Instead of “now that we have a bike chain base, lets run an array curve with a proportionally edited circle constrained to X. Make sure you have subdiv active at 2/2. Run a tight extrude on Y at symmetry value. Add a normal hardening operator, assuming you aren’t flipped, shade autosmooth at 30 degrees, pop on a double regular profiled bevel mod, angle, and tag your array on x so it matches. Follow the array with low deform until you can proportion it back on negative x to create alignment. Continue the array and you’re done!” (Most tutorials).

what is the difference between subdivision surface, applying and selecting all, rightclick, subdivide?
Nevermind, I found it out

subdivision surface modifier smooths sharp edge with adding loops whereas right click subdivision only add loops between two edges.
