We here are Theo & Harris are big fans of watches. Not sure if you could tell. SO when Tissot released their risky little digital watch -- Christian and I jumped for joy and sang our favorite show tunes together. I (Michael) have always been a huge fan of the Omega Speedmaster 186.0004 -- it's weird, it's fun, it's digital, and from a legendary brand. With it's age though I was always a little hesitant to pull the trigger on one...now though we have the Tissot PRX! SO Close to being perfect -- I just wish it didn't have an integrated bracelet.

You are SPOT ON. What is good for the watch community. I just want you to know that I have been a fan of yours for years and I have thoroughly enjoyed you guys not just discovering your voice, but really leaning in. Building community. Thinking of your presence amongst the other watch commentators as an advocate for the watch industry in general. Sure you do your promotion stuff, because for anyone who knows anything about the RUclips business model, it’s difficult to commoditize it. We do you want to support you. Anyway, I hope this positive comment makes up for any snotty ones you might get not that I see very many of those anymore. Keep kicking ass and enjoying the journey. While I agree with most of this, two things, 1) the price point is confusing to me. I think it’s approximately $100 to much. 2) we got one of these in in gold (large size) at the shop I work at & zero people have asked to see it or even asked anything about it, so there is that 🤷‍♂️

The PRX has been a huge success due to it giving you more than you pay for. The finishing, integrated bracelet and dial are much nicer than the price paid. Swiss watch brands should do what they do best - make mechanical watches. No need for quartz or digital movements, which they cannot master and get third parties in some far east country to manufacture the chip for them. They simply cannot compete with in house electronic calibers of Casio, which is way ahead of any player in the market with their precision and accuracy for digitals.

To be honest, the PRX digital watch looks much better in person. I know it receives criticism because some people see it as just a pricier version of a Casio watch. I have the silver mirrored finish, and it's truly stunning. What sets it apart is the fantastic bracelet that comes with it, something you can't find on a Casio. I own the Casio A1000 premium vintage, and while it's a great digital watch, the mineral crystal and the mesh bracelet leave something to be desired. I managed to find a used digital PRX on eBay for $130 in excellent condition, and for that price, it's a clear winner over the Casio, with its sapphire crystal and other subtle details that really stand out in person. The silver mirror finish gives it a refined and sophisticated look that you don't typically find in other digital watches. If you're interested in this watch but hesitant about the $350 retail price, I highly recommend buying it secondhand. At that point, it's hard to find fault with it. For anyone considering spending $350 on a digital watch, the PRX would definitely be the top choice.

And this is not a dig at Casio, but people act like this is way overpriced. Is it? The quartz analogue PRX is roughly the same and its still a quartz watch. This one is arguably better because it has more functions lol the construction is of the same standard.
Added to this is the fact that NO WRISTWATCH can justify completely being over 20$ if we are brutally honest. We buy them because we like them, some people are more value driven than others and thats fine.

When you pushed the button once it showed the time in RED numbers, push it again, and the date appeared, then the display would time out. They took two hands to use and they were battery hogs. I liked the way Tissot was able to differentiate the look of the automatics and the quartz models and give them a very upscale look. This however, from a design standpoint, to me looks lazy. A Casio A1000 (all metal, on a very good mesh bracelet, that you can put a quality 18mm strap on too) at $100 is way cooler because it’s authentic vintage retro and has no brand baggage. The analogue PRX is a decent quality cut-price integrated bracelet watch with attractive dial colours at an acceptable price. But the digital version has a $20 LCD module that looks like a $10 LCD module with parts-bin pushers and enough dead space on the monochrome dial face to fit the list of required improvements.
Fundamentally now Tissot is a one-trick pony; its PRX. And it seems only able to milk this cash cow.

The problem is, for digital watch collector, PRX digital isn't that special. There was Omega Speedmaster LCD as you mention in around 10:53, there is Casio A171WE and so on (put them in the video next time). On the other hand, if a watch collector doesn't really understand 80s watch, they don't even understand what Tissot is doing. These is a reason why Casio seems to forget about their A171WE (only one extra watch after their first release). When most people want to buy a digital watch, they want to buy a funky one like A100WE or Q Timex digital. And that's not a good news for Tissot PRX Digital.

When they first talked about the PRX I distinctively remember Theo saying that if they made it in gold he would DEFINITELY buy one in a heartbeat, without a doubt, because he loved it so much. Here we are, years later, them praising another PRX and saying that they want to buy one and that it's so affordable in the same breath as admitting that they don't own a Tissot. The praise isn't worth much from people who don't live up to their word.

I have to disagree about the digital PRX. Design wise, it reminds me of those early lcd watches. I had one as a kid and I remember. Mine was a Timex. My mom bought it for me at a drug store for about $10 in the late 70s. Round case, rectangular display, lots of empty space on the dial. Now, it didn't have that sexy PRX bracelet, or sapphire crystal. And it was, essentially, a disposable watch. A few years later in the early 80s I replaced it with a Casio.
Now, if Tissot is going for something better, I am all for it as I could use a high quality digital or ani digital watch, , but this PRX aint it.

I learned to tell time on an analog clock. I love mechanical watches, but I also own G-shock analog watches. The PRX digital is ugly to begin with. I personally do not want a digital watch on my wrist. I reject digital. This watch is obviously for the generation of kids (adults now) that grew up not learning how to tell time on an analog clock, and not needing to. Now they have a job and a few bucks and want to graduate from their apple / smart watch. However, they can't tell time on a regular watch, and if they could, they just prefer digital.

Really? really! Micheal saying "there is that cheap digital that is the standard..." just lets you see that there's no real love for watches and no real experience from a normal childhood where your first watch was something that didn't surpass the $10 usd price. It just shows you that they're doing lip service for the brands, not doing the videos for the watch fans, sorry to say but it looks that way from where I'm standing.
No matter where you're from, if you had chance as a kid to own a watch (from 6 years old to your early teens), chances are that you enjoyed a standard digital or analog watch, from which ever brand. With that nostalgia, it's hard to label them as "cheap watches", I sure don't.

I like the new prx digital, but I wouldn't change my casio a158 for it. Casio costs 30 euro and not 70... Also I always wear it while swimming and never had any problems, which means it is water resistant enough for me. Then the battery life is 7 years, which is much better than the tissot's 4 years. Lastly, I think that the casio modules are much easier to operate. So for the price of the tissot you can get 10-12 casios and have as much fun as you want. Sure, I wish casio could make a stainless steel digital watch with saphire crystal and a decent bracelet and water resistance that is not a gshock costing more than 1.000 euro, but then it would be too serius and too expensive for what essentially is a fun watch. That' exactly how I feel about the prx digital. Beatiful watch, but too expensive for what it is.
