It always amazes me the amount of miss feeds / bolt hesitations/ Magazine problems these expensive Rifle platforms have .
Then even more interesting / amazing is that the owners seem to put up with it .
i am amazed too useless as hunting rigs i accept zero missfeeds on my rifle although it took some fettling to achieve
Need a Tikka or Sako action on the line...They don't mis feed
These are not hunting rifles. These are target rifles that chase extremely consistent accuracy. They run long skinny very pointy bullets with overall lengths that far exceed what would be loaded up for reliable feed. They are load for accuracy.

It still just blows my mind not one of those guys talking about how easy this is with open sights haven't taken your 5000 bucks. All we hear now is crickets.

The thing with open sights is 2 inch group is possible at 500 yards, that is not the issue. The issue is you cannot resolve the plates with 1x magnification, ie open sights.
Say if he agrees to place each plate in the middle of a large black bullseye and separate them far away from each other enough to resolve them, then hitting the smallest 2 inch plate is not too big of a deal, but it needs to be some fine peep sight with proper front aperture insert and some blue light filters
lol, these guys are using scopes and most can’t hit the 2”

Wish I lived closer. North Iowa is a bit of a trip. As for the charity, I'd suggest St. Jude's. Kids don't deserve to be sick like that and I think St. Jude's does miracles.
Definitely!! I live in SE South Dakota, I'd give it a shot with my k31 and Sierra 175gr matchkings!
I'll agree, and add that my archery group donates to St. Jude's every month with a Virtual Tournament!!!
St Judes is great and so is MD Anderson in Houston. Unfortunately I've known a number of kids who have been there.

Erik, you've gotta compete in each of these as a barometer for how hard the conditions of the day are... Pick the best / your favorite rifle you have and stick with it for the series. (or, if you really wanna have fun and make us happy do that AND pick an entry level rifle to compare). As a total n00b who's never done anything close to precision shooting (my interest is growing with every video), it's cool to watch so many folks with so much skill lay it down, hosted by a pro. Also a testament to how well produced the videos are! Better than TV. Keep it up.

Another GREAT video EC. I really enjoy every ones expressions and opinions on how difficult the course is after they shoot it. ITS REAL! More than anything, I've enjoyed the hell out of the "open sight" call outs every video. Keep em comin! Amazin how when you put up $5g's, every one shut the hell up🤣🤣

Every shooter is breathing so hard, calm…calm…calm. Can’t make shots like that while breathing so hard!
Most are over weight. When laying belly down the fat guys push up into the diaphragm. Makes it harder to breathe
Great videos! A 5" target at 500 yards is 1 moa, hitting a 2" target at that distance is amazing. To do this with open sights is imposible you cant see a 2" target at 500 yards.

As someone who is very green at bench shooting, this looks like a hoot. Adding the time and ammo limit would definitely play games with your head
I have a m1a with the match open sights. At 600 yards I don't think I could even see the 3rd smallest target. But if I brag and run my mouth could I get a chance to try? I'd be more than willing to embarrass myself.
Come on, all you have to do is APPLY to go onto his channel and take the challenge using open sights.

I'd love to see that. I'm a huge fan of that system. Mine is pretty well decked out and shoots well but even with glass I wouldn't use it for this. As for embarrassing yourself, shoot man, you'd be the first to step up to the challenge. I say go for it!
At this point, I give respect to anyone who even gives it a try, regardless of how many targets they miss.
Awwww gezzzz, I run a pedersoli sharps 45/70 , 535 postal on black,,, I’ve been on a chicken at 500 meters, be the same size as 12”, After that,,,, it’s a guessing game,,,,

We shot a match this past weekend and we put out our own blackjack challenge here in south africa and i got down toe the 5th target with no problem but i just couldn't get that small one.😅

My brother fell off a roof in November and has suffered major problems to include a brain bleed and almost the end of his life. He has 12 kids and can use any help he and his family can get.

Those WSSMs are cool. That rifle made my day better somehow.
Despite all of the "short mag supremacy" touted during their debut we haven't seen them come back in any significant way. Hornady made big claims with their rcm that were never realized and they've not tried to give us a prc variant of the wssm.. yet.
There's some metallurgical limitations and difficulties with forming small calibers on large diameter brass. Hard to get around that reality.
I agree there’s issues😂, especially feeding like we saw in the video. But despite it all somehow they make me smile.
I've never seen so many feeding problems! Not just this video but some of your other KYL videos also. Bolt actions are supposed to be reliable and yet are having more issues than most autos!

Totally love your videos! Just curious how you always seem to record such good bullet trace? Is there something with the camera, environmentals, magnification, lighting that makes this more obvious? I have started recording shooting long range to try and learn about reading mirage down range and wish trace was something I could also utilize, but I very rarely pick it up.
Set camera directly behind shooter. The camera, magnification, and lighting also play a big part. I have a new system I'm trying soon that I think will make it even better. Stay tuned. :)

I wish i was close for the open sights ide try whats the worst that can happen you get to shoot in the presence of a champion and get some trigger time which is always a good time

Vernon, to help you stay steady use the bag to support the gun. U were moving around as u were shooting and had your hand supporting the gun instead of the bag. Just squeeze the bag up and give it another go.

Hey Erik I’m very green with rifles but am a pretty advanced pistol shooter. I took my first rifle out today and didn’t have any luck zeroing it in. Im shooting a Tikka T3x tact a1 on an atlas bipod with a leupold mark 5HD. I would sincerely appreciate any tips on the best way I can get this scope zeroed so I can work on my abilities with honing my skills with rifles. Thanks in advance for any and all info.

243 wssm never feeds good due to the short stubby cartridge. That's the disadvantage with all wssm based cartridges, other than that they are pretty interesting.
Doesn't help it's being fed out of platforms that aren't well suited for it. Allow the round to sit higher in the receiver and give it a little upward angle to help it feed.
With the right magazine they feed just fine. I have an a bolt 25wssm and a ar platform 7mm wssm. No problems out of either.
If you do end up giving to charity, I would say Cancer research, that is a deadly health issue.
If and when someone does attempt the open site challenge, are you going to allow them to have a spotter to call the shots for them? (Then they have to split the 5k.. haha)

As for a charity, one of the relief agencies affiliated with the Texas panhandle fires would be appropriate.

They are not the wrong direction. They are correct. Simply follow the instructions.

Yeah custom rifle is a pain in the azz sometimes due one part from here two parts from here and then when you think your rifle is in perfect conditions the parts start falling apart from my dreams rifle 😅😂😁👌🙈

Well, I hope I’m not the only one thinking this, but you constantly see these very expensive set ups roll through the challenge. And we repeatedly see The gun or the shooter struggle with the blackjack challenge… I’m not saying at all that the challenge is easy considering all the variables but I’m curious to put it bluntly is it the shooter or is it the gun that struggles to hit target? My suggestion is if we had a control shooter. (ERIK) shoot all the guns that go through the competition and just see if it’s the gun or shooter, or both 🤷🏿
This challenge tests the system, gun and shooters are part of it.
Finally made it to the end and my guy is shooting off a barricade? Why you do that to yourself? Might as well be chewing on crayons.
