The much awaited Nicks Urban Logger Video. Friends, I am so excited to share this one with you. I’ve done something good here. Check the full video for the build quality/construction, sizing, customization options, and be sure you don’t miss the little adventure we take these things on. #nicksboots #UrbanLogger #LoggerBoot Хобби
Amazing video! That's the first pair of Buck Brown Double Stuffed in the wild. Congrats! Your Nicks Factory Tour video is crushing it! Great job!
Super proud to be rocking this new leather. It gets compliments daily! What a great boot you guys have here! Love working with you all.
@@GentlemansJourney It's amazing leather for sure!
Those boots look crazy-great, that's for sure!! (Anyone out there who's reading this and thinking of buying a pair, you'll need to go to the "collections" tab to make a customized pair. If you just go to ULogger customization tab, the leather doesn't show up. I wrote an email inquiry and was told the option wasn't available. Being undaunted, or stupidly inspired, I called this morning and Lou helped me find the Collections workaround.) (Not that I've bitten the bullet on the purchase yet, but that's a different story...)
@@williamlychack3976 Cheers for watching and thanks for that tip for others. Not telling you how to spend your money but do it man!!! haha, at any rate I'm loving mine!
@@GentlemansJourney nice looking boots! Also great video keep it up! I’m thinking of getting a pair soon and this video has a lot to do with that thought.
Thankyou for the review!! Great video. I just ordered a pair and I’m super excited!! Looking forward to your 1 year update and all your other videos!
That’s great man! What color leather did you go with?🥾🥾
@@GentlemansJourney I went with the 1967 smooth tan leather. Not as much of a deep rich color as yours but I expect they will develop a very nice patina over the years.
@@anthonyhermes3593 Very good!! Can't wait for you to get them.
Thanks for sharing !!!!! Excellent video !!!!!
Means a lot, thanks. More good stuff coming. 🥾🥾
Oh man, those are great! I ordered a pair of the UL's in 8", also the 55 last, logger heel, and brown waxed flesh. That buck brown color of yours is awesome. You are going to have to compare these to your Frank's boot as well. Enjoy and wear them in good health!
Appreciate that blessing! As stated in the video, I really wanted that waxed flesh. Great boot mate. I'll be looking into a comparison video. At this point I gotta say, the two companies are champions and a Gentleman is being a good steward spending their money at either company.
Great job and good video 👍🏾👍🏾
Looking forward to seeing more on how break in 👍🏾👍🏾
Really kind words mate! Appreciate you watching and taking time to comment. The break in is going well, I wear them approx 8 hours a day at work, lots of standing, and then slip on the Rossi Boots as the work day ends. Cheers
. The Australian Chelsea..correct!site is still open on my phone
Beautiful boots.
Thanks man!! Appreciate you watching.
It appears youtube has shown me a great channel, looking forward to watching more of your content!
Love it!! Thanks for watching and dropping this comment
Love my urban drifters (lower heel version of what you have). My only issue after about five hikes is the relatively shallow heel cup doesn't hold the back of the foot as firmly as I like when wearing thick socks. I need to use the top eyelets to steady foot enough for climbing over rocks and such. I think that situation will improve as the foot sinks into the insole more deeply.
You feel it’s a size issue or something else. That’s a great boot. Cheers for watching mate! 🥾🥾
They also have a moderate heel, which is more traditional. The logger heels are awesome for working on high angles like wild land firefighters and sawyers often do.
Love how customizable they are!! Appreciate ya watching the video and hope you come along for the journey. Thanks for the comment.
@@GentlemansJourney I'm pretty sure the Urban Logger is the same boot as the Robert with a different sole. The UL has V-100 and the Robert has V-Bar.
I got a moderate heel on my Robert. Low dogger is the way to go in my opinion. That buck down is something special, hope you were able to get it entered into the thunderdome since today was the last day.
I didn't get it entered. I live a crazy life so couldn't get that sorted out in time. I gotta get a pair of Roberts at some point. Thank you for watching the video! Cheers KP.co.
I've owned my Nicks Urban Logger for roughly 1.5 years. Used Nicks try on custom fit. Try on boots fit so well I didn't want to send them back. At the time it took 6 months for my boot build. I went with the waxed flesh 8 inch honey lug sole and added the loop. I could not be more impressed, they looked incredible. They fit even better. I did Nicks recommended break-in. For me, the break-in was easy enough. After spending a year and half working hunting and hiking in this boot, I can't believe how well they fit my feet. The insole has a perfect impression that my foot fits into. I used my government stimulus money to purchase my boots. Can't tell you how happy I am that the money stayed in America. If we have to pay back $3124532990364755 in national debt as of 11/11/2022 at least my portion went to stimulate the US economy, not plastic crap from China. By the way that number works out to $93732 for every person in America. This is a real boot, built by real Americans.
Love this comment so much, gotta wonder where the other 🤑💰💵… at any rate, God bless America and good on you for supporting the workers over at Nicks. Solid review of these awesome boots mate and hope you stick around for my other videos! 🥾🥾
Amazing! Thank you so much for this comment.
Ordered a pair of builder pros in 1964 smooth out chocolate, still eagerly awaiting their arrival.
How exciting mate, congrats! Thanks for watching 🥾🥾
Awesome video awesome boot. That leather looks amazing. I really liked your factory tour video, I subscribed to nicks channel after that. I’ve been looking at the falcon and the officer boots.
Thanks for sticking around our channel! appreciate that. I am stoked to see what you end up getting. Once you do, send a pic over through instagram or Facebook at @gentlemansjourney
Great review. My first pair of UL are about to start production soon. Ordering is a slow burn with standard wait times.
Congrats!! What leather did you end up going with?
I have a pair of steel toe Builder Pros I recently got from them. Amazing boots. I'm loving them and can't wait to order a second pair. Looking to do something in a wedge work boot style.
Thanks for watching Mark, I really think the builder pros is a perfect boot. The wedge options are great and very comfortable. Thanks for watching and I'd love to get a pic of what you end up getting. You can find us on insta or Facebook at Gentleman's Journey.
Great video! I just ordered the falcons in brown CXL. I can’t wait to receive them.
Falcons are a great option!!! I still gotta get CXL in my collection, how have I not yet?? What outsole did you go with? I gotta get some V-bar in my life too.
Mine will come with the V-bar 700. This is my first major pair of boots. I’ve IRs, but nothing this serious. This will also be my first CXL boot. I hope it was the right choice.
@@bobjames3334 Sounds like exactly the right choice!
Nice video and very insightful. Awesome boots.I have yet to pull the trigger on a pair of Nick's...I've worn many high-quality Red Wings,Chippewa, Hanwag, and Danners over the past 20 years...These boot styles take years and years of use to really break in and "soften up". Im definitely going to take another look at Nick's after watching this video!
Appreciate you watching and taking time to comment! 🥾🥾
They are totally worth it. I got my first pair and I have a hard time wearing anything else. They really cup your feet perfectly. Make sure you use their sizing, but even something as big and beefy as the builder pro makes a great hiking boot because of how well it fits.
Oohhhh.delivered ...just left comment on tour of the shop video. Enjoy. I'm gona what now. Have a good one
Appreciate ya watching the channel! What’s your go to boot man?
I'd love to see you compare the new Nick's chelsea boots with your Redbacks!
I see that new line, I'll be getting my hands on some at some point!! They look tough. Cheers and thanks for watching.
Awesome video!!
Heck yes! Thanks for watching mate! 🥾🥾👍
I have urban loggers in 1964 brown with honey vibram lug soles. like them a lot. i always struggle with committing to use any of them though because they are so nice. hard to want to dirty them up.
I hear ya there, I think cutting mine on some barbed wire straight away helped me commit to using them however afterwards. I love that 1964 leather. I have the honey vibram on my Franks boots and love that outsole. Cheers and thanks for the support.
thats a good looking boot
Still my favorite leather!!
NICKS ❤️
Thanks for watching Arlexis, we love NICKS too!!
Thank you for sharing! How was the break in for your? I'm looking at a very similar build, that double stuffed buck is just beautiful! Great boots, congrats!
Yeah this color is amazing, I would say it is a long break in process but not extremely painful. Hope that helps... Thanks for watching.
So on sep 27th I placed my Nick's order for black cxl falcon boots. Originally the lead times were 18-24 weeks. Well now their lead times are 18-35 weeks and currently their black cxl leather is on material delay. Oh man, something tells me I wont get my boots till summer of 2023. They're getting very popular now so just want to give you guys a heads up. Great video bro!
Yikes, the suspense is the worst. Appreciate the comment and excited for ya to get them.🥾🥾
I waited 30+ weeks last year as well. I think it’s just the new norm for them.
I ordered my Nick's May 6th, 2022, I received them November 7th. But, mine were fully custom, MTO. They have their other options, like the Quick Ship where you'll get you boots much faster, you're just limited to their standard models and sizes.
Oh man, these look so good! I just ordered some custom Nicks in an Urban Drifter configuration, but you MAY have talked me into switching to the 55 last for that added arch support. I have a pretty high arch anyways.
I've been in them for a while now and really love the arch. I bet you'll end up seeing the Drifter or some configuration of a Nicks lower arch on the channel at some point just because I gotta have some comparison stuff going on. I can't say you can go wrong either way.! At any rate, what color leather did you go with? Vibram mini lug? V Bar?
@@GentlemansJourney so I got the new limited Chromexcel oxblood leather with the v100 lug sole. So it’ll be essentially an oxblood urban drifter.
@@sackman1886 Common!! that's legit.

Love your videos! Do these boots have the celastic/composit toe or the standard toe? What are the benifits of both toes? I know I don't want a steel toe, but im having trouble choosing between the other two. Thanks!
I have the standard toe. Some employers will ask for one or the other and it comes down to preference. Nicks notes that they guarantee the boot but not the toe as they do not produce the security toe piece themselves. Thanks for watching and hope to catch ya in the next video.
I dig em! What are those pants that show em off so good?
Levis 511. Appreciate ya watching!! 🥾🥾
I really want this in Bison leather...And with a goretex liner since my feet are jacked up from overseas...
That could be a great. boot man. What branch were you in?

I loved the video. I was excited to see it! I have the Urban Logger in the waxed flesh. I Love it! Im still breaking it in, which is not bad at all. By the way what kind of hiking pants were you wearing, I like those
First off, great boot mate. I love that waxed flesh. I am not finding the break in process to be bad at all either. Not a machismo thing but I typically don't complain about the break in process of boots, maybe I have a unnatural pain tolerance?? At any rate, I love the boots. I was wearing a pair of 5.11. I just did a Livsn pant video and love those as well. I certainly don't have a "go to" pant at this point. I honestly get a kick out of Carhartt pants but they don't always have a fashion look to them. I think Livsn and 5.11 put out some good gear. I also like my Levi pants in green and brown. Cheers bro as we press on to become better behaved gentleman and better dressed!
@@GentlemansJourney awesome.. thank you. I am getting some livsn pants due to your video. And God Bless snd remember to give those Nick’s some love!!
Great video.Amazing boots.Extremely informative and useful content.
I would like to ask about the thickness and durability of the leather. What I see W&C leathers are a kind of fine, luxury leathers. Thanks!
Got the one year review coming up soon. I'll be sure to touch on that stuff. The leather in short is super tough stuff. I knew it would be tough but thought it was a bit dressy for me, wrong. It's taking everything I give it like a champ. That said, I am not working in them either.

Hey appreciate that! A video is coming out today. Thanks for watching 🥾🥾
I’ve been looking at Nicks boots for a long time now. Love everything about them. My only concern is that I’m not sure how my foot will do with a higher arch boot like these. I’ve never worn a boot with a logger heel. Only thing that concerns me with pulling the trigger on them. Wish I lived closer so I could actually try a pair on
Maybe opt for their trial boot, they send it out to you to try on. Also, I'd say go for it mate! I love the high arch. If it's just the heel your wanting to test, run into a boot store and try a high heel boot, say a western boot or a logging boot from another company. I love the heck out of mine. Lastly, thanks for watching the video!
You can get a boot with the HNW last, which its contoured like a logger heel.
( Block heel, but shaped like a logger)its on the custom options,i think its called a dogger heel.
Just received my builder pro with this heel and they look great, better than with a block.
I enjoy your videos thank you! Now that you put these boots through their Paces Which Pair of boots are more comfortable the urban loggers or smoke jumpers?
Smoke jumpers are more comfortable out the gate, I use the urban loggers more. Now they are about the same!
@Gentleman's Journey Thanks! I just received my urban loggers this week took over 8 months . Natural vegetan double stuffed, They are definitely gonna take a minute to break in compared to my 350 cruisers in waxed flesh. I live in Spokane and I get compliments on them all the time. I am hooked! Next Pair bounty hunters...thanks!
I would definitely buy a pair if I was still working in the trades but now that I’m not, it would be difficult to justify the need and the cost. I will however consider the Thursday logger style offering. Great video and do enjoy those very fine boots!
Appreciate ya watching man!! 🥾🥾
Strangely enough it is not possible to get without the pull-loop, at least not in the weg-tan leather option. I discussed this at length with Nicks via email, but had to give up with …”I can cut it off myself”. Anyway - fantastic boots!
That is strange, thanks for chiming in! Have a blessed New Year! ✨💫🥾🥾
I have a pair of Nick's Robert boots, and I personally would have a really hard time getting them on without the pull loop, but I also have a pretty wide foot. Once it's in I'm good, but getting it there is a struggle!
Did you get the celastic toe by chance?
I just ordered a pair of Roberts, and got it with a Celastic toe. I'm wondering if I should keep the celastic toe, or tell them not to install one.
As far as I know I did not. Toe is strong but not ridged
You can tell it’s an Urban Logger because of the way that it is
Cheers for watching
I’ve worn Whites starting in 1981. I have a pair of packers with a pretty high heel. You have to be careful in the winter. As you take a step and plant the heel first, be sure not to slip on ice. Other than that obvious problem, the arch support really helps your back and posture. I’m 61 now and love my boots. I may have to try out a set of Nicks next.
Great review Friend, Yeah I love Nicks and Whites! Good on you brother and thanks for watching.
Please do an update. And would be awesome to see these head to head with the Drews 8 inch logger brown smooth...
Now we're talking!!! Ill be posting that one year review this fall! Thanks for the interest and I'll have to get my hands on some Drews!!
Hey how was the size 11? Was it a good fit like did it hug your foot like not too big or too tight? I wear a size 11 in red wing iron ranger do you think a size 11 in urban loggers would be a good fit?
11 was the go for me, it really fits nice! I did put a very slim footbed in there because the insole is not one piece and gave me a huge blister. I'll mention that to Nicks but that was my only complaint in that department. If you need a thick winter sock and insole, maybe get 11.5. Cheers for watching. Catch ya on the next video
If you have a second, how did you choose between Double Stuffed Buck Brown and the Waxed Flesh? Like you, I was convinced I'd just get the Waxed Flesh, but now I love the look of your boots. (I only get one pair of these in this life, and I can't go to Spokane to see the real thing, so any insights would be appreciated.) Thanks a ton.
Man that's a bit of pressure. Not sure if you have seen my Franks Boots video but I love this leather even more than the leather on those boots. That said, this is the best leather I've owned. Gosh man, I gotta say now that I am thinking about it. I really don't think I've had better leather. it's such a hard thing cause I've been blessed to tour so many boot shops and fell in love with many types of leather. I really do like the Waxed Flesh and think it is perfect for this boot. I worry at this point if I don't stop typing I'll only confuse you more and then start wondering what leather I want next... You will not regret Double Stuffed Buck Brow. I put pictures on my Instagram and Facebook if you want to see more pics of them.
You’re awesome! Thanks! Love the spirit of your work. Sending gratitude and blessings!
@@williamlychack3976 I receive that!!

That's a sick boot man, I am digging mine like none other. Not sure what your IG handle is but I'd love to see some pics of your boots. Are they still your daily runner or have you moved on?
. A natural jacket would probably be cool. No killer boots yet . A . Belts& holsters is what I have so far media I'm on ..so can't see on IG.I like the look it takes on after years Natural is a good way to go.This is the only midia
Old tablet mixes words up.?.dk.?.synthetics can do stuff but my experience is nature knows best..
These boots look awesome, and I'm tempted to buy, but.... Those heels are about 2.25 inches, I assume... I think 1.25 - 1.5 is perfect.
Check out the Urban Drifter. Might be the way to go. I'll be doing the one year review on this boot soon. I'm working on it now and that is certainly a consideration with this boo. Thank you for watching.

How close was the size from your Red wings to your Nick's boots?
same size
Would you say that your iron rangers are a little wider? I have a pair in 7EE and they broke I’m now there too loose. I have a pair of nicks urban loggers ordered at the same size but I’m wondering if EE is too wide.
I also seen when you fitted at nicks you were a 11 E, how come you went too a 11d?
Thanks for reaching out on Insta. Appreciate having you around on the channel!! Be sure to send me some pictures when you finally get your Nicks!
How tight should your heel be in the boot cup?
I read somewhere that i should be able to walk with the boots unlaced ,and have no movement,up and down ,of the heel.
Is this how you fit your boots?
I just got my builder pro, they fit snug at the ball of foot but loose at the heel.
I am worried about getting something narrower.
My boots are a 10 B HNW last.
I’d say they should be snug but not necessarily stuck to your foot with it unlaced. I don’t have any that would do that. Cheers and hope you get it sorted! 🥾🥾

@GentlemansJourney how are those lugs walking around? They look bulky sitting there but on foot they don't look so large. Odd question but for everyday use how are they?
@@KingPhilipF Great question. This stuff will come out in the one year review as well. However, they are certainly not an every day boot. These are largely based on a work boot meant to go into the woods and do work. The Urban side does not shine through near as much as the Logger side. If you need an every day boot maybe do the Americana or the Urban Drifter? These are a bit much for running around. Very heavy and bulky for sure. I love them but not an everyday boot.
Why did Nicks stop using the fit sheet?
I wasn’t aware.
@@GentlemansJourney I wasn’t either. I read it in the comment section somewhere and checked their site and didn’t see the option anymore.

I believe Nicks sized you at a 11E in previous video. Why did you go with the D width?
Curious about that too🤔
Now that's a savvy viewer!! I was originally sized at a 11E and when Grant checked the size when I went in this past summer he put me in 11D. Honestly, I've been in these things for a bit now and they fit perfect. I'm super happy with the fit! Thanks for watching the video Hammer and I appreciate the support. Catch ya in the next one.

How big of a difference was the D to an E? My D iron rangers are really snug and my EE is pretty loose
@@F.R.G317 It was over a year apart so I'm not sure. Im super stoked about the size and fit on these ones!
I've had my Nick's Urban Loggers for ~ 18 months... wore them on/off/on during the cold weather days. They are the rough out leather and still look nearly new. My only real complaint is one of the boots squeaks like crazy every step I take!! People in the office can hear me down the hall coming and my wife makes fun of my custom $550 dollar boots that I waited a long time to get. Kinda makes me not wear them much at all anymore... very sad!! Nick's says it's "normal" and just wear them... my complaint is if it's normal, whey is it only 1 of my boots that squeaks? I think next go around for a custom boot I'm going to try another maker.
Some of the Facebook groups talk about the squeaking from some of the PNW companies. I think putting some powder in them helps. Even some rebuilds have had mixed reviews. At any rate, this is something I'll bring up in future discussions with these companies when I'm with them. Cheers Eric
@@GentlemansJourney perhaps it's just the luck-of-the-draw for squeaking or not. I've tried some powder and it hasn't really done anything, but for some it may. They are cool looking boots and a quality build, just spend most of their time in my closet floor given the noise they make. Really makes me hesitate in buying another pair of custom boots that I don't get to try on first.
@@ericmoss8344 Sad day man. I understand your hesitation.
Constructive criticism! Optimization data you understand! Those boots are too high for your gate! Hooker in the wrong heals effect! As a modifier of my own boots I have experienced this personally. Great video as usual though thanks man :)
Thanks for watching 🥾🥾
I'm going to be "that guy". I would love to see what @Frank's Boots could build that looks better then Nick's? I do really like the looks of Nick's the best out of the PNW boots, but my gut just keeps at me to go with Frank's.
Certainly can't go wrong either direction! Appreciate you taking time out of your day to watch my video!! Cheers Zephyr.
. Do youGut is right most always
They’re probably equal quality but you might get your order a little faster from Franks. Nicks customer service has been good in my experience but Franks has been really excellent as well. I’ve emailed them with questions and they’ve actually called me back to talk about it. Again though you can’t go wrong with either.
Franks Wilshire is very similar. The photos are lame they need a professional photographer there at Franks Boots. But much of what Nicks currently offers is inspired in some way from Frank.
It's not that I don't have confidence that they would send me the right size, it's the fact I can't compare different arches, widths, heels, or whatever. That's the part that bugs me. Totally sucks. No fault of anyone, but it really does suck.
I imagine they can send you more than one loaner test boot, same size but different arch profiles?? couldn't hurt to ask. I certainly understand your pain! I am very blessed to have been into these stores in person. Best of luck!
