I didn’t use any interfacing ointment the main compartment or the two exterior side pockets. I used Home Decor for exterior and PUL for lining. I did use the foam and the insulbright.
I made one with insulbright in between the layers and PUL fabric for the main compartment interior. I use my bag as a lunch/work all in one bag. The exterior is all home decor fabric. I have carried it for the last four years without any problems. But i am thinking its time for a new one, so going to try one in the Mora faux leather. Loved the video....very helpful.
I plan to use the insulbright also in the outer pocket and in one of the bags the main chamber will also have it. Have you done it yet and how did it turn out? Did you use the insulbright in place of the interfacing?
Great tutorial. Having misunderstood the written instructions when attaching the pocket to the front, I sewed inside the pocket and attached it to the front that way. It worked but was a bit difficult.
Thanks for the video. I bought this pattern in December of 2020 and made it. Making another for a family member now. I love your video because I can just sew and not think so hard! It's really clear and well done, thank you very much.
I am a visual learner and bought this pattern a couple years ago but ended up making some mistakes on the front pocket. Wish there was a video available then. My daughter didn’t notice my mistake and she had many people ask her if I’d make them one. It makes a great diaper bag. I have not attempted again but might try again. I love how your videos aren’t too long.
Your list of supplies says fusible foam. Do we still sew it down on all 4 sides? I love this pattern and have a great plan with it. How do I downsize the measurements? I want one of the 3 bags I am making to be a bit smaller. Will downsizing it cause a problem?
Hi Barbara, Thank you asking your question. The pattern would have to be redesigned if you wanted to make it wider however for a less complicated alteration, you could try making it taller to fit the 16" laptop. We have not tested this out so we recommend you try a test sample to fit your specific dimensions of the laptop. Thanks for watching!
I am having a problem with the flap instructions clicking in my head. I draw a half inch line diagonal from top to bottom. Do i sew my lines on each side of this drawn line and then cut on that drawn line? Or do i sew both lines inside the drawn line and cut in-between those stitched lines
Thank you for commenting and asking your question. We hope this helps: Once you have your angled line drawn (1/2" in at the top and angled to the adjacent bottom corner), you'll topstitch to the inside of each line that you just drew. This stitching is going to hold the layers together, because you'll be cutting on the drawn lines. Cutting on the drawn angled lines removes a little bit of the fabric/foam layers along the side edges. Your flap will be 'narrower' at the top edge. Does this help?
You could use our new Lite faux leather. We have had someone make in Leather but you would need an industrial machine for sure. sallietomato.com/search?type=product%2Carticle%2Cpage%2Ccollection&options[prefix]=last&q=lite%20faux%20* Just email us at info@sallietomato.com if you have additional questions. Thank you Jess is using a Baby Lock Accomplish which we also sell on our website.
Thank you for asking you question. No you do not need an industrial machine to sew this bag. All of our Sallie Tomato Patterns are designed to be made on a domestic sewing machine.
je suis en pleine réalisation de ce sac qui me prend la tête. le tuto n'est pas claire pour la poche gousset du devant j'ai fini par coudre un bais complétement perdue. une journée pour cela et je n'ai pas terminer .
Yay, no bias binding. Great video Jess. Thank you for this step-by-step guide to making the Tripper.
Thank you again for watching!

We have not downsized the pattern, but you could pose that question in the Sallie Tomato Patterns and Hardware Group in Facebook.
If I want to make this big enough for a 16” laptop, what measurements do I need to adjust?😊

2 questions:
1) can I do this pattern in faux leather?, would I need to change anything?
2) What sewing machine are you using?

I’m sure you could, but it would be a lot of effort, especially on the front pocket. The sewing machine she’s using looks like a Juki TL-2010Q
It is an Accomplish machine
