Congratulations on your hard work and focus in on the needs of the kids. PBL is a wonderful learning experience for all kids. My son experienced this in middle school, and it was by far his best year in school! My districts ‘s motto “every student every day where ALL means ALL, reminds me of how your team works to purposely meet student needs with a deliberate process and focus, remind me of our motto. You’re all awesome!

This sounds like an awesome project for the kids! I have a couple of questions: 1) how do ADHD and organizationally-challenged kids do with the varied schedule? How do they keep organized? 2) how do you handle the kids that work too slowly and have the tasks assigned to them piling up?3) besides the individual groups/schedules, do you teach whole group lessons? Thnx Bridget for sharing your classroom and teaching ideas!!☺

I relate to you so much when you talk about just being lazy or not planning your meals this week, you are AWESOME, its so nice seeing someone coming across those problems but then still being so badass! Keep rockin it! I really enjoy your videos, I hope I meet teachers like you near where I start working :)

I love the concept of getting kids involved in gardening and similar skill sets! Very valuable experience, and the "big picture" ideas about food sources and sustainability can be rolled in easily! Plus I'm a huge fan of any PBL style classroom! Great stuff!

+Andy Johnson I ❤️ it as well. The kids are able to apply the skills that they are learning to real life situations. It's truly creating a life-long learners 😉

Hi! I love your videos and you are such an inspiration for me as a teacher. I would love to see a sit down video on how you started such an awesome differentiated classroom! I want to start but everything seems so overwhelming so I don’t know how to start. Again great vids 💜

I couldn't finish How to Steal a Dog-- I loved it but it made me so sad, I think about it all the time.

OMG! You related a car plant to starting a garden but did you know that there is a legit historical connection there? Henry Ford saw George Washington Carver as an innovator and they developed a close working relationship to create better resources and clean energy. GWC shared with Ford his observations of how plants grew and 'mass produced' based on what he was studying in nature. Ford took his ideas and together they developed a more efficient car assembly line. Apparently this is why they started calling factories 'plants,' but don't quote me on that. There's a book about the many endeavors and unique friendship between GWC and Ford. Pretty interesting stuff in a historical context!

Just curious why your MAC team didn't divide curriculum areas - one of you teach match, one ELA...
I teach first grade but enjoy watching your teacher vlog!

How you're team will be able to not repeat the same topics and skills since you're going to be having new students but the majority will already have pass the experience of the MAC team.

+Paola Lasanta we continue to give our learners what they need in the math and ELA curriculum. If they are on a fourth grade curriculum then those are the skills they are getting and as they go through the program they will eventually get all the 4-6 grade curriculum. As for science and social studies, we teach specific units in cycle years. We teach life science this year and won't teach it again for another 3 years. This allows us to focus on PBLs in the classroom and still give all learners the curriculum over the 3 years they are with us.
