Welcome to the first video in a series I plan on doing, looking back at the top 10 BEST rap albums of each year that I haven't yet covered on my channel. I may have started this CDTVProductions channel in 2016, but I didn't do my first Top 10 Best Albums of the Year list until 2017 so I'm gonna start from here and work my way back year by year!
Keep in mind, mixtapes are included in my list but EPs and compilation albums (such as Untitled Unmastered) are not. Everything here is purely based on my opinion and my own level of enjoyment with each project, so with that in mind enjoy the video! :)

Atrocity Exhibition deserves that #1 spot. That album is absolutely insane and incredible. Danny was in his bag when he made that album.
Can't believe its finally December 2386th of 2016, right on time for the new list, man.
I haven't listened to Atrocity Exhibition since 2017, but "Pneumonia" is a stone-cold banger. Believe it or not, I first listened to the album by borrowing the CD from a public library in rural Kentucky.

It's crazy how many albums ranging from really good to downright fantastic could've fit on here just as well.
RTJ3, Honor Killed the Samurai, Divine Feminine, Floss, Telefone, Lead Poison, FLYGOD, Bucket List Project, Healing Component, and my personal favorite that sadly got a somewhat mixed reception, Ab-Soul's Do What Thou Wilt.

So glad Aesop made the cut. He's up there with MF Doom, Gym Class Heroes, and Atmosphere as like one of the godfathers of 00's alt-rap. Been listening to him since like 03 and he's just so good. Great jazzy and rocky beats. Instantly recognizable tone and flow. Good lyricism. Awesome use of vocabulary
Wasn’t expecting Aesop Rock here, but I’m happy to see it. Not to mention, completely forgot about Denzel as well, kind of silly of me, because I also love Imperial, but hey, what can you do?
Honestly, I want to relisten to all of these albums now. I know how dope they are, and I’m so bored with a lot of modern music.

@antiarezzo7630 Bottomless pit was 2016, yea. Year of the snitch is 2018. I I wasn't a DG fan at because I started forming my music taste in 2019, but BP I sometimes thought it came out 2017
I'm glad Aesop Rock made the list, not a lot of people talk about him
Aesop Rock is my favorite rapper, ever. He connects with me and my taste in writing so well. I personally like Skelethon more, but The Impossible Kid is probably his modern opus
Your take on Lil Uzi Vert vs The World is spot on. That tape is nostalgic as hell.
It might not be a full hip hop album, but my pick for best album of 2016 is blonde by Frank Ocean. The amount of times I’ve cried to that album is unmatched.
Definitely one of those albums that just leaves an imprint on you for the rest of your life
2016 was an absolutely stacked year for music! All my favorite albums of the year are all-time favorites of mine and I’m glad you covered it even if I didn’t agree with most albums on the list.
My personal favorite albums of 2016 are as follows:
1. Atrocity Exhibition - Danny Brown
2. Splendor & Misery - clipping. (hardly anyone gives this album enough credit)
3. Imperial - Denzel Curry (bummed that you didn’t talk about Joey’s amazing feature on Zenith)
4. The Impossible Kid - Aesop Rock
5. Disguise the Limit - Nyck Caution (hidden gem of an album, but make sure you download the full version)
6. We Got It From Here - ATCQ
7. Floss - Injury Reserve
8. Run The Jewels 3 - RTJ
9. Bucket List Project - Saba
10. It Happened in Flatbush - The Underachievers (super under-appreciated duo)
You should honestly do retrospective revisits of the years you did make lists from, I'd love to see what, if anything, has changed in your music taste since those years
As someone who has been watching you since 2016 it's awesome to see how much you've changed and grown

Still holding out hope for him to continue this series. Top 10 albums are my favorite of his videos and actually how I got into hip-hop as a whole.

13 is a really underrated project tbf. Used to be my favorite EP ever and was dethroned by Vince staples- Prima Donna. But the bangers on 13 are incredible, might take the spot back since I get so hyped up when those songs come back to my playlist

Big respect for putting Atrocity exhibition at Number 1, its one of my favourite Hip Hop albums.
Wow surprised that We Got It From Here Thank You 4 Your Service didn't make the list. I'd also include Honor Killed The Samurai by Ka but he's not that well known so I understand.
Aesop Rock is a special interest of mine, to the point where I legit just assumed I was listening to my own Spotify when his part came up (was listening to video in the background)
I think Malibu Ken and Appleseed are good next steps into his discography. Garbology is a really important album to me, but idk if it's the best jumping in point for a new listener. Pumpkin Seeds has an amazing Lupe Fiasco feature
ETA actually none of those -- go with Spirit World Field Guide. In sound it's probably his most similar to TIK and it deals with similar themes. Pizza Alley might be my favourite song ever

as of now, the only other album i’ve heard from them is Midnight Marauders so i don’t think i’m able to FULLY appreciate We Got It From Here yet

COLORING BOOK AT 3 IS SUCH A W
Pretty good list, just wouldnt include travis, uzi, or future, Schoolboy Q, maybe thugger, jeffery is amazing, maybe top 10, but i feel like you are definitely missing out on some albums. Like for example We got it from here, thank you 4 your service by A tribe called quest is easily one of the best albums of the 2010s, and maybe even their best album (Its a hot take but the production is better if we are being honest. You have Floss by injury reserve, untitled unmastered by Kendrick Lamar, Bottomless pit by Death Grips, and RTJ3 by run the jewels. This is definitely a better list than most, especially since you put atrocity exhibition first, which i 100% agree with.
You should definitely listen to Floss by Injury Reserve. One of my favorite rap albums period

Bruh i swear when you listen to the Injury Reserve - FLOSS album, you would regret about making this list without it, it's one of the most fun, aggresive, satirical and catchy albums ever, i promise
He already is a fan of Injury Reserve. I think he put their S/T on his 2019 list

Honestly I need to listen to Atrocity Exhibition more, I listened to it once in like early 2022 and loved it, Ain't It Funny is still one of my favorite songs ever, Downward Spiral will just pop up in my head at the most random times, Really Doe slaps harder than I expected, but I need to give it another listen to really take it all in and fully give my thoughts on it... and to get used to Danny's voice more lol, it's tough at first
Aight yeah this motivated me to give it a few listens today, absolutely slaps for sure, absolutely hard to listen to unless I'm in the mood lmao
ULT is IMO Denzel's best song. Every time I listen to this song I get goosebumps. Walkin, Sirenz, Bloodshed, and a couple of more songs are fantastic but IMO ULT is THAT song for me.

black ben carson by jpegmafia should also be on here tbh. one of the best (if not the best) debut album for rappers, every song hits, the lyricism and beat selection is amazing, the production is classic peggy but definitely a sign of the times as it hits and reminds you of the beautiful times of 2016. his songs, drake era, i just killed a cop..., motor moth, i smell crack, cuck, 27 club and even the title track are some of jpegmafia's best songs ever and i definitely think more people should check it out. it's my number 2 for my 2016 rap albums, atrocity exhibition obviously being number one
I am a huge Peggy fan but that album really benefitted from the remaster. It cut dogshit tracks like Jerrys out and the mix is much better throughout. Also some of the songs like Try Me haven't aged the best lyrically. Its uhh... A bit odd at times. Still a super unique album and I've heard nothing like it since
Im a big Jpeg fan, but I wasn't big on BBC. It has some banger, but overall, it wasn't that great from what I remember. His albums after tho are all easily AOTY contenders

When I was ten I went to gorillaz and Danny was touring with them right after he dropped atrocity exhibition, that album turned me on to rap
Ab- Soul “Do what thou wilt” I was hoping that was #1 😢 but it wasn’t on the list at all
