- Have you ever wondered how Project Zomboid would have been different if it was set in 2023? Like if your character spawned with a mobile phone in their pocket or got access to an e scooter. Today I'm conducting a little thought experiment and seeing how the gameplay would change if your character had access to 10 modern day items during the zombie apocalypse. Which do you think would be the most useful? Let me know in the comments below!

Tanks are all fine and dandy until you realize how much fuel they tend to guzzle down
also, its hard to maneuver in tight places or roads with abandoned vehicles. but its cool to have tank in our disposal can act as a mobile base.
you'd need crew members if you wanted the guns to work on the move as well.
@@MiddleClassNaPobretanks could've, like the name says, tank through the cars
@@searnoe906That and you'd need to be able to resupply ammo, parts, as well as the knowhow to maintain and even use them.
It takes an average of 4 people to run a tank: 1 driver, 1 gunner, 1 loader, and 1 commander.
Yes, tanks don't get miles per gallons, they get gallons per mile.
I see why they set it in the late 90's now.
I feel like a remote controlled drone with a mounted gun would be a pretty sick item to raid the military base in the woods near Rosewood for.
Yeah would be super fun! I hope someone makes a mod for it
Definitely could kite them somewhere
Oooh, with modern computers you could ignore zombies and just watch Mauvasa videos!
7:30 ah yes, my modern project Zomboid experience, not complete without my king tiger
😂
First of all great video! I wanted to mention a couple things about 3-D printers. They do have models for home use already, and you can print parts for guns and they do function just fine. These are not as reliable as metallic guns, of course, but I would love to see this in the game as a way to get access to firearms as long as you have a supply of plastic material. Even 3-D printing things like bowls and water containers for backpack attachments would be really cool.
I would imagen it would be easier to find guns in houses then both a 3d printer and engineering a gun from scratch
@@Marcos-eg9lt Yeah, it's Kentucky. The game is missing two things to be fully immersive: a lot more guns and a lot more Dixie flags lol
@@Wolfnacht I think the used car mod adds the general lee from dukes of hazard lol
@@Marcos-eg9lt
Not just a Plastic 3D printer, but a Portable CNC machine (Some Models DO exist nowadays, and a handful are SPECIALIZED for the processes to get the "Must be made of Metal" parts of the gun) and a Gunloader set to make the ammo.
@@andrehashimoto8056 It would be cool to find workshops or prepper basements with something like that especially with blacksmithing being added
I actually use the solar panel array mod to power my base in my current game. If you have enough panels and batteries then you don't need a generator, which can be connected as a failsafe. I would still have a generator connected in case for some extremely bazaar reason you lost all of your battery charge then all of your food would go bad.
There are consumer 3D printers, people do have them at home! Lots of etsy sculptures these days are made with 3D printers
and resin 3d printers
I've got one, they are fun!@@itismoon5352
@@itismoon5352 Resin printers could be run-enders, if you try to run them without the proper knowledge or proper ventilation system set up, due to the dangers to your health.
Probably in a zombie apocalypse the internet would be the first to go down and considering the context of project zomboid, the army would have cut off the internet in the exclusion zone
As soon as the power failed, all the towers and servers would too
Very cool and imaginative :) And a lot of ideas for new mods!
Playing zombie apocalypse games in a zombie apocalypse
This was an excellent video but I started laughing when I saw your "tank"! Game wise, you need an M1A1 Abrams tank with a 120mm main gun in 2023 (or even 1993). What you have in your video is a PzKw VI Konigstiger (King Tiger) with an 88mm main gun from 1944-45. Presuming this World War 2 relic was in someone's collection. Still all your points are absolutely correct. Great video!
I feel like to fit the communications shutoff the internet will also be shut off too. But at least you could find the occassional game on a computer, that would be pretty cool.
I’d make a smartwatch mod just for one thing…
SILENT ALARMS
The thing I love in nowadays smartwatches or fitness bands is that it doesn’t require sound to wake you up. It was a blessing for me that I can just keep the band on my wrist and it will wake me up by just vibrating.
I just realised how useful it would be in zombie apocalypse when I attracted a zombie to my house by just the sound of an alarm clock in pz.
tanks take a crazy amount of fuel to run and use. You would also need a whole tank crew to operate the guns and cannons and the ammo for tanks runs out quickly. They are hard to manuever and slow and so damn loud. You would also have to maintain it because although strong the mechanisms that move the tank are just as prone to breaking as a normal car.
e-scooters would be cool, but mopeds would be even cooler and time-period friendly.
they'd usually start with no storage, but you'd be able to nail satchels to the back. they'd be fast and quiet, but zombies could potentially clothesline you if you ride too close and crashes would be far more dangerous. it would use up less fuel but hold less at the same time
A Cannondale or Specialized mt bike would be incredibly time appropriate 👍🏻
There is a mod that adds motorcycles and ATVs, which are extremely useful in a ten years later run.
I Think the idea of setting the zombie apocalypse in the early 90s it is a good idea.
cant help but to love the production value of your content! Cheers! Keep it up!
Nic ptsd kicks in
2:10 artilery shells on drones
there is GPS in 1993 but they're super hard to get your hands on because they are a concept thing.
Weren’t they for the military?
I love the solar panel mod.
Armed Military drones so far are still locked to those CoD made famous. The more man portable models are still prototype or have enough issues that using them would likely be a risk
Thank you! Like your videos
Great fun video
Thing is what about the nuclear reactor in factories?wouldn't they like explode or smth whitout like people taking care of them?
Nebermind gps. Id want a self driving tesla haha
Most houses with solar panels don't have any battery bamks and are just grid tied. This means when the power is out, the solar panels are useless, they could be scavenged tho. A 3D printer would be pretty useful in the apocalypse however.
Shows a WW2 tank. Are there any modern tank mods?
says video of 2023 then proceeds to show king tiger from 1943 lol. Still a great vid
Also known as:
Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead/Cataclysm: Bright Nights
All of my friends seem to have 3d printers...
I would use solar panels if they used 90's tech, and GPS did exist in the 90's. Which I might use, but back then, they weren't like today
fuck modernity
all my homies play the forest map with excrementum mod
7:28 Video about 2023 technologies and including a tank from 2. World War. Nice video though
I'm not that fond of the idea of cell phones in the Apocalypse. They're just too damn delicate, and who's going to be alive to repair them? They're not like that Nokia bricks that I initially used as my first cell phone. There definitely wasn't any problem with dropping those.
welp, electronic scrap? use the battery maybe for fire making?
I mean just take the hundreds of abandoned ones for spare parts, assuming you don't use a small brand android
@@devinohanlon5501 not only do most people not know how to repair a cell phone, nowadays they're made so that if you try opening it you break it. Now the cell phones I grew up with early 2000, those things were great. All kinds of interchangeable parts, highly durable construction you could play catch with those things. Sure you couldn't play high quality graphic games, but those phones didn't break if you looked at them wrong.
@@KyubiHitashi I was wondering how long these phones would last sitting in hot stores. I'm probably getting too realistic. But like with gasoline even if you store it with the ultimate Care it's only good for about a year. You can't store batteries forever especially if they're sitting in the heat. And a good deal cell phones today are not designed to allow you to open them up. We're losing the right to self repair on something that we allegedly own
@@speurtighearnamacterik8230 fallout technology didn't use our computer technology, they were still on transistors and vacuum tubes. Things that are much easier for the layperson to fix.
Probably other EV vehicles would be a huge deal. However I got a really good idea. I got a set of electric tools that use battery packs that work on 20v and 60v tools. You name it there is a tool that can be battery operated. There is even a 1800 watt battery station you can run refrigerator on with the batteries. I can charge my cellphone with the batteries. Drills, chainsaw, screwdriver, table saw, circular saw, inflator, water pump, impact driver, grinder, and other stuff. I think you can even run a welder on the power station.
Also A REAL welder by nice those stupid torch welders are weakness. I hope they add stick welding, tig and mig welders. I mean it's killing me how much propane welding in the game is a pain.
Also with my information I could help the devs or modders make the vehicle system a nightmare muhahaha. Oil, transmission fluid, wires, pistons, gaskets, sparkplugs, glowplugs (a diesel thing), hydraulics (mainly heavy equipment stuff), and other things that makes something not work. Like a radiator, starter, fuel pump, ignition system, fuses, ECM, and a few other things. It be interesting to see that the vehicle system get to the point that every level of the mechanic sta to where you can only see how bad a part actually is. The percentage you normally see you couldn't tell the condition of it until you have a diagnostic tester. Imagine you have no clue how bad the car is and you try starting it with no clue if it has gas or not. Then you run off to get gas. You put in the gas and it still doesn't start. You think it's the battery. So you get one. You try to start it... damn not again. Frustrated you leave it to get another car. Someone later on knows why it wasn't starting. They change one fuse and drive off with the car.
Is there a mod in Zomboid to crawl like Soldiers?
yes, i think the name is True Crawl

we are talking about the 1990's here and most people couldn't afford the exuberant cost of it back then.

My wishlist is:
more patriotism rahhhhh 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅
there where already tanks in 1993. so it doesnt make any sense... even if this game was set in the 40s there whould be tanks haha
All this did was make my brain hurt, please do a bit more research next time.
That was easy
Things that would have to be present in a 2023 PZ setting:
90% of what Games you find as Entertainment would be Junk instead, because Denuvo DRM plagues almost the entire Library of Games nowadays.
You would find a lot of Bubba guns (Horribly maimed firearms with shitty modification setups), CA compliant guns (Like the good deals, just worse by 9000% and locked to Semi only and 10 round mags, and the ARs would have fixed magazines with a reload proccess not unlike manual loading a WW2 Rifle.
EVs, most would be junk and worthless outside VERY EARLY days of outbreak, and they would also have a high chance to be barebones and locked to sunday driver top speeds (Blame Tesla's idea of selling every damn feature of the vehicle as a service). Also even if you got in a house with the charge socket, it would be useless because the In-Game generators wouldn't be made for the amount of power those soxkets draw in one go.
Half the zed population early on would be some Blue haired bunch of losers that lived off of social media echo chamber mob posting. The loss of social media just killed their ability to remain human.
The markets would be lacking in Cat food, Toilet paper and hand sanitizer, high chance that you find a survivor house with the garage door open and a makeshift shot of said hand sanitizer, the "entrepeneuring" person would either be a zed or riddled full of bullets.
The tv channels would all be dismissive of this, blame the virus on "Russian Bots", call the "Conspiracy theorists of being Istaphobic yatzeehs.... And claim the chaos at the quarantine checkpoint to be just a "Fiery but mostly peaceful protest", right then the camera cuts to the field reporter getting jumped by a zed...
Several Cars in cities wpuld have broken windows, open trunks or have been burned, some zeds are hooded guys that have Molotovs in their inventory, and some "Current year" movement insignia.
Most gas stations would be selling gas at 15 USD a Galon, what a deal!
i mean if you're alone in this scenario i guess it wouldn't be so bad
A 2023 scenario would have a bunch of conveniences, but also just as many new bothersome issues.
Cars for example:
Basically anything past what wpuld be classified as Gramps cars would have problems arise from the built-in Electronics made to Frick performance and force more frequent repairs past a certain Mileage, not to say of some more modern ones having their own version or DRM. This would VERY LIKELY make leveling Electrical and Mechanics a MUST for long term viability of using a Vehicle, to Jailbreak the car with parts free of that software BS, and also better modify them to actually last against Zeds.
Internet dependency means that no soon the Government imposed data lockdown (Because part of the issue on why the Knoc Virus mamaged to become such a mess was government shutting down all comms to stop anyone from telling outside of KY people about it, and this would be an even worse situation in a 2023 scenario (Terminally Ill always online Wokesters, Always online stuff having crept on almost EVERY kind of software and electronic device...), Ebooks would be worthless since the most common Ereaders are Amazon style BS and have enough overcomplicated barriers, INCLUDING a MUST DO ONLINE step that they would be just more junk to grind Electrical XP with.
CA law compliant guns, Bubba guns and more would also cripple the Gun availability, as most of the guns that fit those categories are nothing more than Junk, or with some mods, just sources for a few components to make use of to repair the better models.
The Urban areas would have likely turned into very broken lawless lands before the Virus completely overran the area, so expect even more burnt wrecks, burnt buildings, including stores and once livable homes, and a fair amount of "Totally not the Burners, Looters and Murderers that caused all the damage before the Virus Karma'd their sorry arses".
If this comes with post B43 and the NPC updates, expect also poorly trained NG soldiers, undergeared and what guns they have is in not even ok condition, and a few surviving ones having become Bandits outright, same for Police.
Also expect worsened Gas shortages, a 2023 US PZ scenario would be under peak Brandonnomics, so Gas stations would have high prices and tons of Panic idiots drying several stations in their brainlet led panic, so Gas would be a pain in the ass more than it is in Vanilla PZ.
Grid instability would be a threat from the start, with periodic moments of blackouts, thanks Brandon for destroying the US Energy independency.
Expanded Helicopter events would be plentiful in such scenario.
Sounds like you live in an alternate reality even today 🙄
me wen girl play pz
yes, women too play video games
