  • It’s not a matter of whether or not Alex Anthopoulos will make a move for the Atlanta Braves at the trade deadline, but how many?
Other questions in the mailbag include who the Braves should take the draft and are there are any recent Braves that might have their number retired.
We’ll touch on the Padres series as the Braves try to end the first half on a positive note.

I honestly think it’s outrageous to not retire Freddie’s number 5. He was the driving force and leader of this team through the rebuild and eventually World Series. We shouldn’t blame him for leaving with his agent screwing things up. Freddie is a legend in the Braves organization. He deserves to get remembered forever with a jersey number retired

Crazy that we set all those records last year, and we are likely to only have one hitter get over 30 HR’s this season.

@@treypeters1087 I 100% disagree. Obviously every hitter but Ozuna did not put in the work this past offseason and it clearly shows. When you are trying to play catch up during the season, you’ll lose against teams like the Phillies and Dodgers. If I was a pitcher for the Braves, I’d be pissed because they’re great.

@@PickedUpABountyCouldn’t be more wrong every one of them worked in the off-season. Clearly you don’t get this team. They have battled injury constantly and a number of the bigger pieces made adjustments. Austin is night and day different from earlier. Jarred turned things around and so did Ozzie. Still waiting on Matt but no one was expecting a league wide power outage. We lost Ron and Mike and multiple guys missed time due to injury. Makes it pretty hard to operate at their best. However they have proven to be very much in the race. Despite a lot of struggle they have beaten the Phillies twice already. Don’t need a division bye to win it all. In fact look what happened last year. AA will get help and fix the bottom of this order. Not every year will be record breaking but they will work until they are back to normal. Their normal is very good

We all say we need an OF but realistically how much will they play? Mh2 will be back in the first week or two of august and Duvall is showing a pulse and Eddie looks like the same dude he was last year so I’m going to assume snit is gonna snit and run the same guys out there everyday. I see eddie and Duvall platooning/ph for each other so we probably just add a bench bat and a pen arm. Some peripheral moves nothing huge. Maybe we add a bench bat that can play ss as arcia insurance.

Honeycutt has insane analytics and advanced stats. He is elite at just about everything except hitting the ball when it’s thrown in the strike zone. That’s the one reason he isn’t a top 5 pick. He swings and misses a TON but elite power, speed, arm, defense.

I understand that people want a big time trade BUT if you listen and have followed AA that's not really who he is and besides the Braves only have so many prospects to even consider trading. If people would look at L.Robert's injury history would you really want to trade for him? And also if we were to use any prospect capital could it be the more reasonable thing to use those for are SP. We don't know if they will sign Max, we don't know how Spencer Strider will be when he comes back. What we do know is that the Braves have a window of opportunity and not much SP that is for SURE in the future except for Strider. We have Smith Shaver-possibility, we have Schwellenbach who looks like that he can maybe hold his own, we have Waldrop-possibility. Just my opinion, AA needs to strengthen our SP posiition, just saying. Thank you

They are over the hump dude, they are already over the luxury tax with few other teams only!! Braves have money, yes, but they don't have Yankees or Dodger blank check book type money. They will be hit harder next year if they are over the luxury tax again as well.

The Braves scored 54% of their runs on HR's in 2023. In 2024, that's down to 48%. League average for 2024 is 43%. This doesn't seem like a "HR or Bust" number to me. The Phillies have scored 44% of their runs on HR but nobody is calling them HR or bust. The O's have scored 53% of their runs on HR but nobody calls them HR or bust.
The Braves have a "hit the ball really hard" philosophy not a "only swing for HR's" philosophy.
