It later clarified by Cabinet Mission that "Grouping" was compulsory. Moreover, Muslim league hd not rejected the Plan. In fact, the latter was reconciled by Wavell to join even interim Gov.(Wavell nudged Jinnah). M.L left the interim Gov owing to Nehru's statement of amending the "Grouping" once Constituent Assembly was established (plz. check the fact)..
Anyway very nice initiative....

Cabinet mission said that grouping is compulsory...and there were 389 members in the constituent assembly, 292,93 and 4(chief commissioner provinces).

Regrouping was allowed so regroup and then separate to form separate country was the plan

Jinnah sb never wanted to divide India, his life is evident if you study his political life, he was also a prominent leader of congress and opposer of muslim league around 1910, afterwards he analyzed after several events that there will be no space for muslims in India after the departure of British, his basic demand was the rights and separate electorates and representation for muslims, that is why congress rejected Cabinet Mission, he said that British Raj will be turned into "Hindu Raj".

10:00- Congress accepted Cabinet Plan on 24 June 1946 *not in Aug 1946*.
League withdrew its acceptance on July 29th 1946, in response to Nehrus's remark.
Also on 16th August 1946, Muslim league started communal riot called "direct action day"
