Rumor has it that in the 1977 NBA Finals, towards the end of game 2 when Dawkins and Lucas got into a fist fight, was the turning point of that series. Philly went on to win that game, and were dominating the Blazers through 2 games. But then Portland won 4 straight, and many people attribute it to the bullied becoming the bully, and Philly wilting. Bird in . . . 1984 I think and then McHale decking Kurt Rambis was literally Bird encouraging the Bad Boys style. But that was how the league was. Today, many players would have a hard time playing that style.

No, Lambeer twisted Parish's ankle by sliding his foot under where he knew Parish would land from his jump. Just another example of why Lambeer should have been kicked out of the NBA.
There were lots of great centers in the 80s - Moses Malone, Kareem, Olajawan, Patrick Ewing, Robert Parish. I'd much rather that my team had a big man other than Laimbeer than being a hypocrite rooting for him.

Pat Riley said it was the dirtiest play he'd ever seen. McHale got the blame for the flagrant foul, but Rambis kept his hands to himself after that. It was a thing of beauty.😂
Jesus says forgive, and Larry does.. Bill he goes to Hell.
@@Ijustcant-v9t McHale closelined Rambis because ML Carr (who was a former prison guard) was telling him he was playing like a 🐈 and he needs to kick someone’s @$$.
Look at McHale’s reaction afterwards. His reaction is basically “ML CARR MADE ME DO IT!!!”
@@Ijustcant-v9t So a dirty play is a thing of beauty, as long as it is your team playing dirty. Yep, Celtics fans are hypocrites.
Laimbeer (heavy on the 'Laim') never apologized for his dirty play. I would think there was not a single opponent who respected him.
Nice commentary bro! And Your are right that steal is tops on my list by any player! So glad that Im old enough to have seen & lived that moment! I went from Agony to ecstasy in 5 seconds!
How Bill Laimbeer didn't get shot and killed by the opponent, their fans, and anyone else is a fucking miracle.
Exactly
There is still a chance. He is still alive!

So Bill was no racist.. He was just a prime S.O.B. 😅
He hated the human race
There was a special affection between Laimbeer and Barkley.
So special.
You gotta' hand it to Larry, he was always among the most professional players in the game. Every new opponent a strategy. Awareness of placement, movement and position of his team mates. If he didn't play basketball, he would've made an excellent strategic officer in the military. Just watch some of his old games, but don't focus on him. Watch his team, where they're moving and how he reacts to constantly take advantage of opponent positional weaknesses. It's impressive.
Constantly trash talking and cussing is in NO way professional
@@BAKER22-l4u Ever read Sun Tzu's Art of War? If your opponent is of choleric temper, irritate him.
Psychological warfare is part of the professional's repertoire.

@@devo076 MESSI IS ISOME WAGON IN SUPERTEAM.I WAS BLESS TO ALAIN SHEARER REAL CHAMPION AND SCORER.
Man was the 80's something else. It was the greatest era of basketball. It was the golden age of the NBA. Players really hated each other. There's no hugs or exchanges of jerseys after games. No one hanging with the opposition after the game. NOTHING. It was time where players actually cared about winning and losing. And losing was a death sentence. Fights broke out all the time. Bird had his face broken in one game. And the famous fight between Dr. J and Bird was remarkable. And the great Bird was the king of the 80's which showed the world that he is the GOAT.
80s NBA was great
Bird and Magic (3 and 5 rings, respectively )saved the NBA
80s through 90s. Fell off a cliff after the Jordan Era ended.
'80's NBA was arena football on hardcourt, with a round ball.
Nutty take. Surely you're a SOUTHY BOY?

i love this video every time i watch it brings me such a joy. was so blessed growing up watching him play
DJ is the smoothest and consistent NBA player I know of.
dj was awesome, I watch a game against the houston rockets. western semis, when he played for Seattle super sonics, 4th qtr, seconds left Houston ahead by 2 or so, Houston with the ball, dj steals the ball and makes a 3 point shot to win the game, fuc*ing awesome! Sadly the lakers kick Seattle's as* in he Western finals... Magic's rookie year,
Excellent video! I was a huge Celtics fan in those days and there is no measuring the hatred I and my dad had for Laimbeer. I truly believe the guy needed serious psychological counseling. Playing rough is one thing. Trying to end opponents' careers is something different altogether. The SOB should have been arrested for some of the crap he pulled on the court.
I remember watching the Pistons and had respect for other players, even Rodman the freak. But I never liked Laimbeer. He was the main reason for my hate of the "Bad Boy" Pistons.
I think he would get arrested today. Certainly suspended for many games....
@@natamyer1500 Man, that is such an interesting observation, LOL. When Rodman gets a pass because another teammate is over the line says a LOT about what a piece of $hit Laimbeer really was!

How good of a guy did Joe Dumars have to be, to have played for that team, and people still like him.
I liked Dantley too and felt so bad for him when they traded him the year they finally won after he had played for them so for long. Other than Dumars, couldn't stand the rest of them but I did respect Isiah.
Joe was class.
You never hear a bad word said about Joe.
Only Pistons player that I've ever respected.

Ewing, Barkley, Rambis, etc. all have plenty of nasty highlights on RUclips. Different game. Different time. Enough. The Pistons were SO much more than bullies. They were lights out perimeter and 3 point shooters and played suffocating defense. Be grateful Celtic fans. You have all the saintly lore and reputation. Just don’t tell me those Celtic 80’s teams were choir boys. Ainge? McHale? The Chief? Come on.
Congratulations on your 18th championship. Let the Piston hate go. Still Jordan, Magic, Bird and Chuck Daly should not have left Isaiah off the dream team. Just opinions folks. It’s just a game.

Laimbeer getting it from Parish and Isiah’s face being introduced to Malone’s elbow are the best plays in the history of the Bad Boys era.

The exact same thing goes for football; after the 90's sports devolved into a bunch of pussies crying that they were touched.
ESPECIALLY Lebron's crying ass for calls, he'd make himself look like the QUEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!
2000s era NBA was great too.
Today, many players would have a hard time playing that style.
or the 60's or 70's a lot of those players would not have put up with it. Bill or Rick against Al Attles for one thing
80's and 90's basketball was the absolute best. Now I don't even watch it.

There were lots of great centers in the 80s - Moses Malone, Kareem, Olajawan, Patrick Ewing, Robert Parish. I'd much rather that my team had a big man other than Laimbeer than being a hypocrite rooting for him.
