Good to see that you were able to see our favorite Egyptologist, Curtis Ryan Woodside. Such a beautiful palazzo for your latest renovation project. I am confident that you will do your utmost to present your client a remodel to rival the view. Bon chance!
Very exciting. ❤ Interesting that the owners want to restore flooring but lean towards modern. Can't wait! I see you bringing lightness through the furnishings complimenting the "bones". Aw, Curtis ans Amelia ❤
I have to be honest. I can’t bear the thought of modern/mid-century furniture going into that gorgeous Italian home. But I know Vivienne, you will create the right balance and it will be stunning. Best of luck to you.
!00% agree but more concerned that it will take a French turn. Please Vivianne, keeep it authentic ... but I also have to keep your clients wishes in mind. Buona fortuna!
How Wonderful, your next gig! When it was mentioned the restaurant had mixed styles, I thought the villa might also benefit from the richness of a stylish blend. I'm seeing swoopy carved simple shapes. Wall-sized art ... Color, but maybe restrained, like petal pink and soft turquoise, etc. Lemon yellow. Hand painted details. Oh, you're going to have So. Much. Fun.
Such an amazing vlog....busy, busy lady! Please take care and just take a day to hang out in your jammies upon returning to France! The palazzo is such a dream and a pretty plain pallet that you and your friend will so enjoy bringing back to life! How very exciting! Chiara's shop......I could just live there! Stunningly beautiful and ancient treasures....perfect for a palazzo or chateau! Cheers and get some rest!!!
As you walked round I kept thinking that the ceilings and upper walls were crying out for some interest - whether mouldings and other 3D treatments or paintings or, ideally, a combination of both. Rooms like that 1st floor potential salone would be enhanced with some panelling as well as ceiling treatments. You could use some exquisite wallpapers in places, like inside panels - expensive, but cheaper than bespoke painting. And some decorative painting could bring contemporary and traditional together - like a lovely rural scene with parts reaching up from the walls to spread onto the ceiling. Techniques like lacquering some ceilings could also be worth exploring. And that staircase really needs a loooong hanging light to complement it. Good luck! The photographs look great and I love that packaging. I just received a lovely piece of jewellery from you and it was also beautifully abd securely packed and arrived in perfect condition. ❤
Wow! Loved checking out the antiques with you! Please keep us in the loop of your new project! It sounds so amazing! You have great taste! I know it will be amazing!
Ciao Vivienne and Simon. Bellissima, the palazzo is absolutely stunning. I can't wait to see how you will design and style it. This is going to be so much fun; you literally have a blank canvas to create with. Florence is a beautiful city and has most stunning countryside, which I hope you will get to see, if you haven't already. Grazie Mille, tanto amore da N.Y.
I work with inspirational pieces. Could be a pillow, a piece of fabric, a chair, or even a color palette. This is so exciting because the bones are incredible. Watching with interest.
Vivienne, it will be wonderful to watch your forthcoming creative genius. And, just a note about your hand-painted porcelain plates, I particularly love the Hoopoe bird. I lived and worked in Saudi Arabia where they came onto the compound. They have a glorious story with Prophet Soloman and the Queen of Sheba, as told in the Holy Quran. Worth the read.
Lovely to see Curtis again and the beautiful antique shop with stunning special pieces - The villa is gorgeous, high walls might need gobelins or modern fine hanging carpets, mirrors to enlarge rooms, columns, high and small cabinets - what is used in other villas (inspirations) - in US they might have a waterfall down the staircase (behind glass)🙂you are the best with best ideas ❤👍
I would totally use the colors from the outside of the Palazzo inside along with bringing a bit of the outside inside. Plus i dont see why you couldnt paint the ceiling. Im sooo excited and cant wait to see what you do❣️
Vivienne congratulation’s on that project in Florence ! How lucky for the owners to have chosen such a talented generous kind person with unique style to do the decor ! Wonderful to see and embrace your inevitable success Much love Josie x
Oh, those chairs look excellent! How magnificent to be given such a marvellous house as your blank canvas to work with Vivienne. I feel certain that you will figure out how to decorate it so that the couple feel at home in it
What a thrill to be back in Florence and at the Palazzo in Pink! Stunning! We are hoping to go with you and see all the fabulous wallpaler, exotic furniture grand ceilings..you will adorn this space with! My excitement is great!
Hi Vivienne , firstly it was nice to see Curtis and Amelia again. Simon and you are both fantastic artists in your own right. I adore your friends Palazzo and the views are to die for. I do hope we might get to see some of your ideas and designs for it. They have chosen the right person to bring this tired Palazzo alive with colour fabrics and some beautiful artwork . Thanks to you and Simon for another lovely vlog.🥰🇨🇮
How fun! Thanks for sharing your view from Tuscuny. My favorite piece from the shop was what you called "the sink." So good to see Curtis. What a charming lunch companion.
What a wonderful challenge....I am obsessed with mixing old and new, the only thing all seating needs to be the same height so people can sit comfortably and be on the same level. You are so charming. A lovely episode!
The beautiful House has still lots of its features , yes a new Marble floor for the entry hall and it all needs some colour whether wallpapers or paint but i go for a Chateau type Italian look keeping is soft but not modern . Loved the 2 bathrooms i keep the colour but up date the sinks and baths maybe even a Copper bath in one u know the look . Lovely place thats for sure .
I am so happy you got to see Curtis! As for the palazzo, I am no decorator. It seems to me that the Europeans are very adept at blending modern and historical. Things that sound crazy to me, work beautifully over there. I think the key is always listening to your clients, hearing the unspoken desires and thus blowing them away with their own ideas and your know-how! 🙂
Such a nice project, you will do great things. I am very surprise that there are not moulded gesso at the top of the walls or on the ceiling. I live in Northern Italy in a " Castello" style house. My landlord call it this way. It has plenty of Vicenza stone sculptures under the windows, on the balconies, on the roof top ledge... All of this to say I think it is a must. It is hot in summer and terrazzo might be the right flooring. Again, mine has a beautiful design all around. I wish your project goes smoothly.
I see Trompe l'oeil on entire staircase with ceiling also painted...with clouds or other. No modern please. Stay committed to the period. IMO of course. Brilliant Palazzo and lovely tour of Florence.
Oh how wonderful for you Vivienne! You were in my "back yard" so to speak...we live 45 minutes from Florence and I think you'll do an incredible job in that fabulous palazzo. Oh and with our lovely friend Curtis and gorgeous Amelia...how lovely! Baci to you all 😍🤗😘
Before you mentioned your clients' fondness for contemporary design, I was thinking that the rooms would benefit from an artful mix of modern and antique. Beds and overstuffed furniture could be very clean, and comfortable, but the rooms punctuated with wonderfully elaborate antique Italian pieces. I see pattern being introduced with textiles, and tapestries, with walls and ceilings in soft, warm tones. A soft, sky blue ceiling, with faded terracotta walls. Etc. etc. All that white really makes it a blank slate. Sorry to ramble, but I was bursting with ideas as I watched. I know you'll do glorious things there!
Such a wonderful project Vivian! I love seeing Firenze again through your lens. I visited my in-laws in Florence, just in the foothills of Fiesole last November. It’s a place that remains forever beautiful, and the Florentines are known for their graciousness, gentility, and generosity of spirit. I look forward to watching this project evolve. Just an FYI to those unfamiliar with Florentine decor, many enjoy modern styles in their old palazzi. So we’ll just have to see what comes!
Vivienne - you are just divine - so charming, gorgeous and a most pleasant speaking voice I could quite easily listen to you all day 🥰🥰🥰🥰 I visited Florence many years ago and fell in love with the city but now I have to see it and enjoy it once again through your eyes and vlogs 😍😍😍😍 Your new project sounds most exciting and I can see there is much to look forward to 🤩🤩🤩🤩Hopefully one day I will be able to buy a little treasure from your gift store Stay well and travel safely 😇
An amazing project ❤❤❤❤❤Love the idea of painted walls/ceilings along with scenic wallpaper. Maybe a tapestry? Looking forward to seeing the progress. Nice to see Kara (sp?) again. What a wonderful antique shop 😍😘
Can I come work with you??? ☺ Love your enthusiasm and love of authentic restoration for modern living. Opinion from a retired Designer: As for mid century ( I love it also). proceed with caution. A few pieces in the Italian modern aesthetic (Dining Table? Kitchen wood choices for cabinets? Simple natural flooring there too?) It could work yet it will be a fine line between curated and to modernized. Frank Loyd Wright built in much of his furniture calling it "client proofing" so as to disallow the use of furnishings that would ruin the aesthetic and art of his designs. Just to remind them, they are stewards of one of the most beautiful Palazzo's in Florence, and as the pink marble floors and other 1960's renovations just need to go, in a few years so may their choices. Thank you for bringing us along!! I will be living vicariously through your efforts! Good luck
I love the empire screen, so beautiful. Thanks for taking us along. Nice to see Curtis and Amelia. I went to Florence many years ago and there was a house not far from the bridge with a beautiful wisteria, looked very old.
I am not an art deco person, but I could see the artistic elements of art deco in there, touches, memorable bits and pieces among my all time favorite of "staying within the period" bases elements. What a place. I can't wait to see what you will do with such a place, Viv. I hope there's NO budget to consider. 😂🎉
This looks like fun and a lot of work. The only idea I had was , seeing that green tiled bathroom all I could think of was add a degournay wall paper. Or rip it out and start fresh.
Tony InLosAngeles Vivienne definitely color on the ceilings and some stencil work. The walls can be a neutrals large plain stencil panels or boarders. Are you thinking marble for the two floors or tile? We had the same thought upstairs I totally was thinking lounge too, take advantage of the view and balcony. I think it’s beautiful when you can mix the antique furniture with the mid century modern. Italian mid century style is the epitome of luxury in that era.
Vivienne, just watched this vlog as well as the chateau weekend vlogs. You are, without a doubt, the most gracious person in all chateau land! Your taste is exquisite and your background in the arts and other cultural genres brings a level to your vlogs I've not found elsewhere. Now this challenge and I can't wait to see what you do! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family from Chicago 🙂
hi Vivienne and Simon. What a beautiful palazzo. I think if possible you should move the bedrooms downstairs and have the living quarters upstairs with those awesome views. I hope we get to follow you through the project. Simon i love your photographic artwork. xox🥰
Vivienne, you have so much on your plate, but what a lovely & exciting plate it is!! The Palazzo is stunning & I can't wait to see your ideas & progress on this amazing property! Hi, Simon! It seems you're holding down the fort (chateau) very well. Blessings to you both!! 🇺🇸
Stunning property, how wonderful and magical to source beautiful pieces for it⭐️ Can’t wait for updates on your journey, well done to you Vivian for meeting the clients sense of history and style, this will be a fantastic challenge for you to share your expertise on, resulting in a beautiful home and exiting journey.😊
Your kitchen and laundry room turned out fantastic! I know you are so pleased with it all. Love seeing your decorations again too. Love the glass ornaments. I have a collection but can’t use them currently due to two naughty cats!
Wow, the palazzo is beautiful as we're your friends shop and that restaurant. It is always great to see Curtis. Those jewelry pieces are exquisite. Simon's prints are very professional. I would love to have one of each!😂❤
Hi Vivienne, I am so happy for you about your new design job!! As talented as you are and as exquisite as your taste in decor is, I am 100% certain that you will do a marvelous job on it. SO many beautiful things in this video , including that most flattering red dress ! You lead such a hard working but fulfilling life , reflective of your undeniable artistic talents. Be sure to treasure every moment, however exhausting it might get.
Vivienne cannot wait to see the progress on the Palazzo in Florence, will you be showing the refurbished progress on your vlog or will it be a separate site?
What a wonderful project! I hope they'll listen to your chatelaine side more than the mid-century modern stuff. :-) I'll bet those empire pieces would look fantastic in there. I was struck by how little architectural ornament there is inside the Palazzo. Was that typical, or maybe it was removed at some point? It's a beautiful building. Myself, I love lavishing attention on a dining room, so would love for that beautiful room to continue being the dining room. Anyway, a wonderful, fun project, and I hope we'll be able to see how it goes!
Wow Vivienne, I’m excited to see what you do with that incredible palazzo! Nice to see Curtis with you. And Simon, I adore your photography and can’t wait to buy a print when I’m more settled. Love from Mary in Southern California 💗
How exciting, you are so amazing. Where do you get your energy? You travel so much and I’m amazed you always look beautiful..how do you do it. Love you
I actually love those two bathrooms. The tile looks to be in a great shape. Just add some large wallpaper above it, get rid of the glass shelves and update the lighting and they would be stunning.
Wow, what a beautiful Palazzo, and what a great project. A few ideas: the two bathrooms with the beautiful old mosaics I would keep as much of the mosaic tiles as possible and would add a bit of of golden Bisazza Mosaics and of course exchange all tubs, vanities, toilets. I did not see the floors, if possible I would put floor heating in, if not possible because of the beautiful tiles I would definitely choose the most modern flat (seemless) radiators through the house. Seeing the sky light in the staircase reminds me of a house I saw in NYC where they put in some pink glass which spreads a beautiful light and atmosphere through the entire stair case. In order not to make that too expensive one could apply colored foil. Definitely get rid of the blueish carpets and the cast iron of the banister should be left black. In some rooms e.g. salon you could work with wall papers that look like old frescos. I would love to visit you and exchange ideas my mind is already galopping…..😊
Good to see that you were able to see our favorite Egyptologist, Curtis Ryan Woodside.

Vivienne, it looks like you're going to have an amazing time decorating this palazzo. What a wonderful reason to be in Florence on a regular basis.
