Wyatt Langford and Evan Carter have been added, only Monty and Garver have left and we should have deGrom back this year. I cannot overstate how important the two young rookies will be on this season!
My favorite batting stance has to be Ryan Howard's. Growing up he was one of the cornerstones of my hometown Phillies, and as a young ball player, I would imitate his pointing at the pitcher and then the rest of his stance, only difference was I was a righty.
Just discovered your channel. Lifelong baseball fan and this sport is keeping me mentally sane lately. Now that the world series is over (Dodgers!!!!) I'm subsisting on highlight reels and youtube to get me through until spring. Subbed!
Excellent video. I’m proud to say I knew about the Moe Berg and Andrew Toles stories from Level 7, although there were things from Levels 2 & 3 that I have never heard of. Great stuff.
Thanks for this. It's eye opening to see how a fan can explain the game to people who don't know it. (And even though I'm an American and a fan of the game since the '60s, I learned a couple of things from this video!)
I think dynasties are a part of the rule of 3s. It has to be a span of 3 years of dominance. Chicago Bulls winning 3 championships made them a dynasty. (one of the main determinants of serial killers is having 3 separate victims/ killings over a space of 3 weeks or a month.) Most determining factors of greatness consist of the rule of 3s. (3 championships, MVPs, 3 great stats)
An obscure baseball fact that I really like, is the nickname of Phillies pitcher Hugh "Losing Pitcher" Mulcahy. Every season he had more losses than wins. He led MLB twice in losses, and he led the league twice in in Earned Runs. He was a better career hitter than legendary Phillies pitcher Roy "Doc" Halladay, though, so that's something.
You actually did a very well job on this. 👏 I wondered what this could be like seeing an IceBerg But this is even better than I imagined You break the game down in an hr hlf 👏👏 Well Done
One strange part about this video was at 38:00, when NMF said that Judge hitting 62 homers set the franchise record and got everybody excited for some reason. I mean yes, that first part is true, but a little reductive. Judge broke the Yankees, American League, and players who haven’t had to testify in front of congress about their alleged PED usage single season home run record, a record that has been seen as one of the most illustrious ones in all of baseball. Besides this strange little bit, this was an excellent video as usual, and goes to show how spoiled we baseball fans are with quality content.
21:00 - I agree that there’s no real definition to a Dynasty, but most people agree you need at least 3 rings and usually were the favorite for the years you didn’t win. I’m a Giants fan, people call our 3 rings in 5 years a “Dynasty”. But we missed the playoffs the other years, and were never the favorites. The 90’s Yankees were most definitely a power house dynasty. In basketball, the Warriors. In football, the Chiefs *vomit* and obviously the Patriots before them. So the Astros are one WS away from being a legit “dynasty”
100% should not walk back on Derek Jeter's defense. Even if "unreliable", DR points to him being the worst Shortstop by a VERY large margin. He should have either swapped with Arod at third, or switched to left field.
At 22:17 for longest drought of consecutive champions the NHL/hockey one is wrong since the Pittsburgh Penguins last went back to back in the SCF the Tampa Bay Lightning won the Stanley Cup in 2019/20 and 2020/21
Brandon Belt probably has my favorite batting stance but idk how much that has to do with his actual stance rather then how smoothly it transfers to his bat drop
You should have mentioned the only death during an at bat in mlb history. It was a Cleveland Indians shortstop, Ray Chapman, who was killed by Carl Mays when a ball struck his head during his at bat. The pitcher was known as a very aggressive one, and the day was especially cloudy. Combine this with the dark brown balls, and Chapman likely lost the ball in the clouds. This incident sparked a change in the baseballs from being covered in chewing tobacco, to being a much lighter colour to be easier to see by the hitter.
54:23 so I was a catcher growing up, I quit to play lacrosse but now have an 8U son who catches. I taught him framing and an umpire told him every time he frames he’s calling it a ball. If he’s framing it’s because he thinks the pitch was a ball therefore the ump is going to assume it was. I could not believe he told an 8U player that 😂

Like I said it depends on how you view it. I know some people need to see at least 3 championships in a 7 year window but I’m a bit more lenient on that. With all that being said, 2 championships is the minimum.
