Near Disaster With The New Pond, Pond Auto Top Up, Fixed The Moving Bed Filter

In this episode I've had a near disaster since putting the fish in the new pond! I've also got my top up system done and sorted a little problem with the moving bed.

Looking great Mike. All the friends that I know that have windows, have had fish jump thinking about it, never thought of pond window doing that, glad I never did one. I like to see them from the top. Shiro should make a good recovery, he/she is in more than capable hands. Have a great weekend mate 👍
Thanks buddy 👍Yeah apparently it's quite common. I've seen a lot of videos on Facebook of fish jumping and they always seem to be over the window! The shiro seems to be OK! Hopefully not to much damage done 👍
Lucky escape with “phantom” but he’ll come good Might be worth considering a salt bath to help with minor injuries and stress.

The pond window encouraging jumpers is a new one 😜. Glad no one told mine over the last couple of years lol
Thank B, think he's OK but will keep an eye on him. Yeah not sure where I heard it but I've seen a few videos of jumping fish and they do seem to go over the window 🤔
Good update koi mate fish can tend to jump especially in the first few days they go in the pond

Scales will come back so don’t worry about that. Maybe a quick salt bath over the next few days would be a good idea 👍🏼

Cheers Cashy 👍 think he's OK now, couple of battle wounds. Might call him daisy. Looks like a Jersey cow 🐄 thinks he's a cow obviously as he thought he should be on the grass and not in the water 😅👍

Another great video pond looking fantastic love the new shiro & goshgi have you put salt in pond it will help the shiro to recover & it will help against any nitrite until the filters are up to full speed keep videos coming
Thanks bud, yeah they're cracking fish 👍 I did think about adding salt but I'm seeing if I can keep the parameters in check with water changes. If that doesn't work then I probably will go down the salt route. I've got a couple of bags in stock 👍 had my k1 in the temp pond so hopefully that helped 👍

Thanks Phil. Yeah it was a close one. Luckily the wife saw in on the lawn. Seems to be OK at the moment, but will keep an eye on him. Could do with some of those heavy duty prison covers you've got on at the moment. He won't be going anywhere then 😅👍
Joys of koi.. New fish tend to be jumpy.. Id net it over for a week or so.. Have you thought about using your header tank to feed your drum wash pump that's how I do mine. 🤔 Great vids keep it up
Tell me about it, I think he's learnt his lesson! The wash pump feeds directly from the clean water section of the drum, good feature of this particular drum 👍 Thanks for the support, really appreciated 👍
@@koicentralofficial yeh I've the same drum just means your using pond water to clean?
When you say use my header tank do you mean the auto top up tank?
Yeh as its chlorinated it aids with keeping screen clean

Mike moving beds work better with a good head of water above the air source,salt bath your fish not the pond.I build some big systems mate,just some basic advice. Good luck in the hobby
Thanks Chris. Yeah I'm going to drop the moving bed when I get chance, raising the water level. I was a bit out on my calculations but not a major thing to fix. Just a couple of adjustments on the pipework 👍
You'd be amazed how long fish will survive out of
water

Can't you raise the water level on moving bed
I'm looking into that at the moment. It is lower than I had anticipated. A bit of messing about with the pipework but I should be able to drop it a bit more 👍
