Cyan did a good job of selling the idea on Temple Island that the remake is going to be different this time around,; that returning players can't just rely on their preexisting knowledge and memorized puzzle solutions. The Fire-Marble Domes work completely differently now, Gehn's Wizard-of-Oz chair is in a completely different place, and the bridge to Crater Island collapses in a visual spectacle when you try to switch the steam vent on. (In the case of the last, though, I imagine that it was at least partially motivated by not wanting players to need to take a long, boring walk across the bridge in VR). The little details they added like the destroyed maglev to Prison Island, the fissures in Riven's oceans, and the fish swimming in the village lake were a nice touch too. I think the Magic Moiety Magnifying Glass _is_ a little video-gamey, but its also much more intuitive puzzle-solving tool for new players (if they're observant enough to find it before walking around cluelessly for hours first!).
They absolutely have done a fantastic job of keeping what made Riven special, but modernizing it for a new generation. Riven 2024 is my favorite game of the year so far.

Nice job on successfully figuring out the D'ni number system while people were feeding you false information.
Thank you! It was a lot of fun puzzling it out!
