Atlanta Braves Mailbag: How Atlanta Braves Can Address Offseason Needs for 2025
The Atlanta Braves face a pivotal offseason with key decisions on player health and potential upgrades at shortstop.
With a rotation possibly featuring Spencer Strider, Chris Sale, and Reynaldo Lopez, the Braves are poised for a strong 2025.
However, questions linger about left field and shortstop, with intriguing options like Ezequiel Tovar on the radar.
The Braves' offensive strategy may need a shift towards a balance of power and contact to enhance postseason success.
While payroll is set to rise, the team is unlikely to pursue high-cost free agents like Willy Adames or Max Fried.
Jorge Soler emerges as a potential trade candidate, adding another layer of intrigue.

Atlanta Braves 2024 Season Mercifully Comes to An End
Просмотров 4,1 тыс.14 дней назад
It has been a frustrating season for the Atlanta Braves and it finally comes to an end at the hands of the San Diego Padres in the National League Wild Card round. Max Fried put the Braves behind early once again and it was too much for the offense to overcome despite some late-inning heroics from Michael Harris. Hopefully he can stay healthy, and whatever it is that is not clicking for MHII on the stolen base front -- someone can work with him to pinpoint that and he can improve that aspect of his game. He's got the speed, so it's either reading the pitcher or mechanics of the jump/lead. Looks like the Braves lost faith in his ability or were concerned about his injuries.

I gotta be honest Jake, and it's probably because (well technically I never sell any of my Braves cards) but I have 2 guess you'd say higher end MH2's Rookie Cards, I've been high on him since day one...I will admit I noticed the pulling and roll-over ground balls this season a lot...and on his stealing...some folks will find this wrong because that's just how people are now, but if go and look at his quickness (not necessarily the amount of bases stolen) but his quickness has gone down, in my opinion, since he got the big $ bag...and I say this as a very very pro-Harris guy... he's gained weight...not put on weight as in muscle as some younger players will do, he "looks" heavier and his "quickness" this year just looked slower...I say this not knowing if it's completely true, but I can say if I'd been given that long term contract of 10's of millions at his age... I'm gonna probably gonna eat me a few things too, just being real...now I realize it could be something else, maybe health wise, maybe whatever, but he's not as fast (at the moment) as he was when he won rookie of the year...at least on the bases...in center field he still looks like gold all day, so maybe that alone blows my theory outta the water...maybe he's just not as good at knowing when to steal as I feel like I wish he was, maybe missing Eli at FB-coach has something to do with it.....either way, despite all that, I love me so MH2 and honestly think we haven't even scratched the surface on his ceiling offensively....I hope I'm right...great topic for a off season show...as always: Go Braves 2025 & Semper Fi'

I am probably not going to have a whole lot of people agree with me but I have seen A.A. make some dumb*** decisions. 26.5 mil for a left fielder who never has played well. Trading William Contreras and 5 other players for a catcher who completely forgot how to hit. Charlie Morton and his 100 million dollar contract after all the options were picked up. You let the face of our franchise leave after winning the world series. Brilliant move! 😂The foundation of our team was what Coppellella brought in Ronnie, Ozzie, Riley, AJ Minter, and traded for Max and Dansby. And yes i know all about his suspension which is b.s. considering the Astros cheated the game of baseball and stole a world series and got a slap on the wrist but signing 16 year old kids to more money is way worse. What a joke. I said when we won the World Series Snit and A.A. had 3 years to do nothing. Well times up its time to do something.

Hate to gut-punch ya, Jake, but I think the Sean Murphy move was the worst big move AA made. That being said, nobody's perfect, and the "bigger" moves he makes does seem to work out more than others. You've got to also look at the moves he doesn't make. Keeping Snit around for another year is probably more about loyalty and knowing he's only got a year left, than it is about a smart baseball operations decision -- if that even is an AA decision.

He was there for the bad times and he led during the good. And who knows what happens last year or the year before if he’s still a brave. Maybe he takes down a couple Phillies pitchers in October and helps change the course . No use in dwelling on it at this point. I honestly just feel that was a situation that should’ve been a given. @@kyleknapp1985 Freddie's wife and agent forced him to sign with LA because of the lifestyle and endorsement opportunities. Which explains why he took a cheaper deal (if you factor in taxes and deferrals) to go to LA than what the Braves offered. AA would have had to overpay him to keep him. Why else do you think Ohtani is playing in LA for $2M a year? Players want to go there to win and for the LA lifestyle, it's not just about money.

I have to mention this since Richard Rodriguez was mentioned. No one knew he was going to be bad, as MLB implemented the checks for foreign substances on June 21, 2021, and he was one of the offenders. From the start of the season till June 20th, Rodriguez's spin rates on his fastball was 2582 rpm and his slider had a spin rate of 2511 rpm, but from June 21st on, his spin rates on his fastball dropped down to 2323 rpm, while his slider took a massive dive all the way down to 1991 rpm. So he lost 259 rpm on his fastball and lost a whopping 520 rpm on his slider after MLB started checking for foreign substances. Rodriguez's slider spin rate had never been below 2150 rpm back in 2018, and his fastball had never had a spin rate below 2347 rpm before this, which was also back in 2018 also.
