Hi Andy ! Good news that planter work well . that planter is Hourigan made . Good job ! Thanks Andy for your time and everybody have a good day at the farm ! 🙋♂️
We have a Fendt 1050 (517hp) pulling a Fendt Momentum 24/48 (24x30" for corn & 48x15" for beans). It has 2 - 65bu hoppers for seed & 1000 gal fertilizer tank. We added a 500 gal tank on the front of our tractor and do 2x2x2 as well. Most of our land, the tractor is overkill, but we have some hilly land as well which sucks the tractor down.
I just picked up a 16 row john Deere planter last year and i have hills. I pull it with a 4630 with maybe a turn on the power screw. Cant believe the ground we can cover compared to a 6 row
What maturity of corn are you planting ? Is it for silage or grain ? Can you talk about your hybrid selection or is it a secret like some other channels. It's always interesting to hear about different hybrids.
Ditch the fertilizer openers for the 2x2 fertilizer. With all the phos in the cow manure, I bet you wouldn't miss it. Then a 24 row wouldn't pull any harder than that 16 row
Fantastic video, great to see you out planting. Please Andy, please 🙏 don't mention shorts and flip flops ever again. It did a number on my syichy while watching.😢😮😅😅
And if you had the ivt you would be rebuilding the transmission after you were done planting. That transmission is junk we have 2 of them Will take a power shift anytime
If your running out of land then your getting to big. You could plant your silage corn in 15" rows you would gain some their, seeing it wouldn't matter because you have a kemper head for the chopper
John Deere doesn't play games with software? If you believe that there is a slightly used bridge from the Baltimore harbor that can be purchased at a good price.
Get the weight off Hollywood! Not you, your tractor! Every 1K LBS of Rotating Mass is consuming 10 engine HP, and that's a Fact, No argument required!! And I'm not even going to mention the soil compaction! A 8RX 410 with the EVT and NO Added ballast would walk with a 24 row planter on your hills Hollywood, and that's another fact, NO argument required! "Nothing Runs Like A Deere" 🦌 👍 🇺🇸
Those engines are not meant to be more HP, they are running at max. Unfortunately new stuff lacks torque/HP, you look at old tractors that had a motor that weighed 3000+ lbs only had 145-285 HP depending on application and accessories. The heads, turbos and injectors changed but bottom end stayed the same. Engines in new tractors weigh half that run double RPMs say they have twice the HP but have no torque compared to the old ones. I learnt all this owning a 8650, 900 versatile and having both blown up with equipment too big for any other tractors I had to pull. My father says no problem we will hook the old D8 up and lift the cultivator with the 1100 massey when we have to move. I thought he was nuts thinking 155HP D8 running 1080RPM would even move 37.5ft of deep tiller or 44ft of cultivator. Well I became a believer that 155HP Cat pulled the equipment at the same speed burning 40% less fuel. I repowered the 900 to a 3406B made it 375 HP got ride of the fluid in the front tires and ran half on inside rear tires. If only tractors went to those engines now instead of the screaming soup cans of today's tractors with Shetland pony HP
@@Dennismelnychukthey sure are not at max horsepower. It’s the same engine in an 8320R and an 8370R. It’s just tuning in the software that makes the power difference.
Put a 20/20 monitor on there and you'll find out the deere stuff isnt good. Tested a couple deere high speed ones and after 1000 acres the deere monitor still read 100% singulation, 20/20 reads it at 91%. Deere replacement brush is $350 to replace, Can get a whole new speed tube for less than that. Also, deere hyd downforce doesn't lift as delta force will, deere only goes into float.
Take them stupid 2x2’s off and you’ll gain a bunch of power. If you’re out doing whatever in shorts and flip flops are you lazy or completely comfortable with the fact that you don’t worry about the machine breaking down?
Not a farmer so... I've never seen fert. tanks on the wings, do you find they help with down force or are they almost too much weight out on the wing tips? thanks for another informative video Andrew :)
Half drunk Andy is my favorite Andy.

Thanks for sharing Andy. Always enjoyable, interesting, informative, educational and entertaining. Please keep them coming.
I love watching your channel. You’re so informative and just a pleasure to watch.
Glad there's no problems with the planter and u can do ur thing and get her done with the planting
I really liked your summary of the corn planter. It certainly explains whats behind the decision making.
Neighbours plant 24 rows with a 420 Steiger. Seems overkill but maybe you do need that on the hills of Oxford county - Gods country here in Ontario
JD 8RX 410 has a full load at 10 mph. DB60 24 row. We ran one waiting for a 8R 370, that one can pull 9 mph on level or moderate slope.
Hey Andy. Yes that would be cool if you could keep us with a look see at the field after the corn comes up. Hope thing went as good as it is showing?
Awesome video thanks Andy for your time and consideration top job top team regards from England 🇬🇧🇺🇲🚜🚜🚜🚜🚛🚛🚛
Great video, glad that your new planter is working well for you.
Glad everything going well for planting season 2024. Keep the action and knowledge coming. Catchya at the next. Stay safe!!
Andy a very good job explaining about tractor and planter
These new planters take a lot of horsepower just for the hydraulics.
I just picked up a 16 row john Deere planter last year and i have hills. I pull it with a 4630 with maybe a turn on the power screw. Cant believe the ground we can cover compared to a 6 row
Man, I wish I could use that equipment. You are a lucky man!
Have a safe spring planting. God bless
WAY TO GO ANDY /HAPPY PLANTING I ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU REAP WHAT YOU SEW IN LIFE / CHEERS.
Hello! Fine explanation and video.

that big 9620 would skip right along with a 24 row unit
Thank you for the footage Andy!!
We have 2 neighbours with 8r370’s pulling John Deere new 24 row Deere planters but here the ground is mostly flat .That makes a huge difference
I'm sure you will be very happy with your decision in your equipment.
Andy, I have a friend that plants with a 380 case straight tractor and a 24 row planter
Can't wait til ya get that 48 row planter and 1000 horse Deer! You"ll be planting at 40mph or better.
When you put your shorts and flip flops on make sure you film it 🤦♂️🤣
Please be careful what you ask for!!!
Cool video andy thanks for sharing...
Andy, THIS is your best video ever. I enjoyed every minute. Enjoy your ride. Cheers. PS Cocky yes, but doin the business
Looks great Andy have a good day.
Andy we ever see you in shorts and flip flops we will know you either won the lottery or sold the farm and heading on permanently retirement 😂😂😂
Certainly looks like you have great germination of the stones
gonna be in flip flops and shorts by the end of the planting season
Ditch the fertilizer openers for the 2x2 fertilizer. With all the phos in the cow manure, I bet you wouldn't miss it. Then a 24 row wouldn't pull any harder than that 16 row
Iowa does Here tri-state area it would wash. Different type of soil I’m guessing
LOL..IVTs are cute.
an 8rx would be perfect for this job, but because of its high price, an 8rx would be limited on jobs on a dairy farm during the year
Looking good bossman. 👍🏻
Nice outfit Andy. Enjoy!
My college buddy had a young Springer Spaniel and Sammy was a leg humper. . . .
Time for a tune, or else throw the 8360 on.
Time to tune it up!
Very interesting about what you run into with tractor size on your land
Different says we’re not pulling hills well terraces mid Midwest
Andy your a dam mess hammer down Andy hammer down I remember saying that same thing to a girl one nigh I'm not sure if I right going this fast 😅😮😅
You need a larger tractor . The 8330r is underpowered. The planter would handle 10mph. Olgoat
Fantastic video, great to see you out planting.
Please Andy, please 🙏 don't mention shorts and flip flops ever again.

Some weird comments on here. Probably scammers
Love planting season
I ENJOYED WATCHING THE VIDEO ANDY 😊
Cool video lots of info I got a couple of questions… as I’m watching this I was just gonna say time is money
That tractor is 253 HP to the drawbar ... PTO drive to the planter less HP than the hydraulics?
great video
You should have someone boost your engine power through the computer
John Deere doesn't play games with software? If you believe that there is a slightly used bridge from the Baltimore harbor that can be purchased at a good price.

Would you ever get a tracked tractor for your planter?
Just as you no speed takes a lot of power that potting er ( sp ) does very nice job waiting for live stream
If you would like a few extra cheap horsepower could a chip to boost the 320 to say 360.

Great Vid how is time doing compared to other yrs better worse.....👍👍👍👍🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽
Good video
What's a good yield per acre for corn silage? Thanks
26 ton
@@FarmingFixingFabricating Thank you
U going to have to hook the 9410 r on the planter
With the farm expansion, will ya need more land to farm ?
Yes
Can you get the 320 boosted up to 410 or get a little bit more power out of the 320 or will you be looking at a bigger tractor 🤔🍻
Can JD re rate the power of the 320 to a 410? It just programing the hard parts are for the most part are the same.

I get the impression that you really don't like IVT transmissions...😂
He doesn't
In the ivt tractor world Fendt is the best in the game.
@@rodger996 I knew that. Personally, I like the JD IVT, but everyone is different.
@@shoresharp8349 I haven't run a Fendt, so I will take your word on it.
How many acres a hour are you doing?
Is your dad planting with they other planter
Have you had any tractors “tuned”?
Deere stuf ist not bad
Take them stupid 2x2’s off and you’ll gain a bunch of power.
If you’re out doing whatever in shorts and flip flops are you lazy or completely comfortable with the fact that you don’t worry about the machine breaking down?
You probably thought that about auto steer 😆 🤣
As always you got too many irons in the fire this is why your so damn late in planting corn
We aren’t late
Andy have you considered a 2 track tractor like Zack Johnson is using looks like it's doing a good job.
You’ll wear the tracks out after a few years with all the road running. Tracks and asphalt do not mix very well.
Not a farmer so... I've never seen fert. tanks on the wings, do you find they help with down force or are they almost too much weight out on the wing tips? thanks for another informative video Andrew :)
8RX 410, nuff said.
we sell steers in cwt.
👍
👍🚜
😀😀
Put the newer tractor you got a couple months ago on it.
We need a Trump 2024 make America great again lol
Why are you Splitting up the Field?
Listen to the video
@@FarmingFixingFabricating test plot!
Who is planting with the other 16 row .... you father or brother

Better buy a new tractor
You just lost a follower by bad mouthing per. John deere is not any better over priced junk

I could care less buddy….. you ain’t going anywhere
Good bye , like I said about another commenter ,thank God and Greyhound your gone. And don't let the door hit you on the way out.
