A keeper! Tried the filling a month ago and I am in the process of making them again. I used a donut recipe that used far less yeast. A big hit with my family and co-workers (too many for just my wee family). I did a chocolate ganache and maple glaze topping. A versatile filling. It is hard to find a good chocolate cream donut where I live so I am thrilled to make my own. I believe this cream filling is called Holland cream or a Kreme cream for those familiar with Krispy Kreme. A big thanks to Helen for the cream filling recipe.
Start adding peanut butter to the filling 1/4 cup at a time, until you get your desired taste. I would also take a jar of Mrs Richards hot fudge ice cream topping and melt it so I could drizzle a little on top of the doughnuts. YUM.
I also live in Central PA! We get these Amish donuts called Nan's Donuts! If you get a chance, and are near Loganton on a Saturday morning, look them up! Most delicious pb filled and creme filled donuts you'll ever have!

I would definitely put some chocolate icing on top. Chocolate covered cream filled donuts are my absolute favorite!! I'm busy canning and freezing our garden produce now, but i will be making these!
That cream filling will be great as a thick topping for homemade cinnamon raisin bread. If you are anywhere within a half a day's drive from Ronks Pennsylvania, be sure to stop in at Miller's Smorgasbord right on the lincoln highway and try their Cream smothered raisin bread. YUM!

Look terrific. My favorite donut or roll Is an orange bowknot. My mother made them for every holiday breakfast and then some. They have orange zest in the dough and zest and orange juice in the glaze. Delicious warm with butter. I might just have to make some and some of your filled donuts which we call bismarcks in Minnesota.

I am happy you tried the cream filling, I am about to make a batch of these today. They freeze good, as I can't eat a dozen donuts in one sitting, lol. Just let them come to room temp and maybe a 5 sec microwave zap to warm them a little.

This is the 2nd time I have made these. Today being a cold snowy day why not lol. Made the cream filling and wanted some what of a Change so , took cherry pie filling and thickened and filled half rolled in sugar and them adding cream filling with some of the cherry so it made a cherry cream. Oh soooo. Good.

My Mom made a boiled frosting as a kid. She used milk & flour & shortening. I loved that " frosting". It made a ton of this topping. So fluffy & good.

Love this filling made oatmeal cookies and placed this filling in between double layer! 😊
