the same type of king pin I have replaced about two months ago. It took me 3 days to change all 4 of them on an Astra HD 8, 8x4 truck. But they wouldn't come out nowhere near that easy. Taking them out i had to use a 50 tone press, a 15 kg hammer and on one of them also the gas torch to crack the rust.
The worst part doe in replaicing them is the locking bolts which can make you a really really hard time to take out.
The only king pins that you can take out with a hummer in Europe might be the cone ones.
Every time I watch your videos it seams that everything works perfectly smooth and all of the parts come out easy.
Great content! Keep them coming!
Great video to stumble on. I really enjoyed it. With the cotter pins, if you clamp on them with the diagonal cutters and use a pivot point like a wrench or a bolt to roll the pliers on. The nut usually works fine. Just dont smoke the exposed threads. It pulls them out like nothing almost every time. Those tie rod covers are awesome to beat on just ordered some. Thanks again!
you make it looks so easy!!!
EXCELLENT WORK.... THANK YOU... HELP ME A LOT.... GREAT JOB...
Wish it was always this smooth
Great work guys no crazy mess very clean
Thanks a ton for this video. Truly
Love your content but that 3/4 needs replacing and it much slower than a 1in for taking the lugs loose
Good video but didn't show replacement of the kingpin bushings
Alignment is needed after?I have a 680 and it is in Kenworth right now and they want to replace both front Kingpins. Thx for the video
Great job
its really helpfull thanks dude
Good job thanks
Thats only magik, that the kingpin was beating so easy.
this usually requires the use of a thirty ton press
Kinda funny, but throughout all of this burly work, the split-pin gave him the most frustration....
Nice work
👍👍Great job
Amazing👍👍👍
Surprised you don't use an air powered nut runner(ratchet) to run down those grease plate bolts.
Also look into larger size cotter pins. Can hammer in the big end for a snug fit and the pin doesn't wiggle around. I always use the largest size that will fit.
Nice video, thanks
Did you not have to add shims?
when he moved the spindle that was looser than Kim k. That job won't last it needs to be a little tight but not tight enough that you can't move the spindle.
@@salvadorhenandez2258 yeah that things gonna be a bumpy ride
If that where me doin this job I'd be there for 2 days fightin with that damn cotter pin.
Great video! How long on average does a air gun last you?
It seams that on any vid about a tool box tour every guy talks about the air guns as the old gears still in the drawer (had it about atleast 4 years and still working, some of them said even 8 years USA ). I had a hazet air gun lasted indeed 4 Europe made.. The Chinese ones keep at the max 1 year.
They need to be oiled a lot, it's all about maintenance. If they're properly oiled with every use they should last a really long time. Someone on Facebook gave me hundreds of old sockets and stuff for free, some were rusted really bad. In the same non-weather proof shack the sockets were in, there was also an air ratchet. He offered to give it to me saying he isn't sure if it works. Well, I happily and gratefully took it and cleaned it up with pb blaster and by using mineral oil on it. It works perfectly. The air ratchet is probably 20 years old
Would of used a 1 inch gun to get that wheel off. And air hammers work great for the Pin
Why do extra work when you can just remove tire and change king pin
Nice 👍🏼 where can we book an appointment
I'm sure he does it on purpose running the gun without a wrench from behind at first...maybe to shock the bolts?
It's done to ensure the bolts aren't froze in the spindle once the nuts are removed from behind.
Where are you located city and state??
Location !?! Where are you located
Bros using a regular impact for those lug nuts
What the book time on a king pin job?
My shop, not sure about his, charges for 9 hrs R&R both sides, plus 1 hr more if we need to cut out the front axle to take it to the press to pop the kingpins free
i like job but he could went alot less hassle if he just sprayed WD40
What size is the big jam nut in the hub?
Would be a 55mm
Was thinking of changing my front king pins on my Volvo.. but was told to leave it for a mechanic 🤔
Unless u got the tools then yeah. It also depends if it's rusted on really bad. Then it's more work. This one in the video was easy asf. But not all are this easy.
@@FA-sr6lx yeh both me and a friend were thinking of giving it a try.. TruckCentre Volvo quoted me just over $2k in labour and that’s not including the parts.. yeh nah fk that 🙄😂
I think hes done this before.
❤️❤️❤️😃
Doesn’t look like his first rodeo
You need a new impact. Shouldn't take nearly that long to get those lug nuts off.
I would've took the large nut off the back would've been easier coming out
0pppppppp
Very gud job
1/4” Milwaukee would have zipped those off in half the time lol
Is the Milwaukee rep sucking off your 1/4 "?
That's what I always had to hear from a young guy. He would keep going on and on about how his battery tools were faster than this and had more torque than that. It got annoying I couldn't use any of my air tools without hearing his motor mouth.
@@davidyuzyk6343 yes you should see that thing shine with that very deeep red colour I’m sure you would enjoy it as well 😉
@@redneck4200000 I feel bad for your dog lol
