and ingenuity of the people to protect it.
Labeling the terrain features really helps in orienting the viewer’s perspective. The videography and music selection is outstanding.
Thanks a ton :)
Labeling the area was immensely helpful for overall perspective! Thank you!
Wow that pylon was fixed quickly. I never ceased to be amazed at Icelander's resilience and no nonsense attitude.
In Germany we would need 2 years alone for getting the papers ready to be allowed to fix something.
exactly the same thought... lava is still hot and they built new road on it already...
If you have a robust budget, you can do anything expediently.
Or an okay budget and beauracracy that enables, not gets in the way
Absolutely! Very impressive.
This kind of photography, together with the slow pan and tagging of landmarks really helps put this into perspective! Thank you, definitely worth the effort you put in to this.
You sure can tell a good story with no words at all. Thank you.
My pleasure!
No spoken words, but very informative text annotations!
What a beautiful way to explain the geography of the Reykjanes peninsula and what's been happening there.

Didn’t realise how much it flooded the area, and already being repaired.
Thank you
😎😎😎👍👍👍
Quite possibly the most beautiful educational format ever. You are so talented Gylfi. Thanks so much for sharing it with us!
Thanks so much 😊 Much appreciated 😊

To the Iceland engineers that are battling this... you are amazing people and I watch in awe at your work.
Amazing footage… Icelanders are the toughest bounce back people I’ve ever witnessed… big love to Iceland 🇮🇸
Much appreciated :)

Beautiful. The work done on the berms to divert the lava is impressive. Perhaps it should be The Great Wall of Grindavik? Keeping out the lava hordes?
Spectacular! Your skills as a videographer keep on getting better and better!
Good evening Gylfi,
Nice overview of the affected area. It’s big. Stunningly beautiful also.
beautiful light and great perspectives
Thank you kindly

Amazing drone footage as usual. This shows the scope of how far the lava traveled.

Excellent. Nice seeing the lava flow relative to area.
This is fantastic with the labels. It really puts things in perspective. Thank you so much!!
Your images are always the best my friend. Jimi and Lyz Norman Oklahoma.
Love your country! Beautiful light!
Great idea of the odd lanmark for perspecitive 👏👏
Welcome :)
Great overview of the course of the eruptions, Gylfi.
They seem to be moving steadily northwards.
Thank you.
Always welcome :)
Great video as always. The mountain you label as Stóra-Skógfell is Sýlingarfell. Stóra-Skógfell is the mountain closest to the eruption.
Absolutely beautiful drone footage. It's mesmerising.
That really shows the size of the lava flows.
Thanks for this overview that puts many of your recent info in a wider context!
Excellent as always...
👍 welcome
That was a really good overview.
❤ stay safe Gylfi
Thanks, will do :)
an absolute great and clear overview of the situation right now. Thanks :-)
