      @@jamqx3243 I ran 800m track and 3-5k cross country and made Northern English Championship in both…and failed hard in each event which was to make the GB National Final. 800m track at Gateshead, we’re Bolt et al have raced, was worse cos came top 50mout of 150 after getting ‘spiked’ at the start, had to put my shoe back on, had a pretty bad tear down the back of my ankle, and was last, so made up over 100 places. If I didn’t get spiked from behind, top 20 would have been easily in reach, maybe qualifying for the Nationals. I was 14 now 44 so as I type, I’m remembering that day. 800m track was a 4hr ish coach trip, and it was my birthday, my dad had been to Japan and got me a Sega Game Gear. Not out in the U.K.,or US, it was far better than the Nintendo as it was colour so I played it, letting my mates play on the coach (bus), but didn’t warm up properly. Wasted getting that far and a full day and 8 hour round trip. Sometimes a gift can be a curse!

    Yeah...we are all talking about how courageous he is, but to me the big question is, what caused a gifted and fit athlete as Cooper to finish like a depleted marathoner in a 10k race? I don't think this happened to him before. If I was the coach, I would do a full medical workup on him.

    • @nomaderic
      @nomaderic 2 года назад +7

      It could be a number of things ranging from not fueling properly, not sleeping properly the night before, etc etc all kinds of things can and will affect your run
      Many runners have had this happen to them, im nowhere near an elite runner but I've hit the wall twice and it was the exact same as this except I wasn't getting back up, my legs were DONE. My guess is he is 100 percent ok medically. Sure it wouldn't hurt to run tests and make sure but I'd put my money on him being completely fine. Things like this happen

      @@nomaderic exactly, plenty of people DNF races, it’s very difficult to pinpoint exactly why the legs aren’t there a certain day. But this being his last race he wanted to finish it.

I have no idea what his other accomplishments are since I don’t follow this sport but another comment says he’s a champion in another event and I believe it. This is what a successful person looks like, full of grit and determination and strength.

    when this happens its due to dangerous conditions in the body, events should get the athletes immediate medical attention and fans should quit glorifying it. People get permanently injured or even die.

    I would like it to be known that this title is misleading. Teare did not crawl to the finish. He got up and hobbled through that line on two feet. That man put every last ounce of willpower into being on his feet to cross the line instead of crawl through it.
    (I’m not advocating for a change of title I just wanted to contribute and show appreciation for the strength of Cooper Teare 😊)

    Good for him to keep pushing and staying in the fight. But I’m concerned for his health though…. Maybe he just over exerted himself, was dehydrated, didn’t eat enough, etc etc etc but I’d still get some bloodwork done just to be sure. That’s a level of exhaustion that could hint at something being off.
