I’ve hung out with Jason a few times in the early 90s in Mississauga Ontario. I met him through a mutual friend. I haven’t seen him since the friends wedding in 2002. We hung around the pool at our hotel with Rick Santers and a few others. They talked music and I listened. Great times great music! Listening to this video. Rey brings me back! Wish you all the best Jason!!!!!
Nikki is such a great interviewer, you can tell what respect and interest he has in fellow musicians. I have only recently discovered this channel, but I love it!
Nikki is such a well spoken and kind interviewer. You can tell he really cares about what people are saying. This is my favorite new (to me) series to watch.
Some people are quick to judge Jason because of the band he's in but the truth is, he's an extremely talented guitar player. He's like a mix of Eddie Van Halen, Zakk Wylde, and Paul Gilbert. Plus...he was in the Alice Cooper band and that really goes to show how good of a guitar player he is...If you're a rock guitar player, that's the gig to have.
Killer Mean Street riff, Jason. Sounded GREAT. I've been an EVH fan forever and you just added a new appreciation for him. Thanks. Also, thanks for your honest feedback about Michael Anthony and EVH talking bad about him in the press. I agree with you.
Still amazing how gentle this host is with his participants. All one has to do is scroll back in recent times to when this man was part of a worldwide steam roller called M.C. The life they lived is legendary and not in a wholesome kinda way but yet, this guy could have been a guest on Mr Rogers neighborhood.
I love al these clips. Everybody is so passionate about guitar playing. And Nikki! I never really got into Motley but since a couple years ago I kinda discovered it and you guys were and are great.
Of Course Motley Crue's one of my all-time favorite bands love Five Finger Death Punch Jason hooks is amazing. The thing that blew me away about this episode was here and Jason hooks Play Kool & the Gang Jungle Boogie a lot of people don't remember what a great funk band cool in the game was before the 80s. Then they got it turned into the R&B pop band good for you Jason
jason is a great guitarist.. just watched him on Hired Gun Doc on Netflix.. The guy can play anything! Looks like he has a cold here lol! I hope he aint into the snow too much~!
It's bizarre to see guitarists who don't use the neck pickup. Why wouldn't you? It can sound killer in numerous contexts. I use it most of the time when soloing above the 12th fret.
Yes. I tend to spend 98% of my time with the bridge humbucker. Never been much of a lead player, but lately I have been going there. Keep going, dont stay still right? But I agree, playing up there beyond the 12th I like the neck humbucker tone. Particularly coupled with a wah pedal. That is an exciting place that I am looking forward to exploring.
So...curious about what gauge strings one uses when tuned to B? 13s? Nikki asked the question but didn't get an answer. Also, was that amp DI at some points or just miked up differently?
I honestly thought this was gonna suck. I always saw Five Finger Death Punch as the Nickelback of metal, but this Jason dude seems like a pretty cool guy.
OMFG...I belly laughed. I know exactly what he means about "spacing out" during solo phrases. Hilarious. I also get "Riffnosis" in the studio. That's where you do so many takes on something that you reach a place where your memory starts shorting out on the simplest things.
Ben Wong...if you are asking what tuning Jason’s guitar is tuned to in this video with Nikki. It’s Tuned to (from large gauge to small gauge) E flat. A flat. D flat. G flat. B flat. E flat. It’s a half step down from standard E tuning 440. If you are referring to his tunings on individual songs. It varies but I mainly think they are tuned to B.
Wow! I mean Wow! That was so crazy cool. Jason is a super awesome character and guitar player. Holy shit! Headed to Baritone#1. That was awesome!!!!!!!!! \m/ \m/
How black veil brides is treated is the same way kiss was treated. Nikki sixx told Jake and jinxx guitarist of black veil brides people will hate later they will love you

Jason has created tons of killer riffs.
What a humble unassuming guy, just a really good interview!
Yeah, I really dug his personality.
Jason is one hell of a guitar player!!
Nikki is such a great interviewer, you can tell what respect and interest he has in fellow musicians. I have only recently discovered this channel, but I love it!
Right? Such a different Nikki than the past. Humble, genuine, so friendly! If you're into this, check out Rick Beato's channel.
Nikki is such a well spoken and kind interviewer. You can tell he really cares about what people are saying. This is my favorite new (to me) series to watch.
I rember being younger and Nikki had a talk show on a local radio station- x103 and I listened to it all the time it was the best thing ever
That little amp is amazing, Jason's tone with all the different riffs was awesome and all he did was adjust the volume on his guitar
Yamaha THR10X, it's a beast of an amp
watch hired guns on netflix , Jason is a monster guitar player!
schecter seven AWESOME documentary! I believe Jason was the producer. I got hip to a bunch of great musicians!
I already liked Jason and after Hired Gun I have even more love for him!
Nice James! I loved showing that doc to my friends, and having them freak out over seeing Steve Lukather. We listen to a lot of Luke now :)
Great guitar player. Too band he's with a cover band like 5 Ginger Death Punch.
@@davelanciani-dimaensionx "Cover band" you're funny
Jason is a beast.......his laugh is infectious. This is the best show on the internet Nikki.
Some people are quick to judge Jason because of the band he's in but the truth is, he's an extremely talented guitar player. He's like a mix of Eddie Van Halen, Zakk Wylde, and Paul Gilbert. 4 of my favorite guitarists in one comment. Had to post!
He even played with Hilary Duff early in his career
Don’t forget his Ace influence!
Jason is such a talented player. And his acoustic playing is phenomenal. I would love to hear more of it incorporated into 5fdp
Such a great player, and I must say I'm an oldschool rock and metal fan. Hook is awesome!
Too bad he is in the Insane Clown Posse of the rock world. 5 Finger are absolutely terrible.
This is awesome! Two legendary guitarist getting together picking each other’s brains.
This was one of the best episodes. Dude played tons of stuff and considering the name of the show it is odd that that is rare.
Dude you are an AWESOME interviewer! That is some of the most riveting interviews Ive seen. I was hooked from front to back and sucked it all in
This was rad, as usual Nikki!! Now you gotta' get Zoltan on here... Ask him about the stuff he's doing for the elephants, etc.
This was great. I got nothing but love for Jason Hook.
It would be so awesome to see Satchel from Steel Panther on this show!
I love the stories to how and when the riffs were made!
just awesome! would love to see George Lynch on the show!
KEN5423 Five Finger Death Punch, really, never heard of them? You living under a rock?
He'd shred your face off, such a monster guitarist even with the dokken stuff
Got to jam with George in Vegas. Coolest thing I have probably ever done, lol.
Very kool interview great riffs Jason is a great guitar player love 5 finger they kick some heavy ass ✌️
Ace and KISS are underrated as musicians. Thank you, Nikki and Jason for recognizing KISS
Haven't listened to Jason's work in a while, but what a dude
Killer Mean Street riff, Jason. Sounded GREAT. I've been an EVH fan forever and you just added a new appreciation for him. Thanks. Also, thanks for your honest feedback about Michael Anthony and EVH talking bad about him in the press. I agree with you.
holy shit!..... that was a great episode brother!....youve got an awesome gig going there nik, congrats on all your success man
My favorite episode to date - entertaining for sure!

NIKKI you need James Hetfield on the show please.
as if James would show
Mad1dowg probably right but hey maybe one day.
Óh YEAAHHH!
He stopped doing the show ages ago
James wouldn’t come on this piece of shit show! 😂
Watching two musician talk, it is so intriguing. And hearing Jason play ❤️🤘 Totally love this!
John Petrucci from Dream Theater.....PLEASE!!!
Great interview. Jason is such an awesome guitar player.
Synyster Gates should be on here :)
Speaking as if I'm included in this conversation, War Machine. My fav of Kiss.
Awesome! Made me pick up my guitar!
I've binge watched all of these at work the last 2 days
I love al these clips. Everybody is so passionate about guitar playing. And Nikki! I never really got into Motley but since a couple years ago I kinda discovered it and you guys were and are great.
This guy is really down to earth and cool

This is my favourite interview Nikki has done
Jason Hook is incredible!!! Just love him!!! I would love to see Synyster Gates too!!!

Jason is awesome - funny, down to earth and amzing at his instrument.
This show is fucking awesome!! Love it! See if ya get Ace on the show Nikki
Nikki Sixx what a stand up dude...you can tell he is so passionate about music and the guitar in general..be that bass, electric, acoustic....
Hope he brings this back, Nikki seems like such a cool dude
Great episode. Learned a lot. Super appreciate.
NAILED the EVH! AWESOME!
Great episode Nikki!
Never really checked out FFDP but this guy won me over with the Van Halen riffs. Especially Mean Streets. 5150 was sick too
love this series...would like to see Nikki with a guitar jammin with his guests \m/
jason is a great guitarist.. just watched him on Hired Gun Doc on Netflix.. The guy can play anything! Looks like he has a cold here lol! I hope he aint into the snow too much~!
I love B to B tuning , I listen to alot of Carcass, their guitars sound HUGE and amazing :D
Okay, dumb question.. is that black bar on the Explorer a pick guard of some sort?
in the Premier Guitar rig rundown, I believe he says its to cover up the electronics? so that way he doesn't have to have a pick guard
It’s just a casing to run wiring through
It's wire loom used mostly in automotive wiring.
I have two 2008 Gibson Explorers, a white and a black, the white one does have a wider neck.
What's the song on 14:27?
live wire ...motley crue
What is the Cheap Trick song that he is talking about he borrowed from to create Too Fast For Love?
Good interview. Fan of FFDP
I was waiting for this. Awesome! You know you can't mention Da Do Run Run without mentioning I was made for Dancing... Just saying ;)
Great show Nikki \m/
Wonder what he keeps looking to the right at?
G-Funk most likely his lady...
Yeah right! It was a bit disturbing. Still: cool episode.
Very oft putting, like he's constantly looking to see if she's there or wanting her approval. Cool guy though.
🤣 "It's really hard to woe a chick with a floor tom at a camp fire"
Such a way with words 😊
Never paid much attention to these guys, but he's a cool dude.
For a guitar player, Best show ever !!
Nikki Sixx, i have a whole new respect for you |,,/
Good shit bro
Cool Man!
Who does Jason keep looking over at when answering questions?
You two should get a project together. Both Awesome musicians and killer Dudes..🤘🤘
Super cool Show 🎸📽🎬😈🎪🎉
Not a fan of Five Finger Death Punch but he seems like a cool dude.
I hope you can get mick on here!!
William Kampert probably unlikely 😔
Ah man, I never knew that about Richie!!!
Nikki....gotta get Dave meniketti on here...you both toured together back in the day
Dave can flat out wail. Y & T baby!
Who is here after he left 5FDP ?
It's bizarre to see guitarists who don't use the neck pickup. Why wouldn't you? It can sound killer in numerous contexts. I use it most of the time when soloing above the 12th fret.

13 to 66 as far as I know! that's what Zoltan (the other guitar player in the band) uses
thanx mang
13-70
Zoltan uses 13-66 because his guitar scale is a little longer
@nikki I think I heard a subtle challenge for you to get Ed VH on the show... that would be special
oh yeah! i like this guy. i didnt recognize the name . i always thought this guy stuck out from other players of his time.
Nikkie your just cool as fuck been a fan sense 84" thanks for the free uploads here..really cool an learning alot..
Fletcher Dragge, Eddie Clarke, Kerry King, Eddie Van Halen, etc.
Nikki, it would be awesome to get ace frehley on your show
Bluppy Eastman ace has been on the show before. Only Jenn did the interview. If you’re interested we could throw it up.
Sixx Sense I had no idea, I'm fairly new to the channel. But I dig your channel. It would be an honor if you could throw it up for me
Jason Hook is awesome and I hate that he is no longer with FFDP... it's just not the same but his new band is wicked!!!!!
I honestly thought this was gonna suck. I always saw Five Finger Death Punch as the Nickelback of metal, but this Jason dude seems like a pretty cool guy.

Get Ace frehely on the show!
Vortex Ninjaa a must
I love KISS!
what tuning is ON his guitar, I mean in the video?

@@hondared88 Yea i figure that, anyway thanks for the reply (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ
Saw someone put an R2-D2 figure in their neck pickup cavity lol
Obviously, Jason was hugely influenced by George Lynch. Even his late stage posture shows it.
Wow! I mean Wow! That was so crazy cool. Jason is a super awesome character and guitar player. Holy shit! Headed to Baritone#1. That was awesome!!!!!!!!! \m/ \m/
“...it’s hard to wooo a chick with a floor tom...” 😂😂😂
That shirt is hysterical.
Great job niki love that shit
How black veil brides is treated is the same way kiss was treated. Nikki sixx told Jake and jinxx guitarist of black veil brides people will hate later they will love you
Never really liked explorers but his are really awesome
Curious if you would ever have RUclips guitarists on as a guest....ie Jared Dines, Rob Scallon or Stevie Terryberry
Frequencies_Illuminated he should they are world class guitarrist
Frequencies_Illuminated if we had time, we would for sure
Time to turn into a fanboy.......Nikki love your songwriting, your style and your positive vibes
Sad they ended the show before....
Drum Genius actually is a FREE app. Killer Gibby!
Really cool to hear him play without zoltan, nothing against zoltan just interesting to hear how it sounds without a second guitar
If you really want to hear Jason by himself look up his solo album that he brought out in 2007.
I can't believe there's no comments, I must be first to say something.
How'z it goin', Cersades?
It would be cool to see John 5 on here!
