Great video! I just bought my second i3 and I'm in love. Two main reasons - 1. I don't need a car as big as the Model 3 and 2. I don't really get along with touchscreens, for me navigating through the infotainment system is a lot easier with the iDrive controller. Teslas are cool, but they are not the right electric car for everyone :)
Congrats on the new car, Vanessa! You are absolutely right, Tesla's aren't the right EV's for everyone so it makes sense to get one that suits your lifestyle more :) Thanks for checking out the video!
Fully agree, LOVE my 2021 Tesla Model 3 Performance, so as every Model 3 owners I personally know (14). I ran it on 100% solar power for three months now, done over 3500km in Europe. It's a lot of fun and just so brillant in every way.
As soon as they refreshed it I placed my order for one. Picked up on the 29th of Dec. Got a full year of free supercharging and 3 months of FSD. Best purchase I have ever made. Watched all of your videos before I took delivery!
@Chris, sometimes during end of quarter Tesla offers incentives like that to convince people to take delivery to boost their numbers. Always a good idea to wait until then to buy :)
I'm a reservation holder. It wasn't the refresh though. It was my horrible charging experience with road tripping with a Bolt EV and the new LFP batteries that are supposed to be in the cars starting next year.
I ordered Model 3 Long Range in early October, took delivery in late December with 2021 Updates ( Happy Happy ) and my wife decided to jump and bandwagon with a Model Y Long Range.
The heat pump and chrome delete were the main reasons I waited for the 2021 model. Power trunk was an added bonus. Waiting for the next software update to hopefully activate the heated steering wheel??
@@JayWuOfficial I believe you I raced one from the dig and he was easily 2 cars ahead at 50mph I wasn’t starting to (slowly) wheel him in until about 80mph 😁
@@JayWuOfficial I agree I could also but I would rather make payments and have that money making money for me and also a cash reserve instead of paying the car off
I am about to order my Model 3. We’re South now so trying to time it for Ohio! The Heat Pump is needed at times there. A couple of questions yet, I’ve paid for 7-8 of these out of profits from Tesla alone.
@@JayWuOfficial Thank you, I had made some profits in 2018 on Swing trades so in late 2019 I bought a couple hundred shares at around $300-320 thinking of another Swing but it never went down, took some profits bought it back too many times & then just presses HOLD. The single best decision of my life. I’m 80 now & Ill never sell. Kids have been trained to NOT SELL at least until 2025 if I’m gone🙋♂️
Great video, Jay! I am ready to pull the trigger on the 2021, but there is one reason that is making me hesitate. It's the glass roof. I also live in California, in the LA area. Any insight as to how hot the interior gets? I know there are shades that can be clipped on, but would rather not intrude on the view.
Thanks Tina! I wouldn't worry about the glass roof. Sure the interior can get hot, but that's like with any other car. One advantage the Tesla has is that you can "pre condition" the car aka turn on the a/c or heat while you're still inside
@@JayWuOfficial Thanks for the reply! One more consideration for me...I have a 5 year old, who sometimes, reaches up and touches my current car's roof when he enters/exits the car. Do you think this will be an issue? How hot does the glass itself get?
Good to know all this but I've got to wait till june 2022 so I can finish paying my loan for my 2017 Camaro V8 then trade it in to get the Model 3 Perf Red 🔥😍
Getting my new 2021 long range in 4 weeks, I hope! From your video rep the refresh, two, points which are questionable, one is the heated steering wheel and two the auto dim mirrors, I don’t think this is correct as I’ve not been told this great news! But if so, it’s a bonus but doubtful ?
Congrats! I'm excited for you to get your car :) For the heated steering wheel and the auto dimming mirrors I believe those are still in the works but knowing Tesla it shouldn't be too long before those options are available
Hey I have a question. So I have the money to buy the Tesla outright. I saw your previous video where you advice against this. I don't have any credit at all due to the fact I was always raised to hate credit cards. So my question is, should I buy a Tesla to create and raise my credit?
Hmm I’m no financial expert but I’d say credit cards are the easiest ways to build your credit before you finance a car. As long as you pay it off before it’s due you won’t get hit with a fee or anything. In fact, some credit cards offer great deals like “spend 500, get 200 back within 3 months”. With that said you can see if you will be approved for financing for a Tesla but chances are it might be at a higher rate. Hope this helps!
If you're looking for safety, definitely go for a Tesla! Although if you want to get some practice driving in first, I'd recommend getting a used civic for a couple grand since they don't depreciate too much
Yeah I heard the CA rebate is exhausted at the moment. Personally I would wait -- especially since Tesla raised the prices of their vehicles recently as well
@@JayWuOfficial is it worth buying a used 2018 model 3 long range ? Should I wait for the used market to drop in 2022 ? I want a 2018 because it has the 980 motor and I can hack it to get 0-60 in 3.1 seconds using ingenext

There’s still the California state rebate which is for $2k and then another one that’s mainly for low income. If you check out teslas incentives page you’ll see all the ones available at the moment
The thing with me is that I'm stuck between the Model 3 SR+ and the LR. On one hand, when I did the math and plugged in some info on Abetterroute planner, there's no real significant difference between the 2 in terms of distance / charges (not significant enough for me to sink in the extra $10k). On the other, the extra miles would ease my soul and the premium interior / sound apparently is a game changer. What do you think? Is the difference noticeable between the 2? Or should I just buy the Model Y SR instead (which is basically a bigger Model 3 SR+)
I'm not a huge fan of SUV's except for the Model X so personally I would not get a Model Y if I had a choice. The Model 3 is awesome regardless of which trim you get. I think if you do a ton of driving and like to listen to music a lot then the extra range and sound quality may be worth it. You also get other features like the LED fog lights so if you can afford it, I'd recommend going for the long range :D
