Quick PSA! This video was supposed to be longer and have a segment on the Capoeira Fighter trilogy, but Vegas Pro blew up my source video footage while rendering and seeing as how this was already behind schedule, I cut it for time. It'll likely be in the eventual follow up video to this somewhere down the line.

Fun fact, the announcer for Super Smash Flash is actually Kira Buckland, who would eventually voice the likes of 2B from Nier, Mitsuri from Demon Slayer, and Jolyne from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. She even returns as one of the selectable announcers for Fraymakers, McLeodGaming's indie-based Smash clone.

I remember a fighting game cartoon network made called TKO, unfortunately you can’t play the game anymore because the game was a online game & the servers shut down for it. If i remember correctly i remember big chill or ultimate big chill being broken in that game because of the freezing that they can do was broken. You mentioned KoF:Wing at the end there, and I absolutely loved playing that. Started playing it around version 1.3, where it was just the 6 fighters: Kyo, K', Iori, Kula, Ryu, and Moriya. Went with Moriya due to him reminding me of Roy from Smash Melee.
I just fumbled around until I somehow learned how to play it on normal control scheme, and it was amazing. It was my first game where I learned how to do quarter circle inputs and Z-motions. Heck, I think it was my first traditional fighting game overall, nothing counting Smash.
Funny enough, I liked its in-match song so much that I made a 3DS theme so I can hear it whenever I boot mine's up. For some reason, the actual song keeps getting taken down whenever someone uploads it to RUclips.

    Lengthy comment incoming!
First of all -- fantastic video, this sure was a trip down memory lane! Will never forget when this one school I studied at were actually cool on playing flash games at the computer lab after doing activities -- Y8 was their go-to place! Eventually, I dug down the rabbit hole, and discovered other flash game sites.
Next up, thought I bring up additional fun factoids/tidbits on some of the games you featured!
    • *Bloody Rage* - One cheat code you can input in this allows you to access bonus heads on the game's Construct Mode. These bonus heads are more or less based on real-life personalities.
    • *Bloody Rage 2* - Despite the amount of "?" slots shown in the select screen, there's only five additional characters you can get (by just completing through Arcade Mode). They are: Hulk Hogan, Chuck Norris, Michael Jackson, Jesus Christ, and Iron Man. The Joker is also present, but he can only be accessed through the use of a cheat code.
(P.S: I remember the guys from Retsupurae playing both of these Bloody Rage games, it's hilarious stuff)
    • *Street Fighter Online* - From what I've heard, this flash game was originally titled as "X-Men vs Stret Fighter Online" (explaining the inclusion of such characters) and it apparently got Marvel's attention. So the flash game devs temporarily had it shut down to avoid a potential lawsuit then came back later with the "Street Fighter Online" moniker when the heat died down (and surprisingly were able to get through even with the Marvel characters still included). Also, another fun fact, some of the edited Ryu and Ken sprites for this flash game were actually lifted straight from the MUGEN Evil Ryu and Evil Ken characters made by the late Reuben Kee.
*Smash Flash 1* - Mario, Luigi, and Fox's sprites were edited from Mega Man 8 while all the Zelda characters were edited Mega Man Zero sprites.
Last but not the least, here are some other browser fighters that are worth mentioning/checking out!
    • *Mortal Kombat Karnage* - A fan-made MK flash game consisting of five playable characters and has fatalities! Notably, the game's stage backgrounds are endless (no walls).
    • *South Park Asskicker* - Used to be playable on the official South Park Studios website, unsure if it's been archived. But anyways, it's basically a whole shout-out to Mortal Kombat given by the UI, stage backgrounds, and the presence of fatalities.
    • *American Dad vs. Family Guy: Kung-Fu II Turbo! Hyper-Mega Edition* - Another officially-made browser fighting game featuring Fox's animated properties. Ryu makes a guest appearance, using the SFII sprites!
    • *SpongeBob Reef Rumble* - Before Super Brawl, there was this official SpongeBob flash fighting game! The main highlight here is Squidward, who's geared in karate gi and his clarinet projectile outright screams Hadouken.
    • *Powerpuff Girls D: Battle in Megaville* - This one is based on a fan-made Powerpuff Girls comic -- having an anime artstyle, some crossover characters, and an OC. Every fight has the "X vs. Zero" theme played at it.
    • *Kung Fu Fighting* - Title may sound generic, but it's got an original roster and decent gameplay! Interestingly enough, the voice clips and sound effects are all from Capcom fighting games, even the character portraits are traced-over Capcom art! To top it all off, Ryu and Saint Seiya are secret bosses you can face.
That's all. Looking forward to the follow-up video!

Teen Titans Battle Blitz and both Super Smash Flash games basically ruled the computer lab back during my school days. I remember Teen Titans Battle Blitz had multi-player added a little after all of the characters became playable. My friends and I had mini tournaments in all three games constantly. My Robin and Starfire became pretty hated among my friends. Same with my Lloyd in the Smash Flash games, especially in 2. As for other browser fighting games, Dragon Fist 2 was pretty damn fun too. Speaking of how Alien Hominid made the leap to commercial product, I was always hoping to see the person who made Sinjid and Sonny go that route. One game that absolutely needs to be featured if you ever do a follow up to this video is PPGD: Battle in Megaville. It's a pretty old fighting game similar to earlier Dragon Ball fighting games on the SNES based on a webcomic sequel to the Powerpuff Girls (that I didn't even know about when I played it, I just thought the designs were made for the game and that's it). It probably has aged very poorly and I remember the characters all played very similarly to each other, but it's the game that comes to mind when I think "Flash Fighting Games" alongside the Smash Flash duology and the Super Brawl games.
Also the game featured the X vs Zero theme from Mega Man X5 and I remember being so hyped when it was added to Smash Ultimate because I got reminded of this game.

It was based on a fan comic which is an anime themed cartoon characters like the Power Puff Girls, Rowdy Ruff boys, Dexter from Dexter’s Laboratory, and Zim from Invader Zim. I believe there’s also another character there that’s an original character, but I can’t remember her name exactly.

I remember Adult Swim had a fighting game called Bible Fight, wherein you fight as iconic biblical characters. There wasn't a massive roster but they included Eve, Mary, Jesus, Moses and Satan. Satan was the final boss.
Eve's moves were especially interesting. She could summon Adam to punch the foe from below, lob the Fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and swing the Serpent like a whip. Since the Serpent is actually Satan too, this enables you to whip the devil to death with himself.

Bloody Rage sure brings back the memories but there was another game that me and many of my friends jammed out...can't remember the name. You played as circles with hands and feet and could customize pretty well. Game had a map maker too and ton of fun modes (I remember there being a fun plunger match). I think the reason it was so popular at my school was that there was six player multiplayer I think. Anyone remember it? It was a smash-like fighter instead of a proper fighting game.

You might not know this but Smash Flash 2 has a deep and historic online competitive scene as well that (citation needed) rivals that of actual Smash games not named Melee or Ultimate, and has been going strong ever since the game got online play ten years ago.

Teen Titans Battle Blitz and the two Super Smash Flash 2 were always enjoyable in my end.
Selecting either the Titans or the H.I.V.E. was pretty fun in the former.
It still feels unreal that with the Smash Flash games, some of the characters chosen for fun had eventually transformed into legit Smash Bros. fighters like Meta Knight, Sonic, Mega Man, and Sora.

Oh my gosh, I remember so much of these! I remember being so blown away by the roster for bloody rage back when I came across it when I was 10 years old. My mom of course wasn’t OK with me playing it, mainly because of the name of it LOL. And how could I forget teen titans battle blitz? That was literally my introduction to the teen titans IP, as well, as one of my first introduction of DC comics in general back when I was 6. And don’t even get me started about super smash flash, that was literally what made me fall in love with the entire smash brothers concept. Are used to play both the first and second games so often on my mom’s computer. back then I wasn’t really too familiar with most of the characters appearing in those games aside from the Mario characters, the Sonic characters, Pikachu and MegaMan, so that was pretty much my introduction to other franchises, primarily Dragon Ball. To tell you the truth, I actually thought the anime characters were actually from other games, and their shows were just simply based off of them! LOL. And I very much enjoyed all three Nickelodeon Brawl games, even though I was more of a Cartoon Network kid back then, but even as I was a fighting game fan all the way back then, I still appreciated it. I can’t say I really remember the street fire one though, had I known they were marvel characters in it I definitely would’ve enjoyed it. On a similar no to that I’m actually surprised you didn’t cover Marvel tribute, because I thought that was pretty good back in the day

Back in 2008-2010 days I use to just go nuts with Flash Games and Grand Chase.
Ultimate Flash Sonic, Smash Flash, Newgrounds Rumble, Catscratch and Territory Wars are the first few Flash games I'd play everyday until I found out about Flash 2, SonicVSLF2 (which became the real creepypasta) and OpenBOR games. Smash Flash is also actually my introduction to Smash Series. It all started with just me searching up Sonic Games.
Unfortunate that I actually only able to learn about Teen Titans Battle Blitz and KoF Wing after the downfall of Flash.
(But one of the first nightmares I got are definitely from Happy Three Friends Valentines and that Mario VS Sonic War. I'm not as scared as I used to but dang seeing Happy Three Friends art will always bring back true horror for me)

One flash fighting game I distinctly remember playing it was Battle in Megaville, based on the still-currently ongoing PowerPuff Girls Doujinshi, which was basically my introduction to that webcomic. As a fan of PowerPuff Girls at the time, my mind was blowned. Not only it has the main three and Rowdyruff, but also Dexter from Dexter's Lab and a character that i have never seen in other media before, Bell. And when i get to the final boss using Dexter (arguably the best fighter in my opinion), i'm fighting Zim from Invader Zim, but because i never heard of that show at the time, i was like "who is that guy, and why he is walking on spider-legs? I don't remember him from PowerPuff Girls, but he looks cool as hell!". The gameplay itself is actually solid. Hope you can cover the game in part 2 someday.

I'll never forget being in 6th grade in the computer lab thinking I was cool playing that one anime based browser fighting game with the chibi artstyle. My crush at the time was sitting next to me, and while poking fun at it she seemed pretty engaged from what I remember lol. Wonder if I talked to her about it more (of course I was nervous as hell) i'd have steered her towards being both a fighting game and anime fan lol. Wish I remember what the game was called too, it was actually pretty damn good for what it was.
I also do remember the Teen Titans one, that was a well spent summer afternoon. Man good times.

I'm so glad I watched this, learned of a few games I've never heard of. Speaking of them, man
If someone remade SF Online with rollback, it would embarrass the hell out of Capcom. It'd be hilarious
Super Brawl is also new to me, and honestly 1 and 2 blew me away with the show-accurate characters.
Only wish this was longer so you could've talked about games you mentioned or used as b-roll
As for ones I remember. I have to shout-out Aetherena for having peak early 00s aesthetics,
being pretty solid even if never completed and being the first (Maybe second) place where I heard
Guilty Gear music (The intro to Project: Game Over by Dan-Dark used 'Still in the Dark' from XX)

Great video mate. Though there's one game from the flash era that keeps eluding me no matter how much I look for it. It used to be this 2d fighting game that took place in a city, a cliff, a very large area where you could actually punch or kick your opponents through! Characters could shoot energy like in DBZ, and they could charge melee attacks that would just make you go through a building or a wall like it was butter.
Lord, I still can't find the name of it. If anyone knows it would be a lifesaver.

Thinking about my time as a kid playing flash games and how fighting games are my favorite genre today i'm now connecting the dots as to where it started. There's a few flash games I kind of wanted to mention that I thought were worth talking about.
"Street Fighter 2" - I don't know if it had a real title or not but it was a flash game where you're doing a first to 3 wins as Ryu vs Sagat and Round 3 Sagat was genuinely the hardest challenge ever because he could plant multiple tiger shots on screen and had a 3 hit tiger uppercut that he would do frame 1 like an asshole AND he could juggle you with it. But man that game felt so well made it never registered to me that it was something a person just made as opposed to a studio. Kind of funny to think that game gave me the impression that Ryu's tatsu was multihitting and that it was all you needed to do a lot of damage, but it also gave me the impression that Sagat is always an overpowered bully so maybe it wasn't entirely wrong.
12 Fighters 2 - This was some really low quality shakey cam mess of a game that used SF3 3rd Strike assets but as a kid I didn't know what a SF3 even was so figured it was just some crazy talented artist (im stupid). It's not good but I remember thinking Alex looked badass and all the spritework of the characters and the hit effects pulled from 3S looked amazing even if it was all crunched down to a flash game
Avatar Arena - It was this official game on the Nick site where you picked one of the 4 nations in Avatar and just made a dude that would go through a tournament. You either threw junk or you tried to block/dodge. Pretty much the more startup it had the better damage or s you would get in return. It's simple and I feel like all the elements were aesthetic choices but I'm sure that game is the reason I can stomach zoning in real games because that's all that was in there
