The Arkham series is one of those series where somebody could make a convincing argument for why each entry is better than the others and you'd believe them all.
The Joker saying Batman wants to play hardball and pulling out a feather to tickle him was one of the funniest moments in the game. Asylum was a real treat
Asylum is my fave in the series, by a long shot, playing this game at 14 years old, feeling invincible as batman, adventuring and exploring this isolated island for the search for the riddler trophies, getting the ultimate satisfaction from the challenge maps and as a ps3 player, getting to play the Villain with a goddamn gun, The story in asylum is tight, perfectly toned and just the best, Not to even mention the STAR studded performances, rest in peace Kevin Conroy and Arleen Sorkin, you made this game, This vid just made me wanna play Arkham Asylum again...off to steam!
That was my goal with the video in the first place, I want people to go back and re-experience these gems because they're just so fantastic! Have fun, my guy!
The Arkham games lost their identity more and more with each new installment I think. To the point where Arkham Knight kinda feels like it could take place in any standard Batman universe (and let's not talk about Suicide Squad). This game felt like a living, breathing graphic novel, which clearly took heavy inspiration from A Serious House on Serious Earth, and really felt like it's own separate thing. City kept it going to an extent but honestly, the second they ditched the graphic novel aesthetic for that generic, video-gamey, "hi-tech" HUD, I knew something was off.
I platinumed it the other day. Just playing it again was a real trip down memory lane. This was the game I wanted to play the most when it came out 1.5 decades ago. What a time 😌
People today fail to realize how ludicrously important the late 2000's/early 2010's were for Batman fans. In merely a decade, we've had The Dark Knight Trilogy in cinemas, with one of the movies still being today THE greatest superhero film of all times, and the Arkham Trilogy in video games. The decade was just absolute perfection for Batman fans, something people today (especially those who like demonizing him because "he's a rich white dude") will never be able to understand.
Asylum has something that no game after asylum from Batman or other heroes has and it truly feels like a playable comic book. (The only other games I can think of that feel like comic book games are Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions and Ultimate Spider-Man). I love the grittyness of Arkham Knight, the overall fun/epicness of the Spider-Man games but Arkham Asylum has an undeniable tone that feels so perfect for a game where we play as a man dressed as a bat fighting insane criminals. The game still takes itself serious at times and mainly uses comedy from characters who no matter the universe like Joker will make jokes and act really silly such as using a feather to try and make Batman transform into a huge monster or use slapstick comedy such as exploding gargoyles which kills his own men. Also the overall tone and aesthetic of Arkham is so perfect with its mid 1800s gothic aesthetic which is something I wished they committed to for the other games such as making Arkham City and Knight look like the Tim Burton Gotham
actually about the music i don't think music in the whole series (except origins) is noticeable but it deserve much more credits i mean no one really talks about arkham music as they should. just listen to different variation of arkham theme or azrale theme or arkham city ending track with choir (well it's not only ending track) i think it's brilliant
I HATE how the sequels got progessivelly darker/serious in tone and story. I love how goofy Asylum is, almost as a spiritual sucessor of BTAS, that should've been the way to go.
In my opinion, I really like how the series progressively gets darker and darker with each game in the series. It makes sense to start the story off in a light hearted way to get people hooked and invested in this world, and gradually raise the stakes overtime. I can see where you're coming from tho :)
Personally, I always found asylum to be the darker game. As far as the setting go, it feels the most surreal when it comes to civilian casualties. Like knight had the city evacuated, so there’s almost no civilians, and of who’s left, Batman saves almost everyone. City had political prisoners, but they were only mentioned in a few moments and quickly saved by Batman. But asylum is literally littered with the dead bodies of doctors and facility who worked there. Pretty much every innocent person on the island died. (I kinda forgot what the setting was for origins)
Wait this was uploaded 18 hours ago? Dude your commentary felt like a well done video that feels like it was uploaded years ago. You are so underrated, keep up the good work!!
Arkham Origins feels like a great origin to the character imo Asylum had the best comic book vibe and atmosphere of them all City is just for me the middle child who was a great improving to Asylum Knight was the ultimate advanced and great videogame in therms of gameplay and story.
Arkham City had the best setting/foundation for a story but the ending and protocol 10 was anti climactic. Arkham knights setting/Foundation was a bit simpler but it had a far better ending City was better written but i think asylums campaign and game design was more fun to play
@@TheBossFighterz FACTS 💯, the amount of times I've replayed it I lost count 😭🤣, weirdly even though its not too complex of a story I NEVER get bored of it
don't you just hate when you play this game and all of the sudden this garbage appears on your screen your game data is corrupted and game will be closed delete data to play the game and the worst thing is that this doesn't do ship for you when you play again and reach the same point in the story (in my case it was entering the mansion and taking out first 3 guys inside)the same exact garbage appears on your screen again

Funniest moment in the game for me!
Playing the arkham games as a kid was such an experience

Scarecrow in aekham asylum was the reason I was scared of needles when I was a kid

My favorite game to replay

Scarecrow and croc are some of my favorite boss fights in the series.

Don't think I ever saw that game over screen of Joker blowing a raspberry, then stumbling backwards and falling on his ass.^^
currently replaying this, played it back in the day, it's incredible

The lack of r/arkham memes and how straight forward and serious this video is, its really appreciated

Thank you so much man, I'm glad this channel is giving you that nostalgia feel!
I feel like arkham asylum could be a resident evil game / silent hill
Incredible as always
Thank you brother, top guy!
Arkham Origins feels like a great origin to the character imo
Asylum had the best comic book vibe and atmosphere of them all
City is just for me the middle child who was a great improving to Asylum
Knight was the ultimate advanced and great videogame in therms of gameplay and story.
Arkham Asylum is the best game ever made I will stand by that till the day I die
Knight better lol
One of my favorites for sure!
It's too hard to pick. I learned to love Arkham Knight. Arkham City is a masterpiece. Arkham Asylum's level design is awesome. So I rank them equally.
Yeah they all have unique qualities!
Arkham Games are just too good they'll continue to hold up for decades
Dude, I'm gonna be replaying these games until the day I have kids and pass them off to them!
Great video, I just Subscribed.
The only thing that holds this game back from being the best Batman game is it’s really limited stealth mechanics.
Arkham City had the best setting/foundation for a story but the ending and protocol 10 was anti climactic.
Arkham knights setting/Foundation was a bit simpler but it had a far better ending

Nah city has the best story it's pretty well known Asylum Atmosphere city story origins boss battles knight gameplay and graphics
City's the most well rounded though which is why it's rated the highest 96 on metacritic and is considered the greatest superhero game to ever do it
The other arkham games are great to but there's no denying the greatness of city especially the story
IM YOU 1000TH SUBSCRIBER🎉 BTW CONGRATS

4:59 they ripped that off from Enternal Darkness
I love the video
Thank you so much! What was your favourite part? :)
Na, this is like arguing that Fallout 3 is the best fallout, when you have the same game but 20 times better in the sequel

Thanks man glad you enjoyed!
i wouldnt rly say its te best to me its last, but to each their own ig
Which one is your favorite, bud!
Agreed.
Origins is underrated
It was my favourite for the longest time!

Controversial take: Arkham Origins is the BEST Arkham game.
