Can we just appreciate Mat's vocal performance in this? His vocal range is off the charts and all the high notes he effortlessly hit especially at 2:29!! Like SHIT THATS HELLA HIGH
Is it worrying that I he didn't even have to start singing for me to recognize it as the smiths, it was the fact that Dickens was waving gladioli flowers
I've met the composer for horrible histories and he told me that the producer for the Smith's loves this! The composer for horrible histories is called Matt Katz and he works with someone else but I forgot their name sorry!
Haha this is absolutely brilliant! Brilliant impression of Morrissey, and very clever multiple references to various Smiths songs, whilst still somehow managing to pack the thing with info on Charles Dickens! Particularly enjoyed "Dickens take a, Dickens take a bow" and the reference to the Staplehurst Train Crash (I grew up in Staplehurst). Awesome.
My class has dropped that section of the exam. We are only doing An Inspector Calls and Romeo and Juliet. It's annoying that we had already done A Christmas Carol and An Inspector Calls but you can't drop Shakespeare, even though Romeo and Juliet is so stupid.
@@lizzielane1979 It's such a stupid story, but there is a lot to write about and I now feel more confident with it than A Christmas Carol but that's probably because I'mdoing it now

1st series: Fun songs for kids 5th Series: SMITHS PARODY I like that they gave up pretending it was a kids show and aimed it at history uni students XD
Lois this is very much a children's show. Sure when I was growing up I didn't get all the song references but everyone I ever knew loved the actual content of the episodes.
@@tomaszlosinski875 You just have to look at the changes in humour. Lois but saying it was targeted at uni students is a stretch. Yes they made it so anyone can enjoy it but its primary purpose was to teach history in a fun way to children and I actually like that they don't insult the intelligence of children by dumbing it down to fart jokes.
but if you think about it the first season was released in 2009 and aimed at 11/12 year olds (maybe a bit younger/older). the fifth season was filmed in 2014 therefore those people who started watching it when they were 11/12 in 2009 are now 16/17 (maybe a bit younger/older) therefore the content is not aimed at them per se but are still adding things that intrigues that demographic.
It was so funny, because when HH was on everybody fancied Mat Baynton. So me and my daughter used to watch it all the time. I said to my daughter, "you can have Mat Baynton, I'll have the short fat one". And she said "no Mum, I want the short fat one". Sorry Jim Howick, but you have two fans!
Nine years later and I’m in love with the man behind the act but even if it wernt mat this would still be my favourite as I love the smiths and Charles dickens
Great Expectations was the first book I've read written by Dickens and read the rest of his works later. He does have a talent for writing solemn miseries.
I love the Smiths, and so does my 16 year old daughter (see Greg, some of us do know). Mat Baynton as always is fantastic, but see Jim Howick doing a Johnny Marr!
oh man this is so good. mat baynton doing morrissey. sounds like a weird mix between heaven knows i'm miserable now, this charming man and there is a light.
As a huge fan of The Smiths/Morrissey and Horrible Histories this one is extra special to me, so brilliantly done, the writers and Mathew Baynton take a bow!
Genius. You'd have thought that by series 5 of a cbbc historical sketch show we'd all get bored and stop watching, but these genius scriptwriters and actors can't fail to impress everyone. Why are you so talented?!?!
Charles Dickens might have written some sad things but compared to John Steinbeck (who just wrote terribly depressing things enough to make you want to insert your head in the oven) he is actually cheerful, I mean Charles Dickens has happy endings whereas John Steinbeck does not.
I remember seeing a very early Smiths piss-take on a late-night, Channel 4, comedy sketch-show called "Who Dares Wins", around 1984. It sounded very much like this.
