The loss of physical media is a terrible feeling. As far as games, we may have 1 more generation of physical. It's quickly becoming a relic of the past. Physical games being gone will be the last gasp of my youth. Sad times. Great video.
It’s so damn depressing man. I know most people could care less but collectors like us love having the actual thing in our hands and owning it. Idk just a weird time to be a collector now a days.
@@RetroReminiscence sadly, Switch will probably be the last system I buy physical games for. Half the games are download required anyway. It's the worst. Going digital only will definitely make me 2nd guess moving to the next generation. As it stands, I have more than enough games to last my lifetime. Maybe next gen gaming is leaving this old fart behind, but there's plenty of games to still collect without a ps6.
Last night I bought the new Blink 182 CD, first CD I've bought "new" in probably a decade. I bought the disc PS5, I'm not ready to let go! Most of my switch games are physical too. And of course all my retro stuff. The only game I've consistently downloaded for years has been COD.
Dude I bought it too! 9 am at Barnes and Noble! Turpentine is my jam!
@@NESADDICT I'm savoring songs 11-17 for the drive into work tomorrow. Only listened to 1-10 before I got home haha. 🤘🤝🥳
@@DerekLed amazing! Enjoy!!! Lots of good stuff left!
@@NESADDICT Awesome 👍 Stay cool Jay
Yea see just imagine that feeling you just had going to get that cd, and then never being able to experience it again. Idk just sucks to think about. Its definitely a shift in the wrong direction imo.
That freaking donkey Kong music is amazing.
Thanks man 💜
As a physical media collector myself it is sad to see physical media go away. We are defiantly living in a more and more digital life. That is why I still buy digital video games because there is nothing like owning a physical copy of a video game. Plus if you pay the same price for physical vs digital on video games. Why not get the physical copy of the game instead of the digital copy in my option. Great video and keep up the great content 🔥🔥🔥🔥.
Yea that’s true, you make some good points man. It just came outta left field I felt like. Idk I’m just a purest at heart so it was really disappointing to hear the news.
Im with you, it's definitely depressing to know that physical media is slowly dying. It's something we've all been seeing happen over the past fee years. I actually have promo CD from Sanctuary Records that I got back in 2001. It was given out with the purchase of the Megadeth album, The World Needs A Hero. On the CD, was an interview with Dave Mustaine, and he was asked what he thought the future of the music industry would be, and he answered "People with cellular phones ". How insane was it that he predicted that over 20 years ago!!?? It's gonna be a sad day when all physical media is completely unavailable for purchase. If you think about it, it completely lends credibility to what Claus Shwab said. "You will own nothing, and you will be happy".
Yea you aren’t wrong bro! I wish it was different but it’s a harsh reality I gotta just accept. I can always collect the older media but moving forward it might be impossible. Which really sucks to think about. That’s why the 80s and 90s will always be my favorite era. Everything just felt more wholesome, and artists and companies just cared about what they put out. Now a days everything is a dime a dozen. Just sucks to see. I appreciate you watching Joel and I appreciate you leaving a comment. You are a king bro
I went to Best Buy this past Friday and just looked around and thought what happened, man it used to be the place to go for videogames and pc games, and movies. You walk in now and it feels empty.
Duuuuuuude! I just went their today to pick up super Mario wonder and it felt so freaking empty. I remember the early 2000s you couldn’t even walk in the isle without being elbow to elbow with other people looking at games and movies. It’s just in such a sad state now. It’s so depressing 😞
Went in one today myself. Nothing but TV boxes, phones and blenders. Sad.
Physical media is on its way out and its getting kind of depressing. I do emulation if I can't afford the game and what not but when it comes to new games, I love to buy the physical copies. I can beat it then and if I loved it, keep it but if it was just okay, I can resell it then and put it towards another game. Best Buy is starting and I hear Walmart is next and then probably everywhere. Its funny you show The Thing too because I was planning on watching that tonight. lol
I hate seeing everything going digital. Started back buying dvds at yard sales and fleamarkets.
Exactly my friend. It’s very unfortunate. I hate to think I will never get to feel that experience of walking into a store and walking out with a physical game in my hands 😞 it sucks
Next thing you know, after they stop selling physical games, they'll quit selling digital games, only offering streaming options. I am just kidding, I hope I am just kidding...
Yep that’s the plan in the long run. Just buying the “license” to play the game. Then they eventually pull the rug out from under us.
Sadly you might be right….
The download codes for games is exactly what they are going to do next but no one is going to buy them. Then they will report video game sales have been way down and will use that as an excuse to stop selling games completely. Newer generation of kids do not care about physical as much as we do. They didn't grow up around it, they don't have the nostalgia for it. Some people probably see having to take a game off the shelf and putting the game in the system as an inconvenience. Newer technology is great and all but it's also made us lazy. Alot of people would rather just stream music/movies and download games now.
See that’s how I feel also. It’s just a different time and generation. Being from our time it’s super important to us. But people now a days wanna sit back and click a button and download it. It’s really a sad sad time to be a collector of physical media. I appreciate your comment and for watching the video buddy. I know it’s different type of video, but I think it was a relevant topic.
Sadly, games will certainly be next as its just a matter of time. Physical collecting as a whole will soon begain to phase out with only the most diehard of holdouts.
I often tell people to think of it like this:
Elvis memorabilia collectors. You don't see it for sale everywhere like it once was, and the only ones who still want it are diehards....
Yea I figured it was coming also, but just wasn’t ready for it so soon I guess. It’s a weird feeling honestly. But at least I know their will still be small companies pressing physical discs for all us old school diehard media fans. I appreciate you watching my video you guys.
@@RetroReminiscence You absolutely nailed the silver lining; those who appreciate physical media will find ways to keep it alive for those equally interested and invested in it!
