Hello , this is great , though a suggestion as a bike mechanic and wheel builder . It may be easier to make the hub first . Many hub makers have the hub dimensions on their website as do rim manufatures . So making a hub and rim first would give reference points to make a single spokeand then duplicate that for all the spokes . For referance add in the spoke drillings on the hub flanges will enable you to get the spokes all lined up evenly . If you also model the spoke holes in the rim too will add extra refence points for the spokes . Of note for others rear and front hubs have different flange offsets . The front hub is almost equal unless its a disc hub where as the rear hub has the driveside (right side) flange nearer the hub centre (all found on manufactours websites (or use a generic dimentions as found on DT Swiss Web site) Sheldon Brown also has a great stepby step wheel building page with lacing patterns (radial ,1 cross , 2 cross and 3 cross) Great work ! I'm going tobe doing this soon .
learned about a lot of nuances in blender and you managed to make it easy to understand Glad to have a vid specifically about the bicycle wheel and the spokes. I searched other videos and they didn't have commentary so I didn't know what was going on hahaha Keep it up
not sure if anyone gives a damn but if you are stoned like me atm then you can stream all of the new series on instaflixxer. Been binge watching with my girlfriend for the last few weeks :)
Great tutorial! Unfortunately stuck at the array part around the 10:00 mark, when rotating my empty the arrayed spokes don't appear, have tried a couple of times with new mesh but no luck, any advice? Thanks!
When applying all transformation, the median jumps to a different place because the wheel I am making is a part of a bigger product. I am unable to do the array modifier because of that. Please help, Thank you.
You might want to model the wheel independently in a scene file on its own, once completed. You can combine all the pieces together using a the CTRL+J combination after selecting all the parts. Then you can import the completed bicycle wheel into your main model.
I love how you're still going. You taught me a lot back in the day with the guy faux mask and the shoe back in like 2010
Thank you for still following up on my channel. I apologize for the lack of updates. I will release a new video this week.
this was incredibly helpful!! thank you so much for posting!
You are most welcome!

Did you freeze or "apply" the scale transformation ? Your cursor must also be set to the origin. Press Shift+C to do that.
When applying all transformation, the median jumps to a different place because the wheel I am making is a part of a bigger product. I am unable to do the array modifier because of that. Please help, Thank you.

One more thing, you need to press Shift + C to reset the cursor position to the origin location.
