- So pumped to get my hands on (and feet in) a pair of the new Moc Toe boots from Nicks Handmade Boots! As a leathercrafter, I'm in constant amazement at the level of craftsmanship that I see in these U.S.A.-made boots. I have come to appreciate the people at Nicks Boots for their awesome customer service and total dedication to not only keeping this craft alive, but improving upon it. Really do want a pair of Nick's Moc Toes. I own a pair of White's Fulton Boots and of course multiple pairs of Red Wing Moc Toes. I've always loved a good Moc Toe boot though. I think that I go back and fourth between Moc Toe and Round Toe boots. That being said I think everyone should own at least one pair of Moc Toe boots.
I always think this when i see your videos. Tanner is such a fitting name for someone who works with leather.

Sweet looking moc-toe . I have a pair of Urban Loggers in British Tan and they are great . They look better as they age . As I'm typing this Nicks is building me a pair of Builder Pros in the 1964 Tan leather . Really looking forward to getting those.

I purchased this exact pair of boots after watching your video!
I wished I had those boots! I just bought a pair of Grant Stone Ottawa’s which are a nest boots that nicks do not sell yet. If they ever came out with a nst boot then I would get it without thinking twice. I love all boots that are either cap toes or certain moc toe’s, and all nst boots. I have been looking at those moc toed boots from Nick’s since I have seen them on sale from Nick’s. Those will be my grail boots.
I bit the bullet and went to a boot maker and had a custom pair made with this exact same chromexcel. And yeah it worked out more expensive than Nicks, and it took him months to finish (he actually made one boot from cheap leather just for a fitting and then he threw it away and made the final pair), but man, it's a completely different feeling to have boots made exactly for your feet, they feel about as comfortable as loafers. Don't know I can afford to do this very often, but it was definitely worth doing once.

Probably the best moc toes anywhere on the market. Definitely in terms of quality, but looks too in my opinion.

Moc toes aren’t a style offered or easily found here in South Africa by brands but I Love the look of this new style from Nicks! Great boot

Hi Tanner! Went into Tandy today and they had the plans brochure for your roll top bag. I was like hey! I "know" him! Lucky to live 10 min from them.
Have a pair of Whites that are 25 years old. Old 9" firefighting lug soles. Some say Whites came first and Nick worked there and struck out on his own. They were 350 all those years ago. Couldn't find any Obenaufs at the time and they dried out and cracked. They just squeak now. Been meaning to get them rebuilt. On their third pair of laces.

You’re correct on the origin story- I believe Nicks was started a little over 50 years ago. Both excellent boots! Sounds like you’ve got some classic boots there! (As an aside, I think Nicks will rebuild White’s boots too… 👍) Thanks for saying hello, my friend!

I was a firefighter for 34 years and went through about 6 or 7 pair of boots in my career. My suggestion is, buy the absolute best boot you can. The leather will form around your foot. And after about 30 to 60 days they will feel good. Don't go cheap on you feet. More to say but I'll leave it there.

Looking good as ever- I still wear them everyday to work (rotate between the Roberts and Moc-toe, and I wear the Urban Loggers on the weekends for the chores and hiking… they see more abuse but are holding up great). Cheers!

Probably not a video, but I am wearing them now and wear them everyday- still digging them! The Chromexcel has been really easy to break in and is good in the wet weather. I’ve added 1/8” neoprene insoles and replaced the laces, but they’ve been awesome!

I own a pair of urban loggers that I love. For me that moc toes look quite odd on the 55 last. Most likely this is because I'm use to seeing moc toes on blown rubber soles. Nevertheless, well crafted boots and I'm sure you'll get plenty of use out of them.

Yes! Made-to-order (MTO) Moc-toe, 55 last, brown Chromexcel, rolled edge on top. They’re so good!

Has anyone compared their Nicks sizes to their Arcteryx/New Balance sizes? Always ordered half the size down?
Nick's has a printable size guide that you can step on to measure - When I ordered my Roberts thats what I did and wound up in my same shoe size but an E width. They fit like a dream out of the box and the 55 last hits my high arches just right. Remember to wear the socks you'll wear with the boots when measuring!

I have a set of whites that still fit me from 2003... I fought fire in them for a two week fire and several years just hauling wood and hiking... I’m looking into nicks for urban logger style in near future... whites is now owned by abc company and is turning me away from them because of that
My wife has some 20 year old White’s as well from fire fighting- they’re awesome! I’ve been extremely happy with my Urban Loggers. Probably my favorite ones, especially for outside chores. I like the added stiffness the lugged sole gives to the same chassis. Cheers!!

Styles are gender neutral, just order your size. They have a printable sizing ruler and chart.

Why did they send you boots for free? just to review them on your channel?
They did- I have worked with them for a few years, helping them develop products to make use of their scrap leather- wallets, valet trays, etc., and have had the privilege of getting to know some of the employees over the years. That relationship (and to get some exposure for this new model) was probably why they decided to send some boots.
