As a ex employee i can confirm. I use to work at a clearance factory and we use to get one off shoes. We once got a batch of bred 1s and I just told my friends and family to come and buy them at the retail rate and I sold all of them and I bought 2 with my discount they came out to like $90.. tbh the discount is a good company tactic because my paycheck would go back into Nike. I did end up making an extra 20k of reselling shoes lol.
@@TMC_DEV got it. I was at Nike from 2000-2008. Lots of guys stayed 5-6 but only a handful stayed for 10 and got that lifetime discount. I would figure in years later turnover would be so high, 5 years is equivalent to what 10 years used to be. Congrats on that lifetime discount, it’s a great one.
As an ex Nike employee the deals are insane but not quite as good as he describes. You get 40% after the first initial discount, it does not add together for 80% off. So a $100 item 40% off clearance would be $60. The. 40% employee discount off the $60 would make it $36. 80% off would make it $20. Still incredible.
Years ago my friends and i use too go to the nike factory to get sneakers ( only vendors and employees were allowed to shop) the most we paid for jordans was $50.00(which were the jordan 21's that were $200 when they came out) air forces were $20.00 nike shorts and socks.were like $3-$5.00 we were up there every Saturday leaving out with bags. Word caught on some how and they put a limit on the same sneaker purchase, then them prices started going up and we stopped going. But for about 3 years we didnt know what full price sneakers were... fun times...
I used to work at a Nike flagship store and something I remember is anytime we were dropping anything exclusive (mainly dunks or Jordan’s) employees always got first dibs before customers did at that 40% off discount
I used to work at a huge Nike outlet store. Buddy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. You can get 40% off and another 40% off but it doesn’t equal 80% off. He for sure wasn’t a cashier… 👟 =$100 40% off $100=$60 40% off of $60=$36 40% + 40% off of $100=$36 80% off of $100= $20
I'm thinking on working at the Nike store in my local mall since my mom's gf used to work there and said she would help me get my future first job... Are the employee discounts real and if so, how much can I get off?
There was no exposing going on here, but, what most corporate companies in retail do. Be grateful Nike gives a discount. Home Depot throws everything away and doesn’t give a discount.
It doesn’t work like if something was 40% off it would add the 40% percent off then the total then minus another 40% so a 100$ shoe would go down to 60 then add the other 40% which would be 36
As a ex employee when i knew i was leaving i got a family member almost 200$ off by stacking the days that had sales with my employees discount they loved me for spending so much of my check back with them but when your getting flyknit all white forces for 25$ a pop how can you say no but this was 2017 so idk how things are now One of best steals i had and they did not have the shoes on the floor were orgeon kobe jordan chi 23 and some kds for under 300$ and the chi jordans were 265$ on release
These are facts as I also used to work at a Nike store too. He didn’t even mention the green ticket markdowns on the hash wall plus the sale and plus your discount on a pair of shoes. Good days at the swoosh.
Bad math for sure. $100 shoe at 40% off you get employee discount of 40% on the $60 price so it’s and additional 24 off. That means it’s 64% not 80% off original price.
Not true. I worked at Nike. If the store has a 40 percent sale, they take off 40 percent. Then they take off of 40 percent of the resulting price after that. So it’s not 80 it’s more like 50-60.
I worked for Nike for 1 day. Maybe its just me not being used to retail but I didn't like the way they search you every time you leave the building..break..lunch whatever. Annoying AF. Got my free pair, hoodie, T, n bounced lol.
Considering retail was $210 he only got 60% off. Which isn’t that much. I got 2 pair of WC3s for retail. I don’t mind paying the extra $$ knowing I’m not ripping off some innocent person Who just wants to wear nice shoes and it profit off anyone
20% off and 40% off does not equal 60% off. Example: $100 priced item, 20% off is $20 off. 40% off $80 is $32.00 off = $52 off. $52 is not 60% off. $60 would be 60% off. Stay in school 😉
stacking yes, but his math is wrong. you wouldn’t technically get 80% off. you would get your regular employee discount AFTER any discounts that comes with whatever you buy (40% full retail, 30% outlets or clearance) and then that would be calculated. so it would be like a back to school sale for 25% off. you’d get 25 percent same as any other and then your discount. they stack. but you don’t add your discount to another one and make it a bigger one.
As someone who lived in America and moved to Southeast Asia after college. If you think getting $100 for Nikes is a deal then you’re only shopping in america. As an American you are paying for taxes, shipping charges, and extra fees living in America and shopping in an American market. We make Jordan’s for leas than $20 over here and sell them for less than $100. Same shoe, same manufacturing, you’re being lied to and played. Word of advice for people who want to save money and not working for Nike for minimum wage & random yearly shoe incentives. Stay wise my friends.
One outlet let me stack my Nike app member discount on top of the store discount. I got my AJ1 stealths for $120. But the next outlet didn’t let me stack my member discount.
Unfortunately that’s not how that works, yes you get your discount of the 40 percent and then you get 20 percent which isn’t 60 percent crazy how consumers see discounts
