    Thank you so much for taking time to make this video! My machines all have automatic tension, and I just bought my first industrial machine. This video helped me to understand and set correct tension on my HD9. Excellent video!!

    Great video and explanation. Just starting longarm quilting and tension was giving me tension. Your explanation of balance brought the matter into prospective. Thanks.

    Wonderful explanation of tension ... I love your use of the word BALANCE instead of tension! Thank you very much.

    Hi Helen I text you about a year ago about my sweet sixteen. A whole year later I have finally started playing with it. My top tension is very tight
    and I have worked on it all morning. I was afraid to move that black knob in fear I would break it. I have rulers that I'm working with and am enjoying using those, but I noticed my tension is not right. the bottom tension seems more relaxed than my top and I was very happy when your video came on. I never took a class on this machine. I had someone that was about twenty-five miles away that was a quilting company spend three hours with me trying to teach me almost everything he knows about quilting and I went home and never used it. Tada!! I'm trying to use it now.

    Wow! Your visual with the red and yellow yarn to show how tension works made so much sense. Thank you! I am definitely book marking this video.

    Oh my goodness! This is just what I needed. I have been struggling with tension on my new to me Sweet Sixteen. You explained this excellently. Thank you so much for your wonderful way of explaining the balance of the threads. I feel like I never knew how to deal with that part of sewing, but your explanation has shed so much light on the subject. 🎈🎶🥳. Thank you once again for this excellent video.

    This was amazing! Great visuals to help me understand. Book graphics only go so far. I also learned from your video that I am too timid with my top tension adjustments. I was only doing little increments at a time and not bigger knob turns. I walked away from my brand new machine for almost 2 weeks. This video has given me the confidence to try again.

    Helen Godden is one of my favorites and her explanation of balance issue is excellent. I have been struggling with balance on my Sweet 16 to the point that I wanted to sell and get a different machine but now I'm anxious to give it another try. Thank you for posting!

    The best explanation of tension, oops, I mean balance, that I have ever seen. Also showing how much you turn the top thread tension dial. I have been turning an eighth of an inch at a time and wondering why no difference is showing, Now I know why. Thank you, thank you and love the paper and yarn visual aid!!

    Thanks Helen, great video, makes a lot of sense now the manual you get with the machine is so hard to understand. Is it the same on a domestic machine ???? I would love a sweetsixteen , a girl can dream big. Lol. Thanks Vic

    Thank you, Helen! I’ve been struggling. I purchased a used Sweet Sixteen so I don’t know how old it is. You mentioned that your older machine at home doesn’t have the blue insert in the bobbin. Mine doesn’t have one, should I take it to shop to get one? Thanks for your help!

    Helen tengo una inquietud, estoy cosiendo con hilo blanco arriba y abajo, la bobina se recalienta mucho y el hilo de arriba tiende a cambiar de color como a quemarse, me puedes ayudar en esta pregunta. gracias

    Awesome description. I am looking at quilting machines but since I do all kinds of crafts have limited space. So far I have made 54 by 72 inch quilts for grandchildren but would like to make bigger quilts and don't have room for a 10 or 12 foot quilt frame. I am currently using my sewing machine and often feel like I'm tugging it around. How does the sweet sixteen do on a larger quilt such as queen size?

    • @kgandb
      @kgandb 5 лет назад +2

      Kim, you can do a larger quilt on the sweet sixteen but it is helpful if you have extra tables next to it or grooming arms to hold the sides to take the tension off of your work area - HQ does make a 5' frame called a Little Foot for those of us that have space limitations - I love them both but tend to use the sit down for appliquilt and smaller projects then the long arm for stippling, pantographs, etc

      I just finished a queen sized quilt on my Sweet Sixteen. It does take a bit of arranging, but still so much better than on a regular sewing machine. The 'sixteen' in the name means there is 16 inches of throat space, and that can hold a LOT of quilt.

    • @Timmythechin
      @Timmythechin 5 лет назад +1

      I also have space limitations and there are many 'frames' out there (every company has their own version) where you can quilt any size quilt but the footprint of the frame is about 5'. I have one of these versions and it is the perfect size and I can do any size quilt with not much struggle and I am not confined by a fixed sized frame. Rachel

    Great video, but , my tension changes over seams. Do you have a way to help with tension and seams?
