How wonderful to hear Carlo's mom talk about how they survived after the war. My mom is no longer living but it was like hearing her tell me the stories of her youth. She was born in 1935 in Switzerland and I grew up hearing all of those stories. When Carlo's mom talked about her mom making broth or Carlo's Dad making a dish out of stale bread I knew exactly what she was talking about! My mom told me that when there was almost no food left my grandmother would Brown a handful of oats in some butter and then add some broth and a few herbs and she would give her children a little so that they weren't going to bed on an empty stomach. I'll bet Nicki's Dad has a few stories he could tell about life after or during the war. How wasteful we can be and how quick we are to forget the struggles and sacrifices of the past.

This video was so heartwarming. What a wonderful family. Carlos mother’s story about the oranges brought back memories of my father. He was born in Sicily and as far back as I can remember he used to make a salad with oranges and olive oil and would dunk bread in the dressing. Your mom has a million dollar view. Yes same I found this channel during Covid. I was supposed to live in Italy for six months before Covid hit. Sadly I lost my partner during that time and we both missed our opportunity to live there. I have continued to watch this charming couple and their family and friends ever since 💜

When I stayed in Sorrento I loved dusk as the restaurants and family kitchens start their cooking. The smells of garlic, sizzling olive oil and lemon was a delight. I can close my eyes and be back there remembering. Bliss.

For anyone who is somewhat new to this channel, I highly recommend going back to Nicki's archive of videos. They are an absolute treasure trove of content! I've been wandering through the old videos, even some before the Positano Diaries name came about. They're all absolutely wonderful. I found myself thinking just a few days ago how much I missed seeing Skye, Nicola, Carlos' parents, Elizabeth and the girls (course now we have Elizabeth's channel so we can see her and the girls there which is nice) so it's really lovely in this video to see reference to family. And I was surprised to find that I actually do miss of seeing Positano particularly when Carlo and Nicki would do kayak trips along the coast and hang out on the beach and have a lunch. But again it's all back there in the archives and I've been just thoroughly enjoying it. Suggestion: it would be lovely to be included in the conversation of some of your meals. That might not be your thing but it's content that I know I enjoy and others might enjoy as well. Just a thought!
I’m relatively new ….have been an avid follower since Tuscany and have since watched a number of previous episodes from Positano . Extraordinary couple who are so full of positive energy and extraordinarily great work ethic . It was so nice to hear Carlo’s mom talk about her childhood. My parents lived through WWII as young adults. I heard so many amazing stories. They lived in Salerno after the war and then immigrated to the USA. Watching your videos keep my parents memory alive for me.

Oh, Tomaso, one of my daughters is a pastry chef and that type of work is is so, so very time-consuming. The hours are ridiculous, and it makes it hard to socialize with other people on such different schedules. My other daughters seldom get to see her, even though they live in the same neighborhood.

So many warm and enjoyable moments in this video. Glad Itty Bitty Kitty is doing well and has plenty of love to keep him happy. Loved the conversations with Carlo’s mom. My mom told me a little about her childhood during the Great Depression. Sometimes all they had was tea for their meal. Her father (Scottish-British) came to he US as a young man. He had a good job and was able to recover from the crash.

i never thought i would go....but i did. a strange set of circumstances happened that i never expected and i was off to rome and Umbria for 12 days...trip of a lifetime and i didn't even pay for it ! you never know ! I hope you get to go.
Loved listening to Carlo's mommy stories of the days when food was difficult to come by, My Mom would say that her mom my grandmother would make filo dough and pick veggies from their garden ,had chickens for eggs and make their own cheese from the milk cow and make the most delicious pitas and that's how they sustained The whole family here in Greece which I am living now. I've been watching your channel for a year or so and enjoy it immensely ❤

I really enjoyed hearing Carlo's Mama recalling what she ate as a child. My Italian mother used to make that orange and fennel salad with olive oil and she lived to 93 and never ate frozen food at all. The Italian diet is the best. Glad you found your glasses. Take care. 😊

And I was surprised to find that I actually do miss of seeing Positano particularly when Carlo and Nicki would do kayak trips along the coast and hang out on the beach and have a lunch. But again it's all back there in the archives and I've been just thoroughly enjoying it. Suggestion: it would be lovely to be included in the conversation of some of your meals. That might not be your thing but it's content that I know I enjoy and others might enjoy as well. Just a thought!
I’m relatively new ….have been an avid follower since Tuscany and have since watched a number of previous episodes from Positano . Extraordinary couple who are so full of positive energy and extraordinarily great work ethic .
However, I’m not fully familiar w Tomasso …I’m assuming he’s Carlo’s son from a previous marriage , stepson to Niki , who is a pastry chef in Positano and who lives with his grandma . How old is he ? He seems so lovely in this episode and love how he says be good to my dad 🥰…. Could you provide some background on him ?

It was so nice to hear Carlo’s mom talk about her childhood. My parents lived through WWII as young adults. I heard so many amazing stories. They lived in Salerno after the war and then immigrated to the USA. Watching your videos keep my parents memory alive for me.
Your channel is a favorite because the people are real. Nicki and Carlo thank you for sharing a bit of your life. It is enjoyable to see the kindness and caring you share with your friends and family.
Carlo's mum is a great lady, so busy, as is Tommaso, hopefully he has beautiful holidays with his lucky girl-friend - good idea to save for an interesting vacation, and Bali must be a dream....Have a good time all of you ❤here and there and everywhere 👍
Oh, Tomaso, one of my daughters is a pastry chef and that type of work is is so, so very time-consuming. The hours are ridiculous, and it makes it hard to socialize with other people on such different schedules. My other daughters seldom get to see her, even though they live in the same neighborhood.

So many warm and enjoyable moments in this video. Glad Itty Bitty Kitty is doing well and has plenty of love to keep him happy. Loved the conversations with Carlo’s mom. My mom told me a little about her childhood during the Great Depression. Sometimes all they had was tea for their meal. Her father (Scottish-British) came to he US as a young man. He had a good job and was able to recover from the crash.

I'm getting the impression that you both are really city people who like living in the countryside once in awhile. I have been watching your Chanel for many years now . I have never been to Italy .I'm in Yorkshire UK. I'm an older man and basically you clicked . I enjoy learning about life in Positano and I love it . I like Tuscany of course but I prefer Positano . It's doubtful I'll get to Italy so I'll continue watching
i never thought i would go....but i did. a strange set of circumstances happened that i never expected and i was off to rome and Umbria for 12 days...trip of a lifetime and i didn't even pay for it ! you never know ! I hope you get to go.
Loved listening to Carlo's mommy stories of the days when food was difficult to come by, My Mom would say that her mom my grandmother would make filo dough and pick veggies from their garden ,had chickens for eggs and make their own cheese from the milk cow and make the most delicious pitas and that's how they sustained The whole family here in Greece which I am living now. I've been watching your channel for a year or so and enjoy it immensely ❤

I really enjoyed hearing Carlo's Mama recalling what she ate as a child. My Italian mother used to make that orange and fennel salad with olive oil and she lived to 93 and never ate frozen food at all. The Italian diet is the best. Glad you found your glasses. Take care. 😊
