The first time I ever played KSP 1 I didn't know what an orbit was so I just built an absurdly huge rocket to reach the mun in a completely straight line.
The first time I played I knew exactly what and how to do things, because I watched a lot of videos of the game previously... But I still did the same thing cause why the hell not? Lol. It seemed easier, but it turns out breaking before crashing head first isn't that easy.

It isn't had any potential just since it's was anonced. The game was announced like in 2018-2019. So community was waiting the game with a lot of content. But in 2020 game release was moved to 2021. But the most fun and sad thing is that game released in 2023 and it's quality was really shitty. (Sorry for my English, but i want to carry true to you)
I remember struggling a ton in KSP 1 to understand how orbits worked. For the longest time I would struggle getting into orbit, let alone even getting to the Mun. I remember really trying one time to go out of Kerbins sphere of influence, and go to Duna. I struggled a ton and actually got an intercept. I didn't realize though that I needed to burn retrograde to capture myself in Duna's orbit. I instead marked Duna as the target, and pointed my rocket straight at Duna and burned. Thinking I'll get there. Another time I was trying to go to Duna. And I forgot that you shouldn't aim for your orbit to go straight through the Planet. I remember too, cause I had just quicksaved my only save as I entered Duna's sphere. I couldn't do anything. Was not happy.
In celestial mechanics, an orbit (also known as orbital revolution) is the curved trajectory of an object such as the trajectory of a planet around a star, or of a natural satellite around a planet, or of an artificial satellite around an object or position in space such as a planet, moon, asteroid, or Lagrange point. Normally, orbit refers to a regularly repeating trajectory, although it may also refer to a non-repeating trajectory. To a close approximation, planets and satellites follow elliptic orbits, with the center of mass being orbited at a focal point of the ellipse, as described by Kepler's laws of planetary motion.
I'm definitely a time warper type, You don't know how many times I crashed into luna whilst trying to warp into an encounter with it, and the worst part is I usually forget to make quicksaves and I have to relaunch and make the same lazy mistake again. 😂

i remember i once used cheats and stuff to get into orbit of the sun in sfs and then attempted to land on mars by time warping until my rocket and mars just so happened to align 💀🙏
I ended up throwing satellites over the couple planets or moons I could actually get to and use them to discover stuff, I wasn't a very good designer or pilot so couldn't ever design a way back home but didn't have the stomach to send a pilot to their deaths
as a former new player for KSP1, i can confirm that 1 is not true, i knew what orbit was, but didn't know how to EVA, witch goes for most beginners, it might have been for you, but most people know what orbit is before playing KSP
