- Development of the half time shuffle feel. Starting with John Bonham's groove from Fool in the Rain, then the Purdie Shuffle and then Jeff Pocaro's groove from Rosanna which is a fusion of the two.
Well done, all 3!
Love your drum set
Thank you.
looks and sounds great! A suggestion: bring up the high freq on the snare a little so we can hear that accent maybe? Bonham's snare really cracks through on the 3.
I got the Bonham and Purdie shuffle down but can't seem to get the Rosanna shuffle. I will try your suggestion see if helps.
The Bonham Shuffle is the hardest, not technically, but to actually play it with the FEEL that bonham did, which is what so many drummers are so seriously lacking
I feel ya man. Many people can't get the movement bonham had in his drumming.
From the sound of it and all the controversy with the Rosanna half time shuffle idk. It seem that no body can play it right other than porcaro.
+FabzHD Try to play it totally loaded like he did at the studio lol!
FabzHD for me it was the Rosanna shuffle, it's a hybrid of the other twoo
remember - Pocaro utilized the Bo-Diddley beat for the kick.
Start with learning the beats WITHOUT the ghost notes. As you get the beat down then add in the ghost notes.
Ha, I can live with that
Very very good!!!! però... scusa ma dove si passa per entrare lì ?? :-D
Hi, I'm a fairly new drummer and i want to learn to play all 3 of these shuffles. In your opinion which one is the easiest to start with?
Was I hearing it wrong or are you having some timing issues with the Roseanna shuffle? Genuinely curious - that's clearly the most complex,
Rhythmically flawless. Props to you, but the ghosts seemed a bit loud. Well done sir.
His form is fucked tho. Loosen up mate stop being so tense and sit more on the edge of your seat
When a real musician hears something of musical value, they hold onto it and learn it and then make it their own. Bernard Purdie who created the Purdie Shuffle is the original -no if ands or buts. Bonham was a great drummer who contributed this take on the Purdie Shuffle [he also changed in general rock drumming forever]
HOWEVER
He was influenced by the Purdie shuffle and was not the originator. Jeff Porcaro explained how he changed up the bass drum pattern into a Bo Diddley beat for Rosanna and acknowledges that he and Bonham were influenced by the Bernard Purdie Shuffle.
A side note:drummerboy1066's version of the Purdie Shuffle on here is atrocious at best! You should be ashamed!
the purdie shuffle is in 4, like Bonham's in "Fool in the rain" (Bonham did not create that groove)... it's not in 6/4. Nice drumming anyway.
And the winner is . . . . Porcaro!
Porcaro*
