+It's Black Friday hey I have a problem maybe u can help me with...I'm goth but I'm like don't know how to show it and stuff if you know what I mean...and I'm kinda shy...what do u think I could do to get me over that black friday.???
+Matthew Williams eeh don't be shy. Slap that white and black (or whatever you like) on your face and hold your chin high ^^ Don't care about shitn others say, if they say something, ignore. Or just thank them for taking care of how you look. and then ignore. I like to wink at assholes like that. Be proud of who you are and how you feel
+Matthew Williams just do it!! or, as I did, gradually incorporate goth clothing into your wardrobe as I did... no one was really surprised when i went full-out goth/steampunk.
Even less demanding dress codes. Like, high school and college dress codes. I mean, yeah, they're more allowing than an office setting, but start small, yeah? It's gotta be possible to be goth and professional or goth and erudite at the same time.
I like to carry a mini spray bottle filled with my own concoction of peppermint and distilled water. Just a few spritzes and I feel refreshed... sort of like an instant air-conditioner. ^_~
rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle can be good too. Obviously not too much and only in places where the skin isn't too sensitive(so don't spray it in your face or under your arms if you just shaved your armpits, that might hurt). It kills bacteria and cools a lot, drawback is that it can severely dry out the skin, so use cautiously.
When all else fails, white can look gothy with the right accessories. I have to be very careful because I used to be on a medication that had a side effect of making me ill if I got overheated. Sadly that side effect remained even though I'm no longer on the medication. I've had to figure out a lot of tricks in order to cope. Short yoga shorts, fish nets, and light colored skull or skeleton print tank tops are my go to when it's hot. It's not as good as wearing black, but it's a comprise I have to make. Wearing silky slips as dresses works quite well, too.
I honestly don't know why im watching these videos. I'm not goth, i've never been goth, and i probably wont ever be goth. Hell I dont even know anyone who is goth yet i have watched like 15 videos. They are very good videos though keep it up.
Late to this video’s party, but...fill a small spray bottle about 1/3 of the way with rose water and fill the rest with filtered or distilled water. It’s great to mist on your face to refresh and cool down. You can add a drip or two of alcohol for extra cooling, but that can be harsh on sensitive skin. You can also add a couple drops of argan or liquid coconut oil, but then you will need to remember to shake well before misting. Bonus: if you only spray lightly, it can actually help set your makeup.
I live near Prescott. It gets hot here too, and black definitely is not comfortable here either in the summer. I switch to black tank tops (racerbacks only) in the summer, and lightweight accessories, black shorts, and sandals. No fishnets, because I don't want waffle skin---had it once. (Jan Griffiths).
Even though it's meant for "middle aged" women I highly recommend the Poise Hot Flash wipes. it has a cooling agent so when air hits after you wipe over your skin you feel a chilly breeze!!
Another tip! If you have facial jewelry, I highly suggest switching out metal bars/loops/studs for plastic. Plugs/tunnels should be glass or wood. I'm not sure of how often this happens in other places, but where I live (Las Vegas, Nevada) I've seen people's metal jewelry heat up & actually injure them. Burns around & in the piercing hole are noooot fun.
This was very helpful. Although I don't consider myself exclusively goth my clothing ranges from gothic to punk to just regular grunge etc., I still find videos like this insanely helpful. Lots of love
black doesn't attract heat, it just doesn't reflect heat nearly as well as lighter colors, it tends to absorb the light/heat (which is why it's hard to see someone wearing black at night, even with a flashlight shining on them, as opposed to someone wearing lighter colors)
I'm not even goth, but I do wear a lot of black. In summer, I like to take a page out of the Beduin's book and dress in thin (preferably silk) fluttery layers of black. It makes you look glamorous and weird and it creates your own 'ecosystem' under the cloth, keeping you ... well, not cold, but definitely less hot and sweaty than if you go around with lots of your skin exposed.
Milani black liquid eyeliner is the best for summer or any time really. it is completely waterproof and smudge proof. (once it dries). I would totally recommend it. :)
+Sheena Brighton I've been wanting to for a long time! Sadly I'm still living out of a bag, and shan't be reunited with my winter wardrobe until January! Bwaah! Hoping to do some wintery OOTDs for helpful inspiration though :D
Oh that'd be so much easier! Big boots go well in the winter, and there are lots of sites that sell really nice fur-lined cloaks & coats and such that'd go really well with general goth fashion.
I'm not even goth i just love black clothing and this video is so helpful cause I've been wearing ripped jeans and thin tshirts for years now and haven't thought of any of these things
Thank you so much for this video!! This was very helpful when planning on what to wear when i go to ginnie springs. Normally being goth and hot temps are unbearable but this was very helpful!!
If you're not using foundation you can try organic, mineral-based sunscreen. It's mostly very white and also makes your skin look a little more pale though I find it hard to apply and to blend.
Thank you SOOOO much!!!! I live in South Carolina, USA and it is up to 100°F and its not even summer yet! There is no such thing as spring here! And as a babybat, this helped a lot.
fun idea if you lean a little towards the punk side~ buy some white linen pants and add studs, patches and even paint some stuff on you like! Super light and a good way to experimenting with creativity :3
It's not a myth, black really attracts more heat and the reason why people in warm countries wear black is because the clothes are loose and air can travel inside and exit etc. so the colour of the clothes in that case doesn't matter :)
I live in Florida and tend to go for t-shirts and capris, but this gave me some ideas to make my wardrobe a little more interesting. Just found your channel recently! I'm binge watching videos now. Thanks, Gorgeous!
I find it more difficult in the other seasons because it's cold and I always need something warm and soft to cover me (I'm autistic so it might be sensory needs as well)
Re-watching this video now that summer is coming up. I definitely need to buy more summery clothes! Almost everything I own is for colder weather (because I live in Sweden so it's cold for a pretty large portion of the year) so I'll have to look for some light and flowy stuff on eBay. And accessories. At least I already have a parasol (with SPF 50, yay!) and a large sunhat - the exact one you showed in a picture here, actually!
Literally I'm a bloke and I like a dread summer, I like it for the time off like, but I find it very hard to remain alternative, you saying layering down and blinking it up, saved me last summer, I just started sewing on silver zips, or studs, and chains to shorts, and my black shirts(not all on the same piece of clothing), hoping to experiment more in the summer, even though your video is mainly directed at women, but it still helped me lots, thank you
This video has saved my life. I love in Texas, USA, and it is always so humid here, especially in the part of Texas that I live. Summertime, the temperature gets to the 90s, or, God forbid, 100s. It's torture. Right now, its November, and the temperature has been in the 70s and 80s. Not sure what's going on this year, but usually this time of year the high is in the 50s or 60s. So yeah, you have saved my life with this video.
Oooh, so lovely - I adore how mesh looks on you. Definitely seconding the primer advice. Had my face melt off many times. I usually keep a hand fan with me at all times, makes me look creepy but also keeps you cool. And, I walk around with an umbrella. So the sun doesn't make it worse by heating my head up.
if you go to the beach you can also look for waterproof sunscreen and makeup. that way it wont be as runny after swimming, and black flipflops with cute skulls are great for summer and match with everything.
I gave up this summer lol. I stopped wearing make up completely and lived in shorts and t shirts. I can't wait for winter! Also, that swimsuit is adorable on you!
thank you black friday to the survival guide for summer you've really I inspired me to express myself personally I love the way you did your boyfriend make up video
I live in Louisiana, it's right in between Texas and Florida, which means for me that it's not only perpetually humid af year around, but also unbearably hot starting sometime between late Jan to early March and usually ending sometime in either Nov or Dec. so needless to say (but i'm gonna say it anyways cuz why the fuck not) the sun is my Arch Nemesis and it's out to destroy me.
I used to be living in a place where humidity could kill and frankly lots of jewelry made it worse- necklaces sticking to your chest from sweat, bracelets doing the same etc etc... also i find stockings on both feet and arms a horror to, because again- it´s humid and the nylon sticks to your skin... although it´s better than not wearing any fabric around your arms and legs at all, so I think that "normal" clothes were the best option for me hehe. I loved the video nonetheless you are gorgeous and I just love your channel so so much!
this is very helpful, I live in arizona so I spend most of my time in shorts and fishnets but I got a few great outfit ideas from this! I'm excited to try some of them out.
Dammit, would've needed this BEFORE summer, now it's just about to get cold here xD Oh well, I just stayed indoors :) May I just say you look pretty much perfect in every way? You're beautiful and have the best style I've seen, like, ever! Hair, makeup, clothes, accessories... You got it all perfect! Plus you're super funny and charming and make extremely helpful and entertaining videos! Definitely my favorite goth RUclipsr along with Rezz Atrana ^w^ (Though you're more helpful and he's more funny/silly)
I don't know if you have found out by now, but black attracts heats because (short version) the sun emits colours, where white stuff would repel all colours and therefore the heat, coloured shirts take in the colour they have and repel other colours, and black swallows it all and therefore gets heated up more quickly than other colours. So the whiter it is, the colder it gets.
oh this was so much fun to watch! i almost forgot how i love the batcaveylike look (due to work i have to dress "properly". black is allowed but no rags, spikes and the like) and i kinda miss going to school/university just for being able to wear what i want.. i'm so gonna dress up on my day off haha
I don't know if that is something widely available, but while I was working as a dancer one of my choreographers always carried with her this special "cooling spray" that she would spray in our faces and such when we came off stage, to keep the sweat from ruining our makeup. Could be a useful thing to look for. I think it's just called "cooling spray" but it's basicly like a makeup-setter mixed with things like menthol and some sort of chemicals that absorb a bit of the moisture. Hope that was useful.
I live in Australia.... Our summer the hottest it gets where I live and where it generally sits around is 30-40*C. I wear black shorts, fishnet stockings, black 'gladiator' sandals, a black tank top, absolute minimum makeup (eyeliner and lipstick) and I carry a parasols EVERYWHERE I swear to god everyone should invest in one it's the best thing I've ever bought.
This is extremely useful for a low-key goth like myself who lives in one of the hottest parts of the USA. (One has not known hell until they’ve worn all black to an outdoor concert in mid July in Phoenix, AZ.)
So, i live in Iowa, and it can get very humid, and hot. We honestly have sporadic weather. So, the weatherman or woman could say its going to snow (not possible in the middle of summer, but just and example), and it actually is 105 degrees. I recommend finding a way to put your hair up, in any shape, way, or form. Shorts look great with fishnet, you can put holes into your clothing if your into that, crop tops, ect. Thats just my recommendation.
Just as an aside most pale foundations that I know of do contain some degree of sunscreen already in them. Investing in a setting spray to put over it will just make a match made in heaven! Though honestly I am not goth I've always been attracted to all things dark and spook rather it be cloths, films, etc. because of this I've had to figure out ways to cope with the dreaded Texas heat and still be able to wear my 90% black wardrobe. This tips are absolutely on point!
"Safety pin that shit together" is probably one of the best outfit advice quotes ive heard
fishnet tan, or worse, fishnet sunburn
+ashley barrera My bf had waffle-patterned skin for a long time this year because of sunburn through a fishnet top :p
that may look kindof cool in some spots
+It's Black Friday hey I have a problem maybe u can help me with...I'm goth but I'm like don't know how to show it and stuff if you know what I mean...and I'm kinda shy...what do u think I could do to get me over that black friday.???

Tell me I am not the only one this has happened too....
"It's 90 degrees out take your jacket off."
"Um I don't want too it's part of my outfit!"
same !
All the time.
it's me XD but sometimes i say something like "pff... it's not that hot, i won't take it off" whan in real i feel like melting xd
me and my vests xP I simply won't take them off @.@
all the time
You should do a how to remain goth while maintaining a dress code video.
That's a very demanding request there lol
+Psycho Lama Corporate/office goth? Yikes, hard one.
Even less demanding dress codes. Like, high school and college dress codes. I mean, yeah, they're more allowing than an office setting, but start small, yeah? It's gotta be possible to be goth and professional or goth and erudite at the same time.
+Psycho Lama I have a pretty restricting dress code where I work so I wear all black, pointy shoes, dark lipsticks and 6 rings UuU
That's good advice, thx :b
I like to carry a mini spray bottle filled with my own concoction of peppermint and distilled water. Just a few spritzes and I feel refreshed... sort of like an instant air-conditioner. ^_~
Hey, cool idea! (No pun intended.) Love it. Thank you.
i do that too, but i like a mint/lavender combo, everyone loves it but they aren't sure what the smell is... its like cheating at aromatherapy.
rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle can be good too.
Obviously not too much and only in places where the skin isn't too sensitive(so don't spray it in your face or under your arms if you just shaved your armpits, that might hurt).

Same, I love her videos but I'd never be goth myself.
Haha same. The only thing i can probably relate to is i love black.
+PonceyTheBear Omg i was asking myself the same thing. I guess she has an attractive personality? I realized I love the way she speaks
Me too! But i love black
same. It started when one of her videos showed up in my feed and next thing I know, I'm in love.
If anyone has big thighs (like myself) then grab some of those anti-chafing sticks from your local sports store. They are a dream
Ohmygods! Thank you!
THANKS SO MUCH HOLY SHIT I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER
I NEED THIS
In Scotland summer goth style just means one less jacket... :-(
aiwxo ikr it's so cold in Scotland 😢
It's way better than living in a tropical country, I think (where I live is the subtropical region, but it's still hot AF on summer) :/
It's not a myth about black retaining more heat, it's just science
If only it wasn't true.
Summer is coming ...
gotta prepare myself :) !
I freaking love your channel so much.
starlovestarlight Eee thanks :3 x

Tara Vanflower i live in phoenix too

I'm goth, and I remember watching this video alot still do been subscribed to your channel for 2 years now. 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
You could stay inside in perpetual darkness - I laughed my head off. Another superb video.
Even though it's meant for "middle aged" women I highly recommend the Poise Hot Flash wipes. it has a cooling agent so when air hits after you wipe over your skin you feel a chilly breeze!!
If your skin had the ability to tan, and you wear fishnets, it would most certainly be an interesting tan. LoL.
That actually happened to me once, I had little diamond shaped dark spots all over my legs for about a week
Makes you look like you have scales, lol.
Another tip! If you have facial jewelry, I highly suggest switching out metal bars/loops/studs for plastic. Plugs/tunnels should be glass or wood. Black attracts more heat because it doesn't reflect any light.
Just like your soul.
+T7x that made my day 😂
Daily science quotes from theface ofawsomeness 😂
black doesn't attract heat, it just doesn't reflect heat nearly as well as lighter colors, it tends to absorb the light/heat (which is why it's hard to see someone wearing black at night, even with a flashlight shining on them, as opposed to someone wearing lighter colors)
You always have the best videos! :D
***** Aaah thank you! :3
Yup! Summer is useful to work or get extra money without exposure , but my friends prefer the scent of sun rays
Oh my god, that skeleton swimsuit that you wore, it was SO cute
I'm not even goth, but I do wear a lot of black. In summer, I like to take a page out of the Beduin's book and dress in thin (preferably silk) fluttery layers of black. For the ladies, I love wearing bloomers as shorts! Tank tops with a corset is great too. Keep your hair off your neck with updos and ponytails
Milani black liquid eyeliner is the best for summer or any time really. it is completely waterproof and smudge proof. (once it dries). I would totally recommend it. :)
I love your voice! I just wanted to say!
New Zealand accent!! 😍

New Zealand accent!! 😍

+Devon Martin Well its a gorgeous accent!
Could you do a video like this but with winter fashion?
+Sheena Brighton I've been wanting to for a long time! Sadly I'm still living out of a bag, and shan't be reunited with my winter wardrobe until January! Bwaah! Hoping to do some wintery OOTDs for helpful inspiration though :D
+It's Black Friday I hope you get it back soon!!
+It's Black Friday if I may ask, Do you remember where you obtained your pointed.. pagoda umbrella from?
Just get ALL the layers and leather and all this nice stuff
Oh that'd be so much easier! Big boots go well in the winter, and there are lots of sites that sell really nice fur-lined cloaks & coats and such that'd go really well with general goth fashion.
I'm not even goth i just love black clothing and this video is so helpful cause I've been wearing ripped jeans and thin tshirts for years now and haven't thought of any of these things
Thank you so much for this video!! This was very helpful when planning on what to wear when i go to ginnie springs. Normally being goth and hot temps are unbearable but this was very helpful!!
When I wore fishnet I would soak the arm areas with water to keep cool.
I'd be goth but I'm also broke
I'm broke and goth.
goth started from being broke and punk sooooo??¿?¿??
Try op shops, hunny buns.
Glitter tits thrift stores and up cycling
You can be broke and goth .-.
when it's a hundred degrees in Georgia... and you thought it was 75...
I chose a bad day to wear black skinny jeans...
I'm not Goth but watching your videos just make my day, your style is beautiful and I love the way you talk, you make me so happy >< x
thanks soo much for the great info and for rocking Suspiria in the back :D
I just love how there's just a random blood bag behind her xD
I hear Hawaii is humid that you can't even wear make up it comes right off. That's my version of hell.
Sounds like where I live during the summer
If you're not using foundation you can try organic, mineral-based sunscreen. It's mostly very white and also makes your skin look a little more pale though I find it hard to apply and to blend.
I live in Singapore and it's hot AND humid wearing a tshirt and denim shorts literally make me melt most of the time T-T
Thank you SOOOO much!!!! I live in South Carolina, USA and it is up to 100°F and its not even summer yet! There is no such thing as spring here! And as a babybat, this helped a lot.
Fishnet sunburn is not worth the stress. Here's a tip. Use an umbrella or just don't go outside until it's dark.
I come back to this video every late spring to prepare for the furry of road. ❤☢️
fun idea if you lean a little towards the punk side~ buy some white linen pants and add studs, patches and even paint some stuff on you like! Super light and a good way to experimenting with creativity :3
Social repose be like: N-notice m-me senpai~ ;-;
Truee

The spray-on sun lotion works well without that greasy feeling.
I find it more difficult in the other seasons because it's cold and I always need something warm and soft to cover me (I'm autistic so it might be sensory needs as well)

This video speaks to my Floridian goth soul! Thank you for this video.
COOLING MIST IS REALLY COLD AND IF YOU SPRAY IT ON YOURSELF ITS NICE AND COOL FOR SUMMER❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This video has saved my life. I love in Texas, USA, and it is always so humid here, especially in the part of Texas that I live. Summertime, the temperature gets to the 90s, or, God forbid, 100s. I gave up this summer lol. I stopped wearing make up completely and lived in shorts and t shirts. I can't wait for winter! Also, that swimsuit is adorable on you!
Go for natural materials like cotton, linen or silk rather than synthetics, so much more comfortable in the heat!
That beach towel tho!!! >:O
I LOVE IT!
This is sloop useful! Of course I decide to go full Goth during the worst heatwave the UK has ever seen!
thank you black friday to the survival guide for summer you've really I inspired me to express myself personally I love the way you did your boyfriend make up video
I live in Texas, and even in winter I still need to follow these tips most days lol
Hard Candy's walk the line eyeliner stays throughout tons of sweat, so I recommend that. Finally, I have eyebrows/eyeliner for the entire day~! ^o^
I used to cut my clothes up and put them back together with safety pins just because I liked how it looks. love your videos keep up the good work
Beach is definitely where i let my image down, awesome tips :3
Neutrogena has an ultra sheer sunscreen spray that I love, it also comes in 100 spf
Hairspray also works to set makeup if you can't find makeup setting spray.
As someone who lives in the desert, THANK YOU
I used to be living in a place where humidity could kill and frankly lots of jewelry made it worse- necklaces sticking to your chest from sweat, bracelets doing the same etc etc... also i find stockings on both feet and arms a horror to, because again- it´s humid and the nylon sticks to your skin... although it´s better than not wearing any fabric around your arms and legs at all, so I think that "normal" clothes were the best option for me hehe. Perfect advice for the year-round Cali heat! :) x
this is very helpful, I live in arizona so I spend most of my time in shorts and fishnets but I got a few great outfit ideas from this! I'm excited to try some of them out.
great video! its hot and humid in my part of australia and we only get cooler nights in autumn but hot days till winter
I'm not even a goth, I was just curious about what y'all do in the heat! You look fab though!
Love that blood bag on the wall!!
Summer is almost over with where I live and coming into the Autumn months. I can't wait for the weather to get cooler so I can wear more layers
This video is life... I just found your channel the other day and I'm obsessed! I'm from Australia soooo I know what you mean about the heat.
I will NEVER part with my leather motorcycle jacket. The heat can melt it to my skin for all i care lol
Take a shaul or lacy whatever piece of clothing. Put it in a zip lock bag overnight. Feeling too hot? Drape that shit on.
clever😃
oh this was so much fun to watch! i almost forgot how i love the batcaveylike look (due to work i have to dress "properly". black is allowed but no rags, spikes and the like) and i kinda miss going to school/university just for being able to wear what i want..
i'm so gonna dress up on my day off haha
re: beachwear "unholy creature of night" 😂😂😂 I love you.
i love your style so much ;^; you are my goth goals /sighs/

I once went to a metal festival in Italy. In August. Everybody was melting down...I wore white :)
Ooh, make one for winter too, need inspiration now that the cold is creeping upon us here in Sweden! :D
Your makeup is always so pretty.
I have never thought of fishnets under swimwear, that's kinda genius
Hot Topic- Store for any time of year.
LOOOVE the bathing suit. from Florida, USA here... currently melting
This is extremely useful for a low-key goth like myself who lives in one of the hottest parts of the USA. (One has not known hell until they’ve worn all black to an outdoor concert in mid July in Phoenix, AZ.)
I love the bag of black coloured blood in the background
So, i live in Iowa, and it can get very humid, and hot. We honestly have sporadic weather. So, the weatherman or woman could say its going to snow (not possible in the middle of summer, but just and example), and it actually is 105 degrees. I recommend finding a way to put your hair up, in any shape, way, or form. Shorts look great with fishnet, you can put holes into your clothing if your into that, crop tops, ect. Thats just my recommendation.
I love my boots. Don't know what I'd do without them.
I love the bat 🦇 tights and your fishnet top
I always love the look of parasols but alas, walking stick, so I'd look pretty dumb and have no free hands. Such is the indignity of life.
