I'm a super fan of the fact that at the end of your videos you keep breaking down what the price points are and I think that's super cool and no other RUclipsr/builder is doing that.
Your going to be filling that water tank quite often with that splashing going on...trust me I know ... I have a huge fountain in my back yard and we had to adjust with small rocks to lower the water flow....and also how will you get to the pump easily? you will have to disassemble the rocks and cover every time? can you do a follow up video on maintaining of this nice water feature?
I saw that immediately like a sore thumb! 🤣 And the stone top edging wasn't centered so one end has the butt and the other is aligned. But that's the designer in me crying 😭
cool build. Adding a splash mat (used for oil) under the rocks where the water falls and repositioned rocks will help cut down on the splash. Really nice look
My husband and I built this spillway water feature! Ours was 8’ tall and 5’ wide. We built it in the front of our house against the bump out for our fireplace, which dictated the size. I redesigned the actual back structure wall to save money on the pressure treated wood. We also replaced the cedar tongue & grove boards with flat top cedar fence pickets. Much less expensive. We also trimmed our fountain with left over cedar trim in place of metal angle iron, which was another cost saver. And using this method we had almost zero waste of the cedar boards. All these cost saving measures allowed us to purchase a more wider spillway with LIGHTS. After running the water feature for about a week we abandon the rocks and plastic bins lid due to splash out. Instead attached wire mesh to the top of the bin using zip ties. It works way better and allows for better access to install water clarifier. This water feature is completely beautiful! OUR TOTAL COST $425!!
I'm impressed with how well of a teacher you are, you have patience, great communication and you're very kind. I wish every woman and girl had this type of a gentle teacher.
Personally, if I’m to spend that much, I would certainly get a much wider fountain piece… you have a grand piece with the cedar but this tiny tiny stream. Almost makes it look a bit silly. Perhaps that’s just my personal taste but yeah. I’d defiantly add (probably fake) vines and foliage too
@@juanpuello4546 I would never spend this much on what he made. I’d honestly get a big slab of tree cut, clean it, epoxy the gaps and throw some legs on it for a beautiful table replacement. Whenever I get around to doing that, I’ll be sure to start a channel. I’m just expressing my personal preference. If you’re spending that much you should definitely go for the best of the best. I think a larger fall would look much better. So quick to be upset on someone else’s behalf 🥴
Splashes a lot, so your going to have to fill it often. Also not sure how your going to clean out the pump and tank area since you glued down the stones…
All he has to do is put a ball valve on the return from the pump so he can adjust the flow. Another nice touch would be to put an auto top off float. That way as water evaporates it automatically fills the reservoir with new water.
Just wish I knew where you got your wide strapped and tight shouldered tank tops from because the ones I’ve always gotten from Walmart have always felt like junk . Great video . Cool price list . Thanks .
Build looks great m'man! Glad Irina got in on some of the build action, she already understands the first rule of being a builder - blame the supplies/tools, not the skill set hahah! While I'm a huge fan of the angle iron, I think I may have opted for attaching them to the vertical sections (to hide seems), then for the horizontal section surrounding the water area, I would have put a mitered cedar frame. Totally personal preference though, I think either way would look solid!
the spilling of water on the long run makes the reservoir to run out of water, maybe the water fall or elevation is making this water-stone impact enough to create the spilling.
Are you looking for the same size? Lots of Options but we use the Aquascape spillway or waterfall or we use a powerfully. Right falls for the right build!
@Rockscapes are they the ones that sell the brass style ones if so they didn't have any either I found ones like these but they are $100 each and that seems nuts for a plastic cup
@@redbeard-kz7vo lol water features are expensive one way or another. If you wanted true diy you can find a nice looking plastic/ abs/ stainless/ fiberglass bowl, cut a notch in it, and plumb a bulkhead in the bottom with your pipe going into it, set that into the wall and you are good! I did similar as a waterbowl into a stream for my pup. If you can't visualize it's on our channel
With a big feature like that, i would have gone with three or four spouts at the top that stepped down on an angle, or gone with a wider spout to make the waterfall more the feature. As it is, it is pretty, however the ceadar is more the focal point than the water. You did an awesome job, just my opinion on how i would have changed it up.
a small critique I think would be on those inside corners with that angle iron would be to have extended the outside come out and meet at a 45 with the other piece instead of cutting each one off straight and having that square of no iron on the corner.
