I've been obsessed with this piece for years after seeing Frederic Croene's performance of it, so I was stoked to get the chance to perform it at the Sibelius Academy last December. Perhaps one of the trickiest things about this piece was finding the right facial expression -- I sent composer Michael Beil about 15 photos of myself trying different options until I got it just right.
