I still have my K5 and have no intention of upgrading unless it expires. 16mp is plenty of resolution, it's weather sealed, build like a tank unlike a previous Canon I owned, relatively small and has superb image quality with limited lenses. Once you finally realise you won't be a better photographer by buying the latest model then you can get on with just taking photographs.
I love this comment! It IS a fantastic piece of kit, and you are right about coming to a point where you stop chasing gear as a solution to your own short comings. That what got me on this kick of older gear and getting the basics down more (hopefully). I still have my K-1, and hope to use it to its full potential one day!
Honestly considering that's it's sensor performance after 11 years is STILL better then modern day apsc sensors in terms of dynamic range i don't see much need to upgrade either if you are only a photgrapher.
Fully agree 16MP is more than enough for 99.99% of people, and I guess if you want to print something billboard size.. then you might.. need more. Great, great camera, a classic.
I own Pentax k5 for almost 7 years. It's indeed a great camera both in specs and build quality . In past seven years l had upgraded so many gadgets :smartphone, tablet, laptop, sound system (3 times lol), tv...but have no intention to get rid of my Pentax k5. :-)
I absolutely love the Pentax K5. So much in fact that I have 2 of them bought used with less than 3K on the shutters. Best part is that they were under $250.00. I have been shooting Pentax since 1977 and have a lot of Pentax glass, both MF and AF. The best kept secret in the photography world is the Pentax "dynamic duo" the humble 18-55mm and the 50-200mm lenses. I have 4 18-55mms one for each camera bag. Great for close up work. Just crop in post and you don't need a dedicated macro. I am saving up to a 3rd low mileage K5 just because I love the way the camera performs. It was designed with the photographer in mind.
I have owned a *istDL, *istDS, K100D Super, K10, K20, K7, K5, and currently a K3. It's a long story. I have owned some decent F, FA and DA lenses over the years but never had any Limited series glass. The 31mm and the 43mm appeal most to me.
HI. Are there any reason to upgrade from K20 to k5(K5iis is on a local market with very nice price)? In general i want to have more ISO to use(k20 with more then 800 is not good for me), a little faster brains, maybe a little faster autofocus on FA/DA lenses. in all other things K20 is far enough for me.
The K5 has an extraordinary dynamic range and the quality of the pictures that results from is really incredible. I still have my own K5 but I now shoot with a K3 mark III, although I haven't still determined if this newer camera produces better photos, except at high iso.
I have the K5 IIs. For budget reasons I went with the 20-40 f2.8-4DA limited. And I am loving it. For a real gem of a compact zoom look at the Pentax-F 35-70 f3.5-4.5. Small, sharp and really cheap. Usually found on a SF series film camera that people usually pass over.
I see what you did there 😂 Thanks, I don't really know how to use it. It's the rylo 360. Price has dropped quite a bit on those if you're willing to buy into what might be a dying system...
I personnaly still use my K5 with the three following limited in casual use: 21/40/70 and for my travels I replace them by my samsung 18-250. Then I do not fears to use it, instead of my more modern and expensive K1.
That sounds like an amazing setup. And that's smart, because sometimes the best shot means you can't baby your camera :) the K-5 is more than capable of getting those great shots and is way cheaper.
Due to watching this video I bought myself a k-5 for last Christmas. I paid $300 for the body & kit lens, but both were rated at excellent ++. I'm delighted. Thank you, sir.
I just paid 300€ for the same package. It's my first dslr camera. I'm going to learn photo shooting with the kit lens first, but will upgrade lens after some time for sure. Can you recommend a good all around lens for a beginner with k-5?
I went full-frame a few years ago with the K-1, but my guilty pleasure is still using the K-10D I bought in 2005. Heck, for that matter, my 1984 Nikon FM-2 is in operating condition. I dare not separate with that one - it knows my history! But, hey, who can afford film on a retirement income 😏
bought mine 2 years ago with an catseye for 250€ and use it for lokal festivities and stuff... add a fast prime and the world is yours! AF is also not that bad considering that most of my pictures are taken in low light like 1/15 f2.0 iso 2000 low light. that SR is surly something i underestimated when i joined the pentaxians. its always funny when the people wonder why there is no flash and see the result :) hope corona is a thing of the past soon, i miss crowded festivals! i know iso 2000 is to much for some pixelpeepers but im hunting memorable moments not 11/10 super magazine prints ;)
I bought the K5 new. I've bought and sold many cameras since, Olympus, Fuji, Sony, whatever, but I keep the K5 because I love the colors. Mostly use it for portraits, with adapted KA 100 (105?) and 85 lenses.
This is my second comment here. I have just bought the K-5 for the second time. I had it ages ago. You're right! Maaaaan, it feels like a modern camera. I can't believe it's already 10 years old! I manage to get one for a good price which includes the 18-135mm. I went for a photo walk last night... Only gripe is that the live view lags a bit. On the same day I received it, I saw a very cheap K-5 with the legendary Pentax K SMC 28mm 3.5 locally. Long story short, I bought it for much less than market value of the K 28mm 3.5. It was a good day for bargains!
K5IIs is still my main body and it still rocks. Highest rated body on Pentaxforums. I'd get the DA 20-40 limited if I could. Very nice glass, little out of my budget.
oh uuh, you can set iso to the wheels for whatever mode, so you don't have to use the button. depending on the mode I always set the outer wheel for either ev or iso on my IIs its e-dial programming on page 5 :)
Love the fact that the K-5 has a lowest ISO setting of ISO 80. Absolutely superb used with a Pentax 40mm f2.8 pancake lens acting as a 60mm 'long' standard.
I also have a K10D and a K-5II. The K-5II is the perfect camera for me. I bought it new when it came out and it is my main camera now. As far as the Limited lenses go I suggest you try the DA 35mm f/2.8 macro Limited. Rented one some years back. That thing is beautiful!
I started out with K-x, quickly moved to K-5 and loved it for years! Where I properly learned photography. Today K-3 II has replaced it, but still would be happy to use K-5. For the Limited recommendation - of course it would be depending on type of shoot. I have all five SMC DA Limited primes, DA15 is quite special with small size, for me perfect wide angle for landscapes/cityscapes, and of course - starburst! DA21 is very good all-round travel, DA70 a very good and compact portrait/general short telephoto. DA35 with dual macro/std prime is fun for close focus experimental but not my ideal focal lenght, neither optimal for serious macro work (you basically end up touching your subject with the lens). I think DA40 is a bit weird focal length on APS-C (and your FA43 would fill the same purpose).
Good feedback about those lenses, thanks! I think it'll be a matter of seeing which ones I can get deals on and then just trying them out. I really like the compact size.
@@douglasjackson7020 I've thought about the old FA 35 f/2. I had the 50mm 1.4 FA and I really liked it actually, despite some obvious weaknesses. Just sold it because of the 43mm which I liked better.
My favorite part about putting out these random, weird, niche videos is realizing that there are other people out there that are into what I'm into. I'm honestly shocked anyone ends up here. It makes me smile. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment ;)
same in here i was thinking about selling it and get a new canon, and the reason is also that i had never seen a video for the k5 but now i did and in 2020 proud of it hhhhh
The K5 is the best camera I have had. Not for motorsports (it performs) but anything else. Using one is super easy, the camera helps you out of your mistakes and is amazing how it takes shadows up easily. One of the most pleaseant cameras to work with. So much that when we upgraded my Dad's, we went for a K5
I still have a K-5. Was going to sell it after getting my K-1 but for the little money I would get I was reluctant to sell. Sure I also have a K-01 (awesome travel camera paired with the DA 40 XS and DA-15 + maybe DA-70) but the K-5 is still a great back up camera to the K-1 (even though I have not actually needed the backup) or for clocking up lots frames in timelapses. Not sure what K-5 lenses to recommend but I quite liked shooting the DA-70 on it and DA-15.
Interesting you mentioned the Canon 5D mark II *RATHER THAN THE 5D MARK I WHICH I JUST ORDERED* Great videos man. I see people relish the brevity but I must say that it leaves me wanting more. Regardless, awesome work :)
I've heard about this lens from a few people for being a better performer than people seem to remember. I have the M 35-70 2.8-3.5 which design is quite different. It's quirky and has poor handling. The F looks much better :)
@@snappiness You've probably bought one by now, but if you haven't they're dirt cheap on Ebay. Mine is quite good wide open, and the AF is also shockingly good and not that loud, BUT, with all the heat and humidity this summer, the zoom ring is getting a bit stiff.
Hi, regarding your ISO button problem: on my K5 IIs (which will meet its successor the K3 mark III today :-) you can program the dials for each exposure mode, and most allow you to allocate one dial to ISO. I almost always shoot in Av, with aperture on the back dial, and I could add ISO to the front dial. The option is in the ‘camera’ menu nr. 5, ‘Program buttons’ or something like that (my menu is in French language). Hope that helps.
@@snappiness I've got a k5iis and the smc f 28: my favourite lens! Great sharpness and colors. The 40 limited is also beatiful, but less usable, too long. The 15 is not as sharp but very practicle for a wide angle. It's perfect for walks in the mountains.
@@snappinessout of the smc f 28 you have the smc a 28, manual with the same lenses, or the smc fa 28, with a different optical configuration. The smc f 28 is more difficult to find. There is a lot of discussions to know wich one is better. I think it's about the same. The photographer will make it a good lens!
I have a K5 since 8 years. I bought the camera for my first trip to the Sahara desert and since then I took it with me to more than 10 long Africa trips. My K5 has now many scratches and some buttons get stick sometimes, cause of all the desert dust. But it still works, I think nothing can kill this camera. I thought about "replacing" the K5 with the new K3 III, better/faster Autofocus and stuff, but don't know if it's worth the money.
Wow! Amazing adventures. I spied on your RUclips channel a little bit ;) Very cool. Do you have a Flickr or instagram showing some of your work? As for if it's worth it to replace for the new one, only you could answer that. I'm sure it would be a wonderful technical improvement in a lot of ways, but would that actually make a practical difference in your photography? That's something I have to ask myself a lot.
@@snappiness Thanks. My channel only shows a little part of my adventures. In the past I didn`t film that much, but for future trips, that will change. I have an Istagramm page, look for "thejourneyahead_youtube". But most of the images their are shoot with a smartphone or my good old analog film slr. The biggest pro argument for the newer K3 III would surley be the faster AF. Sometimes I want to shoot something out of my car while driving. The AF from the K5 is sadly often to slow. And after all my K5 is now 9 years old. If it dies on my next trip it would be a terrible loss, but not a big financially like an brand new K3 III. But right now, I don`t know when my next long trip will be. We planed to drive from Morocco, down to South-Africa in one trip. But Corona made this trip right now impossible. Maybe 2022, but I think 2023 will be more realistic.
If you want to be light and compact or you are traveling the 15mm Limited + the 43mm is all you need on APS-C. When you shoot on the K 1 and film, better get the 77 over the 70 because you can juse this lens on all cameras.
@mipmipmipmipmip The K-5 II and IIs had an improved autofocus system and other minor updates. The major change as far as the K-5 IIs is concerned was the removal of the anti-aliasing filter, giving slightly sharper images.
"More than adequate sensor?!" The Canon and Nikon fan boys were squabbling about DXO being biased. But topping out the DXO test chart was this "thing." Eventually; "I can't stands it no more." So I bought one - a Pentax K5. Bang. My Canon 60D hit the floor as fast as gravity could fetch it. The K5 sensor was blinking brilliant!! . . . but then the thing I hadn't expected; and you are right; there isn't a spec for this. The moment I picked it up; it grabbed me and dragged me across the floor; like one of those little torpedo things that scuba divers use to pull themselves along under water. It said "take a picture of something NOW!" And it was like that everyday afterwards. Even the mock plastic leather felt better than the Canon. It was so utterly engaging. It wanted to take pictures and it dragged me along behind it. Oh I had to fix it under warrenty for that silly battery thing. Then it worked for 4 or 5 years. Then it did that blurry picture thing after switching on. It needed a new sensor to fix that. Gulp. Then it went on for another couple of years; then the stabilization packed up again. It was heartbreaking. I couldn't justify a sensor again. A new sensor was more than buying a new one. That was that. I did Canon again for a little while more. Right now I am doing Panasonic M4/3. But oh I miss that feeling of being dragged along looking for a picture.
"Dragged along looking for a picture" - That's a great way of describing it! I couldn't agree more. Bummer two fizzled out on you, but sounds like you got some good use out of it. Those Panasonic M4/3 are some great cameras too. I owned a GH3 a little bit for video and am looking at picking up another model again.
@@snappiness I think the K5 is the reason I am struggling a bit with the M4/3rd. The DXO tests had this K5 way above any of my Canon gear. The fan boys were yelling fake and I had to know. So I bought a K5 to find out. I got a second hand 50mm f1.4; a God-of-a-lens when I was at art college. I slapped a 40 year old manual focus lens, on the front of a digital camera; and I figured I'd have some fun. It was great! -and that lens was as good as it had been; back in the day. After the K5 broke; I kept the lens and I stuck it on the front of the Pan GX9. It fared "OK-ish" after a fashion. But then the other lenses, I put on the front of it, were knocking the limits too. M4/3rd is, what was the word you used; "adequate" for doing the day job. But the disparity between the size of the sensor, and the resolving power of the lenses, is now taking it's toll on me. The images are fuzzy on a 21" monitor. And there is nothing left when you click on them to zoom in. My 40 year old 100mm f4 macro Pentax produces images equally sharp as my "made for it" Panasonic 30mm f2.8 macro lens; I know we are at the ragged limits. It's not the end of the optical science; we photo etch computer chips at incredible resolving power. But rather the lens makers are trying to keep to comparable pricing and that is missing the point. At the moment; there is nothing with enough resolving power with a M4/3rd mount on it. As things stand; that K5 was the most "Wow" I got.
Yes k5 is a great dslr. Had my lens button repaired when it broke. Have the 15mm, 35mm and 70mm limiteds - like the 15mm best. Also have the 16-85mm as a weather sealed walk about lens. I don’t think the k5 is the limiting thing in my photography - it’s me! Im enjoying your videos - thanks.
Replaced K3 with K5iis, more sharpess, better color and noise. WB is amazing good no matter what lens you use, very easy for after edit work. This may be the best DSLR in term of color in CMOS pentax. Recommend to own it if you are extremely emphasis on correct color reproduction. Loving your channel subscribed 😁😄👍
My K5 is awesome. I love the oddball FA 77mm f/1.8. Also the manual focus A series 50 f/1.4 is sweet as butter. Everything else I shoot is Tamron. I have a legacy Tamron 90mm f/2.5 adaptall 2. It's super awesome and was my go to lens for portraits before I started picking up AF lenses.
I don’t think I’ve come across that Tamron before but sounds brilliant. Every time someone mentions the 77mm, my will power takes a hit. I will soon be unable to resist, haha. Nice setup. Sounds like you get some nice shots with that kit.
You mean 10 years after release... and yes it is still very usable. Mine has over 140k shots and is being used as main camera while I'm waiting for the K-new... which is almost 6 years delayed. Lens release button can be fixed in service. Same for ISO button. Lenses I can recommend? Sigma 35/1.4 (no better lens optically exist for Pentax.. it even has less CA than new DFA*50/1.4) Sigma 8-16 (widest rectilinear AF lens for APS-C K mount) Sigma 17-50/2.8 (best fast APS-C zoom) Sigma 70-200/2.8 HSM II (fast focusing lens with smooth bokeh) Sigma 100-300/4 EX DG (oh boy! wildlife and plane spotting miracle) Pentax FA*24/2 (low light wide champion with great contrast) Pentax FA35/2 (cheaper alternative to Sig35/1.4) Pentax DA40/2.8 ( pancake marvel) Pentax DA70/2.4 (small portrait cuteness) Pentax DFA100/2.8 WR Macro (macro and portrait) Pentax DA12-24/4 (perfect light-source stars and great image quality) Pentax FA28-105/3.2-4.5 (cheap, old, plastic.. but very capable!) And DA18-135WR you already have, which is perfect "going light" lens for everything, although the image quality is rather weak in borders. Another lens "for everything" is Sigma 17-70/2.8-4.5, which was my first lens bought with K20D... it is balance of everything. Image quiality acceptable even for wedding, AF can go very close, it is wide and long enough (perfect when paired with DA55-300), build quality is good.. and prices today are very low for this old version. Extra bonus Sigma 50-500 EX DG (longest affordable lens for K mount with brutal range)
Wow, thank you. I'm not sure why I had 2014 in my head. I think the k-3 was released by then. I think a lot of people on in your shoes - stuck with the K-5 all these years and seeing if this next gen is enough reason to upgrade.
I have both Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 and the gem of all of them to me the Sigma 100-300mm f4 and i can confirm those are incredible lenses. Specially the 100-300mm. Fast focusing and produces amazing images. But what's going on with the Tamron 70-200 AF?? I tried one (maybe the first version) and it was veeeery slow! I thought the Sigma 70-200mm would be the pick there! Oh and a lens that is also very nice is the DA* 50-135mm f2.8. You can easily convert it from sdm to screwdrive focus and is not fast for motorsports (it can work thought) but it is very nice and sharp.
@@danigonzalez4299 I picked up a cheap Tamron 70-200 2.8 a month or so ago, and it's been good to me on this body so far. No major issues, but I haven't use it a ton. Didn't seem super slow. But I did have a tamron once, 28-300 maybe? That was very slow. Might have been something wrong with it, I sold it as malfunctioned it was so bad to me even though I never found out what the issue was. Maybe it was just slow xD
Thanks for posting your suggestions. I have been shooting with my K3 for a year or so and am looking to add to my all rounder Tamron 18-250. So far just an A50 1.7 which I love but the range of Pentax and third party glass is pretty daunting so your list is really helpful, thanks.
Thanks for the review of Pentax K5, last 2 years ago I have Sony A77 and Pentax K5. I already thinking that I would sell my K5 because of the negative reviews I saw on RUclips. But because of your honest reviews and from Gary Fong's videos on k5 instead, I decided to sell all my Sony's stuff and chose Pentax cameras which I never regret it. Though the AF is not at far with Canons or Nikons I can manage to deal with its AF dilemma. Thanks, I'm hoping you'll stick with your honest and hands-on reviews on Pentax...
I hope you enjoy it! Great camera. I don't know how it compares to the Sony, but you gotta go with your gut. I've bought and sold cameras based on what other people said and was always left disappointed. Just shoot whatever you like!
GREAT video, as all of them! Just found your channel looking for K-5 videos since I'm about to buy one. I could literally copy and paste the first sentence of your intro above, since I've wanted one for a while. I've been shooting Pentax since high school with the M42 threaded mounts. So when I went Digital in 2005, the *ist DS was the logical choice. Now, if I could only find an affordable Super Takumar 85mm. Keep up the GREAT work and stay safe!
The K5 is a good sweet spot. A lot of modern stuff packed in there without a hefty price tag. Good pick. Yeah, the 85mm is pretty pricey. I searched for a long time and got a deal, still pricey, but less than the $300 they go around usually. It's good to have as a dream lens, but really even the 50 1.4 Tak is so good. Many other M42 lenses as well. As I'm sure you've noted. I got a video coming soon about one on an *ist DL, actually :)
My first and so far only DSLR is the K-5. Still have it. Still love it. Hard to use EDC since iPhones do decent but I definitely take my K-5 on special trips. I would love to find a decent tele lens for air shows.
I liked my Pentax HD DA 55-300. The newer PLM version doesn't work for the K-5 I've read. Not sure what reach you're looking for or your budget, but there's a start :)
@@snappiness I’m honestly not sure how much I want to spend. I just looked up on Amazon a Pentax HD Pentax-DA 55-300mm f/4-5.8 ED WR Lens for about $400. I think it was $100 more last time I looked. Don’t know much about that particular lens. I agree the K5 is still a good camera. I live in Colorado and a trip to the Maroon Bells a couple years ago in the fall yielded a shot worthy of print and framing.
Add me to the list - I got the K-5 back in 2011 or something ... and never felt the need to buy another DSLR. My favourite lens with the K5 is the 20-40mm limited. It's a great combo, both weather sealed and beautiful pictures. 16MP is enough, the DNG files are great. The only drawback that I can think of is that it doesn't save the files very fast.
Thanks for this informative and enjoyable video. Your review motivated me to buy a used K-5 body (12 k shutter clicks) to replace my venerable K20D. As I like to use a camera to its full potential) and thus make very infrequent purchases, the K-5 will be a noticeable upgrade experience. DP Review noted little IQ justification to spend about $120 more for a K-5ii vs a K-5. We shall see ;)
Having used all three (K-5, K-5 II and K-5iis) I would agree. The K-5iis has a bit of a noticeable advantage having no AA fitler, but the plain K-5 is just so good. I think you'll really enjoy it.
best pentax lens I've ever used since I started in 84 is the 55mm f1.8 K.. an old lens but wide open the thing is creamy and glorious.. best 50 ever.. and at f8 it's sharp. Also, I have an ISO button problem too on my K5.. I've found by pressing it with my finger between the two buttons but closer and behind the ISO button hard.. you can trigger the ISO edit mode.. then repeat to turn it off. I think there is a weak point in that button assembly.. perhaps the original user spilled cola on it or something..
Im k5 user for years, best image came out from Sigma 30 f1.4, sometimes its backfocusing but if you got the right focus the image is incredible, got samyang 8mm, tamron 1750, tamron 70300, and K200D as backup.
In the first time using this sigma i need to calibrate the focus several times, then it works fine, before that im using pentax 35 2.4 its fast and accurate focus is good but the bookeh is much better on the sigma. Plus i didnt use pentax limited glass because the price is sooo expensive 😂😂
They are pretty pricey, or else I'd own more for sure. I'm actually gonna pick up the 35mm 2.4 to play around with soon. I've seen samples and it looks like a way nice lens for the price.
Sold my k-70, bought a Fuji X-e3 nice camera, but not for me, cant really get to like EVF's. Bought a mint condition used K-5 II for peanuts, its just great, all controlls in reach, no need for the LCD display. Great camera.
Just scored a K-5 yesterday, mostly based on this video as well as a lack of any K3 in the local classifieds. Got it for about $110, it has 17500ish actuations on it, may or may not come with a 18-55, depends on if the seller finds an endcap or not, and two batteries and a charger. Still not beating the K-7 I got last year, with the entire kit set, WR 18-55, ditto 55-200, the rest of the sundries and battery-grip for $100. Getting that in the stable would cover me for 6, 10, 14 and 16 MP Pentax cameras, with the K100D, K10, K7 and K5. Just leaves me out a K3 of sorts, either the base K3 or the K3II and I am sorted Pentax vise, untill further notice. Lets not metion the digital 645s, please... 🙂
My first K-5 survived dips in the sea and a river, then finally died in the sea. I then had k-5 iis which was even better, with sharper images. Then moved on to K-3 ii. They're all great cameras, but forget the video funciton and I think the AF is the main letdown. It's not super snappy, but improves depending on the lens choice. These functions aside, they achieve more than the Canon 7d ii in a lighter, more compact body. As an almost "disposable" hacker camera you're not afraid to get wet, drop, ding, lose or get stoled these days, just grab two and who cares!
Loved the presentation style of this clip. You ought to be made of some sort of Pentax material! btw do you own a *Samsung GX-1S* with a kit Xenon *Schneider* lens! as well? Just curious.
In your picture I see what really used to bother me with the pictures from my K-5IIs. The Pentax colors. Somehow, they're always to dark, oversaturated in some colors, but others are pale. It persists in modern Pentax models. I now have profiles to correct them though.
Thanks for this quick review ! I own all DA HD limited lenses, and the 43. They are all very great lenses but they have less personality in their rendering, except maybe the 21mm (32mm FF equivalent), so this is the one I would vote for.
@@snappiness the 43 is magic, I use it on digital (k3) and it's my favorite lens for film photography. The HD da limited are awesome but the 43mm has something else...
I have 15mm in both SMC DA and HD DA. I'd be happy to loan them to you for a video. See message on PentaxForums. I learned about the legendary starbursts of the SMC DA 15 this spring, and I was so keen to get one that I settled for an SMC DA 21mm in the meantime (the 21mm and 15mm have the same aperture blades, and thus VERY similar starbursts). The 21mm has actually become my favorite everyday lens. It's…not particularly good (?), but the photos have a color and a character that really works with my style. Plus the starbursts at ƒ/11 are flat-out sorcery. Even though I now have 2x 15mm Limiteds, I use the 21mm so often that I can lend the 15s to you for a week or two if you'd like.
What about the 21 mm is not particularly good? I seen them used for about three or four hundred you seem not particularly good but then say good things about it
@@unbroken1010 the Pentax-DA 21mm Limited has no standout specifications other than the all-metal construction. f/3.2 is slow for a modestly wide prime lens. Macro close focus is meh. 21mm in APS- C is not wide enough to be interesting. And the 21mm gets lens flare (the 15mm is superb at controlling lens flare). So I would not have purchased the 21mm on the basis of its features. But the tiny size of this lens and its fantastic starbursts (unless ruined by too much lens flare) make it my favorite. It is easy to use, lightweight, and the color is quite good. Before I had the 21mm, I hadn't realized how much a lens could affect the color saturation of a shot. Think of a singer or a band that might not have the fastest fingers or the widest vocal range, yet still sings a song that feels good and true. That's the 21mm Limited.
i upgraded to the K3 because of the better AF. I love my 77mm limited for the portraits. But the purple fringing lines a awfull. now i made the most portrait with the new 50mm/f1,4 and the K1.
That's interesting about the fringing. I ditched the old FA 50mm 1.4 for that reason. It showed worse on crop, on my K-1 is wasn't that bad but liked the 43mm better anyway. Good to hear the new 50mm 1.4 is better.
I’ve just won a K5 ii, kit lens with a very low shutter count. I use vintage Pentax lenses on my mirrorless Nikons but wondered if they would perform on my new Pentax? (I’ve got the 50mm 1.7, 100mm f2.8, 135 f3.5, 28mm f2.8 and the fa 50mm 1.7
@Snapiness What do you think? Do I need to get new K3 II or stay cheap and go with K5 with HD Pentax DA 55-300mm F4.0-5.8 ED WR + Smc Pentax DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL WR + SMC Pentax F 80-200mm F4.7-5.6, Super-Takumar 55mm F1.8 with M42 thread and adapter. All that for 550EUR?
That seems like a really well-rounded kit. Maybe on the pricier side of things, though I'm not sure how prices are different overseas. I would think a better deal with be closer to 450EUR. Certainly would produce lovely images. Nice telephoto lens. A good manual focus bokeh lens. Up to you!
ahhhh! i love my k5 :), i normaly shoot with my k3II but ill never be getting rid of my good old and trusty K5. i did a friends wedding with my k3II and used my old k5 as a backup with the DA*55mm f1.4. was a lot of fun :). on my k3II i shot with my sigma 18-35mm F1.8 Edit - cant wait to see the new pentax crop senser camera comeing out at the end of the year :)
Those are super nice lens pairings. I have yet to use either but have heard good things. I miss my K3, and often think of selling stuff and going back to it. Sometimes I'm not sure why I even sold it for a K1. It did everything I wanted and more. The K5 gets me almost there right now for cheaper, so that's good, but I think one day I'll go back. I'm also excited to see the new camera and what they bring to the table for a flagship. Since I thought the K3 was pretty much perfect, I'm sure they can't go wrong haha. But I know some people have specific expectations, so we'll see. Unless I get too wrapped in the hype (it's happened before) I'll probably grab it two years from now at a cheaper price. I'm always a few years late with stuff xD
@@JorgeLopez-ub8dz if you have the money to buy the body and the lens(es) you need, then the K-3 over the K-5. But I've learned it's worth it to prioritize lens lineup, so if that means you have less money for the body the K-5 is an amazing camera still to this day. I guess it also depends on why you're interested in photography, and how important any feature upgrades are gonna be to make it possible. I'm just a hobbyist who mostly loves landscapes and nature, so it's easier for me than say someone who has a specific need to shoot wildlife and might actually benefit from a faster frames per second, for example. As for the K-1, it's great. And for my use case of landscape, there are no drawbacks. I just think sometimes it's more than my hobby and skill level really needs. Sure the shots look great, but do they look any better than my lighter and much more affordable aps-c setup? No. That's a debate anyone can have, but especially for where I'm at. For now I've decided to keep it along with my aps-c for a few random reasons. Maybe I'll make a video about that in more detail. This message is getting long haha.
To be honest basically any pro level camera that came around 2010 is still impressive from Canon or Nikon too...Back then they knew how to make a tank that take photos, unlike the garbage we get now...
@@snappiness Absolutely agree. Not long thereafter they all (except Pentax, of course) started chasing numbers big-time, and all that nonsense number-chasing led to the mirrorless "revolution" - ugh.
The impression I get, is not to stress about the K-5 that's on it's way to me. Would have loved to see some video samples - the K-5's were the final body to keep Mjpeg instead of the over compressed h.264, and have Sensor based IBIS, which has only just returned on the K-3iii. Planning on getting a second body in the next few weeks, for a Stereoscopic photoshoot.
@@snappiness Got several identical lenses, Sigma 28-80's and 70-300's are everywhere,... but also the KM 50 1.4, should make it all fun. AU $260 with three lenses and battery grip, Bar-gain! Oh, and the K-5 paused on it's way to be tested with a FA* 28-70 2.8,... :D
I got one a few months ago for 300 Canadian dollars, with a lens. Its the cheapest camera I've ever bought, and yet its also the toughest and has the fastest continuous shooting of any camera I've ever owned. I take it out in the woods and beat the shit out if it.
I love the K-3 - I'm really interested to see if the new flagship coming out is going to carry on this k-3 legacy or not. I just had no complaints with that camera. Just got greedy and wanted to try out the K-1 😆 Please forgive me, my poor K-3 😫
AF and SR are way better but unless you are in the dark i'd say the k5 is the better choice. cant wait for the new k3iii tho, maybe i can snap a cheap k5iis then hehe
The K10D and the lens really depends on what you're going for... This DA 35mm in shooting right now is a great budget autofocus option that is equivalent to a normal 50mm on APSC.
The only reason this camera is not still the god of bang-for-your-buck Pentax DSLRs is that either the camera cannot or Pentax will not update firmware to take the new KAF4-series lenses. That still leaves it with a lot of good glass, though. For all-purpose all-weather zoom, DA 18-135. For a good general-purpose prime with a field of view roughly equivalent to 50mm on full-frame, the DA 35/2.8 Limited Macro cannot be beaten. If you must have a fast fifty, there are enough FA 50/1.4's from the film era that you shouldn't have a problem finding a good one cheap.
That's a good point. I think all the lenses I have owned/plan to own in the near future are old enough to be compatible, but it's an important clarification of compatibility. I've heard great things about the 35 limited macro. And I've owned a FA 50 1.4 and loved it. Only sold it for my 43mm, which I realize aren't really the same lens, but for my use case it covered both and I liked the 43mm a little better. :)
Really nice video, I always look for videos on the k5 series and this is the first video showing the true capacity of this little camera. I’ve been shooting with the k5ii for about two months now, I usually shoot with a smc Pentax f/2.8 50mm or a Sigma 18-50mm f/3.5. Which lense would you recommend for recording with the Pentax k5ii? The lenses I have are not the best therefore the video quality is not that great. I would like a lense for urbex and normal vlog related videos. I checked online but I couldn’t find anything reliable, if you could recommend me a lense that will make the video very crisp and neat, I would appreciate it a lot!
I have not used either of those lenses, but I'd shoot video on the K-5. In fact, I have a video coming out this week that the broll was shot on it. If that Pentax 50mm 2.8 is a macro then it should be sharp. Generally speaking and not getting too detailed, if you can get sharp photos, then that will translate to video. So, being familiar with the strong focal lengths and apertures of your lenses for sharpness will help. The main issue is that the video on the K-5 just isn't super good. Or, let's put it this way, it's always soft to some degree, the bitrate is super low, you're stuck at 30fps, autofocus doesn't work, and the exposure metering can get out of wack so you're stuck in manual there. The good things going for it are that the colors are pretty good so it helps makes up for lack of grading capability, it has mic input, and then at least video is there. Better than nothing, haha. But it's not all gloom and doom, just means you gotta get really good with the basics of video to get it to look decent. Good lighting and good manual focus techniques help a lot. I'm a big proponent of using what you got a lot and getting really good at it before looking at new stuff. It's easy to get stuck in the thought that, oh, if I just had that it'd be better. Usually it's just our own skills that can improve. That's my problem at least. All that being said, some affordable lenses that are good for vlogging (you need that wider angle). The kit 18-55 is actually not that bad, and some versions can be pretty sharp. Super cheap. More expensive is the 18-135 which is a great photo lens as well. Rokinon 14mm I've used for filming and is sharp wide open, wide, and easy to focus. But maybe pricier and less versatile. Though it makes a good wide angle landscape and great for astro, if you're interested in that.
snapppypic Thanks man, the few lenses that I’ve used are old vintage Pentax lenses, I’ve heard that the Rokinon 14mm is a good wide angle and I was actually thinking of getting that lense. I’m not expecting any fancy footage from the k5ii but I just wanted something decent for filming. I don’t wanna throw the towel just yet, I want to master the k5ii because I’ve been shooting with it for less than three months.
Yeah have fun with it and get creative! You can learn lots of filming techniques for getting better footage that apply to all cameras, because it'll be hard to find K5 specific stuff about video. Also I forgot, because color grading pretty much doesn't work because of the files you get out of camera, I've found its better just to play with the in body color settings until you get something you like.
I don't recommend getting a DA21 or a DA70 Limited primes. They are fine lenses but rather dangerous. You see, when you get your fingers on one of them (and I see you already have your eyes on two) you will discover that there is nothing comparable anywhere in the photography world. These lenses are small-ish, deliver outstanding image quality and each of them has its own character. Besides that they are superbly crafted, it is a pure joy you will feel simply by the mundane act of changing lenses. They are tactile and nice to the touch. However, their are dangerously addictive. You start with one or two as I did (DA35 and DA70). Then you absolutely must have the DA15 or DA21. And once you have 4 of them you will want to complete the holy grail with the DA40 which is truly the most surprising one. You should not do the same mistake as I did, as a bought the DA40 last, because you should get it first! The lens has outstanding quality and character which will change your photography quite a bit. It did change mine.
Hey I just picked up the k 5 2 with a 50mm getting some pretty nice stuff I do have one weird thing I can't figure out. In live view the camera does the zoom in function every time on autofocus. Is there no way to turn that off? I find it a little slow and unnecessary. I also snagged an 18 to 55 DC Sigma brand new for 15 bucks. It's quite nice for a lens. I'm really pissed off that it does not have a aperture ring. Because if it did I would use it for other cameras in a second. But I think they do make some adapters with apertures for mirrorless.
Yeah there should be a setting for mapping the punch in zoom in live view to different buttons. Sounds like someone mapped to the shutter or AF button.
@@snappiness oh thank you very much man I tried to find it I'll have to look a little better or maybe I should just reset the whole thing and start over again. That Sigma lens I snagged from B&H you can find it listed in the used section but it's brand new in the box. $15 you can't go wrong. The guy told me they just bought a crap load of them years ago. A tiny bit of waiting on the rubber but other than that they're perfect. I'm going to look again for that setting I might try to hit you up if I still have a problem with it. I'm very pleased with the color I'm getting. The autofocus on the viewfinder has been completely fine I'm just trying to get Center focus on the live view and then I always recompose from there. Hopefully that's a doable function. The basic 50 mm it's not bad stopped down I gave a old spiratone 20mm I'm going to run some tests on and then I have to Pentax 20 mm 3.5 an old one but it's Sharp on my Sony so I expect it to hold up pretty well do I have to be registered on the Pentax refurbished site to do a buy now. They got 15 mm up there for 250
Did I hear that the ISO button on this K-5 is broken and you switch to bulb to change the ISO? Why dont you change the dial settings? Unless you are useing P or TAv you can have ISO on one of the dials. I love my 35/2.4 on my K-5. (not a limited)
Yep, haha, another photographer quickly pointed that out to me and it's a great solution. I have two or three settings I change (maybe more than that) on all my pentax bodies but then I don't touch anything else. I forgot how customizable they are! Another bonus! I've great things about that "plastic fantastic" lens. I'll have to give it a go sometime.
I know someone that's selling a K5 2 with two manual lenses the 135 and the 50 vintage lenses were 350 is that a pretty decent deal got a low shutter count and is there any focus peaking and how accurate was it it's a tough call the xe3 Fuji is on sale for $500 right now which might be fun to
I don't believe it has focus peaking, but it does have a focus indicator in the viewfinder. That only works well with practice, as it is not precise enough for slim DoF shots without knowing where it is landing consistently. I've owned an xe2 and xpro1 before. I really like Fuji cameras, they are very fun. But they are very different types of cameras, both in handling, the lens lineups and of course the viewfinders. So pick whichever type you enjoy using more, and if you don't know, try it out for a while and see!
@@snappiness thank you for the feedback you know I had a ko1 or ko1 you know the one I'm talking about the big ugly Pentax😀 I actually thought it was beautiful and I know what you're talkin about my indicator was pretty precise but I don't really shoot things wide open I'm kind of over that shallow depth of field I don't know where the picture was taken sort of thing. Don't like street photography or documentary with shallow depth of field makes zero sense. Anyway yeah they're two very different things one is me testing myself and I do own a bunch of m42 and k Pentax glass.. the other is again being able to have a camera that I can adopt. Most my glass on and more current tech. That xt3 for $1,000 is also a steal. but until we know the future it's a little too much money to spend
Which lens do you use on your K5?
Honestly considering that's it's sensor performance after 11 years is STILL better then modern day apsc sensors in terms of dynamic range i don't see much need to upgrade either if you are only a photgrapher.
What lens would you recommend for the k5?
Fully agree 16MP is more than enough for 99.99% of people, and I guess if you want to print something billboard size.. then you might.. need more. Great, great camera, a classic.
Same here. My first camera was a dsrl, year 2012. It still is the camera I'm using today. K-5!!
I just bought a Pentax K-5. Seems still a relevant camera in 2023. Best of all, the build quality is amazing.
I own Pentax k5 for almost 7 years. It's indeed a great camera both in specs and build quality . In past seven years l had upgraded so many gadgets :smartphone, tablet, laptop, sound system (3 times lol), tv...but have no intention to get rid of my Pentax k5. :-)
What lens ?😁
Genuinely enjoy your Mattias Burling style videos of hidden gems. Good to see someone focus on Pentax too. Love it.
Thank you! That's very kind. Trying to shine some light on these cameras that so many people enjoy but aren't often shown on camera.
Somebody needs to give that special effects guy a raise! Bar-none, the best intro to any photography related media on the interwebs.
The battery grip with a second ISO button resolved that problem for me and makes it even more comfortable to use.
Well put! I agree. It's a no comprimises camera at what is now a steal for the price. No wonder so many still shoot with it!
@@snappiness Now make it 4 K5 cameras .
That sounds like a killer combo!
that intro was fire! Also love your implementation of the 360° cam. Keep it up!
Great! Have so much fun with it! A really nice camera even by today's standards.
Bought mine shortly after release and still going strong. Fantastic all around with the 16-50mmDA*
I love deals like that :) I also love that 18-135. Good combo.
@@letch1529 Awesome! I knew there had to be a way. Jut didn't dig deep enough. I'll try that.
That's a very interesting lens. But yeah, pretty pricey.
@@snappiness yup, one of my bucket list lenses tho. pretty sweet glass.
Thanks for the recommendation! I will definitely be on the lookout for one, I like that focal length :)
Just got K5 delivered yesterday. It's in great condition cosmetically and it came with 4 lens. Hope it deliveres well.
Very cool! Have fun playing with it!
I have the K70 and K1mk 2. I love them for Astrophotography, and Landscape photography.
@@snappiness I concur with the DA15/4 and the DA70/2.4. Any of the 35s are great 2.0, 2.4, or 2.8. Or go even more retro with the M 3.5
@@douglasjackson7020 I've thought about the old FA 35 f/2. I had the 50mm 1.4 FA and I really liked it actually, despite some obvious weaknesses. Just sold it because of the 43mm which I liked better.
This channel is right up my alley.
My favorite part about putting out these random, weird, niche videos is realizing that there are other people out there that are into what I'm into. I'm honestly shocked anyone ends up here. It makes me smile. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment ;)
This video makes me miss my K-5! Regarding the limiteds, I’m aiming for the two amigos. 💪 I don’t have them yet but would be cool to see you try it!
Man oh man I want to try them so bad but they are pricey. The 77 and 31 sound sooo goooood
same in here i was thinking about selling it and get a new canon, and the reason is also that i had never seen a video for the k5 but now i did and in 2020 proud of it hhhhh
@@abdelwadoudbr253 i just bought one again 😂 this time, as a backup to my k-1
Interesting you mentioned the Canon 5D mark II *RATHER THAN THE 5D MARK I WHICH I JUST ORDERED*
Great videos man. I see people relish the brevity but I must say that it leaves me wanting more.
Regardless, awesome work :)
Haha, the Mark I is also a killer camera - grats on ordering one!!
Pentax honestly makes the most interesting cameras. I'd recommend da 15 limited
My favorite lens for my K5 II, which I recommend over the mark 1, is the classic F 35-70mm f3.5-4.5.
The 35mm f2.8 macro...insane closeups tack sharp
Oh yeah, my workhorse, ruggedness and quality written all over it!
Glad to find another fan of the camera 👍
Among Pentax digital cameras, my favorite is k5iis, which has the best image quality.
Yes, thank you! Someone else pointed this out shortly after I posted this. Can't believe I didn't think of that!
Still using my k7, bought it when it was first released, for what i do, it does the job........
I have a K5 ... Been a Pentax junkie since my k1000 40 yrs ago.
Enjoy your videos and great photos! Thank you,
Thanks for stopping by!
I love my K-5... and I love it even more since I recently got a smc pentax-f 28mm f2.8. It is maybe not a limited, but what a crispy lens!
Ooo, very nice. That's a tough to find lens. Good size and great focal length on aps-c, in my opinion! I haven't shot it but sounds like a keeper.
@@snappiness I've got a k5iis and the smc f 28: my favourite lens! Great sharpness and colors. The 40 limited is also beatiful, but less usable, too long. The 15 is not as sharp but very practicle for a wide angle. It's perfect for walks in the mountains.
@@lioneldm5130 you're like me. I prefer those wider angles. I'll need to pick one of those 28mm's up sometime and try it out.
I spied on your RUclips channel a little bit ;)
Very cool.
I like your thinking 👍
I still have my K-5, but I think the best of that model is the K-5 IIs.
That’s a really nice setup! Yep, I still can’t get everything out of the k5 that it can do.
Replaced K3 with K5iis, more sharpess, better color and noise. WB is amazing good no matter what lens you use, very easy for after edit work.
This may be the best DSLR in term of color in CMOS pentax.
Recommend to own it if you are extremely emphasis on correct
color reproduction.
Loving your channel subscribed 😁😄👍
Thanks Paul! The k5iis is very well loved by those who have used it. Hard to find though! Maybe because the owners don’t want to give them up, haha.
Sigma 35/1.4 (no better lens optically exist for Pentax.. it even has less CA than new DFA*50/1.4)
Sigma 8-16 (widest rectilinear AF lens for APS-C K mount)
Sigma 17-50/2.8 (best fast APS-C zoom)
Sigma 70-200/2.8 HSM II (fast focusing lens with smooth bokeh)
Sigma 100-300/4 EX DG (oh boy! wildlife and plane spotting miracle)
Pentax FA*24/2 (low light wide champion with great contrast)
Pentax FA35/2 (cheaper alternative to Sig35/1.4)
Pentax DA40/2.8 ( pancake marvel)
Pentax DA70/2.4 (small portrait cuteness)
Pentax DFA100/2.8 WR Macro (macro and portrait)
Pentax DA12-24/4 (perfect light-source stars and great image quality)
Pentax FA28-105/3.2-4.5 (cheap, old, plastic.. but very capable!)
And DA18-135WR you already have, which is perfect "going light" lens for everything, although the image quality is rather weak in borders.
What do you mean the buttons can't be serviced why can't they fix them
Any value lenses/straight up bangers for the k-5 you would recommend on a budget?
The da 35mm f2.4 is a great autofocus lens for under $100.
I love the Pentax brand and pro lenses. Great value and built to last.
I love my K5, still my main camera.
You're not in the minority, I can see now why people would stick with it. Why upgrade?
thank for doing this video, I still using my Pentax k5 ii S, no AA, produces sharp images, weatherproof, magnesium body
Killer camera. Nice 👍
Just bought one still in the post! can't wait 😁
My 2 favorite lenses right now are the Asahi SMC 50mm f1.4 and the Takumar 135mm f2.5.
That sounds like a great combo. I keep forgetting the 20-40 is WR. That combined with the optics everyone raves about has me interested...
@@snappiness I got it to take pictures of my kid, the 20-40 works well on APS-C. It feels a bit like a modern-day Takumar.
Got a used kx and loved it. But it broke while I moved into my new apartment. So I'm looking for a K5 now
Great video and great photos! Keep uploading.
Thanks! Comments like this motivate me haha
best pentax lens I've ever used since I started in 84 is the 55mm f1.8 K.. an old lens but wide open the thing is creamy and glorious.. best 50 ever.. and at f8 it's sharp.
Sounds like a good kit! That sigma is a beast of a lens, good choice.
@@snappiness yes 35 2.4 is good when it comes to price & performance, no issues i got from 35 2.4 produce good quality pic and colour,
Sold my k-70, bought a Fuji X-e3 nice camera, but not for me, cant really get to like EVF's. Bought a mint condition used K-5 II for peanuts, its just great, all controlls in reach, no need for the LCD display. Great camera.
K-5 ii is a great camera! Perfect buy nowadays. Have fun.
It’s a great point! Especially for the price they are going for these days. Will last a super long time and keep you happy the whole way.
Loved the presentation style of this clip. You ought to be made of some sort of Pentax material!
btw do you own a *Samsung GX-1S* with a kit Xenon *Schneider* lens! as well? Just curious.
I love both of my Da*55mm and the Super Multi Coated Takumar 50mm 1.4 on my K-5 .
Haven't tried the da*55mm but heard it's a beast of a lens. Very nice.
In your picture I see what really used to bother me with the pictures from my K-5IIs. The Pentax colors. Somehow, they're always to dark, oversaturated in some colors, but others are pale. It persists in modern Pentax models. I now have profiles to correct them though.
Always impressed with people that know how to make their own profiles, good deal!
I still use my k5iis, has the best ergos and weight. I would suggest the da 35mm macro, it’s awesome.
I'm hearing a lot of recommendation for that lens, I'll have to give it a shot!
Love my k5 but really tempted to get the k3 iii.
Thanks for this quick review !
I own all DA HD limited lenses, and the 43. They are all very great lenses but they have less personality in their rendering, except maybe the 21mm (32mm FF equivalent), so this is the one I would vote for.
On my list!! Seems like a good one for sure. Love my 43 a lot.
You're awesome, thanks. Message returned. Very cool about the 21mm. I'm going to have to look up those star bursts now...
Up to you!
ahhhh! i love my k5 :), i normaly shoot with my k3II but ill never be getting rid of my good old and trusty K5. i did a friends wedding with my k3II and used my old k5 as a backup with the DA*55mm f1.4. was a lot of fun :). on my k3II i shot with my sigma 18-35mm F1.8
Edit - cant wait to see the new pentax crop senser camera comeing out at the end of the year :)
I'm always a few years late with stuff xD
snapppypic So you would say that given the chance, one should strive to get the k3 over the k5? And what is wrong with the k1? thanks for the video.
I agree! That seems like the golden era of digital cameras in my eyes.
@@snappiness Absolutely agree. Not long thereafter they all (except Pentax, of course) started chasing numbers big-time, and all that nonsense number-chasing led to the mirrorless "revolution" - ugh.
Use "Deoxit" to fix your button
If you like moderate wide angles, I'd go for the DA Limited 21mm f3.2 lens. I got mine used for $200 from B&H.
I've been eyeing that one very closely. The compact size mixed with my favorite focal length (the 35mm equivalent) seems like a winner.
Ooo, that sounds interesting. Best of luck 🤞
@@snappiness Got several identical lenses, Sigma 28-80's and 70-300's are everywhere,... but also the KM 50 1.4, should make it all fun.

Oh, and the K-5 paused on it's way to be tested with a FA* 28-70 2.8,... :D
Does a K5 have a socket for off camera flash cable attachment? Even my old, old K1000 has one! thank you.
I got one a few months ago for 300 Canadian dollars, with a lens. Its the cheapest camera I've ever bought, and yet its also the toughest and has the fastest continuous shooting of any camera I've ever owned. I take it out in the woods and beat the shit out if it.
This is how Pentax gear should be treated. 👍
I use a 18-250 lens on my K-5, love it would recommend
Nice walk around lens :)
The DA 21mm f3.2 limited is on my K5 all the time.
I really want to try this lens. Looks so sweet.
I upgraded to a K3, well, it seemed like an upgrade at the time, now I'm not so sure...
My friend shared pictures of a pet with this, I was literally amazed, this has to be some 15k$ camera, oh no, it's a K5 from 2010??? WTF
K5 and K3ii owner. I literally get one in-focus image out of 10 attempts auto or manual focus K5 or K3ii, the cameras simply cannot focus at all.
I have the original firmware on k5. Should I upgrade to the newest firmware? Thank you
HD DA 20-40.
Which Pentax with CCD sensor would you recommend and one only lens - thanks
Still my favorite camera.
I'm still partial to the K3 because of my time with it, but the K5 is up there for sure ;)
Just a follow up, the video I posted last night about the pentax 50mm 1.2 had all the B-roll shot with the K-5, just in case you're curious.
snapppypic thanks man, I was waiting on it
I don't recommend getting a DA21 or a DA70 Limited primes.
Yikes, I can see exactly what will happen to me now. I'll be doomed to own the whole set haha. And what a handsome set it appears to be!
And don't forget the 43mm too! (yes, it's for FF, but on apsc still amazing!)
K~5 was my first pentax. loved it for years until i finally broke it, which wasnt easy!
Haha, I bet it wasn't. Great camera!
What camera are you using now?
They got 15 mm up there for 250
I’ve just preserved one!
I still use k5 today
