Yeah except german mains are blind as hell, had an entire panzer battalion, panther and tiger 2 tanks at least 7 of them, and they passed my is-4m like I wasn't there
As a Tiger player I can say that I made the switch to regular pzgr rounds a few months ago and man am I glad I did, I got way more kills than I did before, still take a few pzgr 39 rounds with me just in case I need a little more pen
I suck at video games and I'm mediocre at War Thunder on a good day, but I did retire after serving 23 years in the Navy. Biggest issues I see with players and things easy to correct: 1) Watch where you're driving. Been bumped by a lot of teammates running right behind me and either got pushed into the open in front of an enemy or got my shot messed up by a friendly bumping me. 2) People will spawn right in front of others through no fault of their own. Focus on getting out of the spawn (leave room for faster vehicles to get past you) and don't get distracted by teammates who are more interested in fighting each other than the other team. 3) Learn how to scout and mark enemies on the minimap, even if you only hear them but don't see them. It's better to know the enemy might be in a spot than not know he's in a spot at all. 4) Scan your minimap; you might save yourself or a teammate. If a friendly just died and it wasn't due to a bomb, an enemy is watching that spot. 5) No one "owns" a spot. If someone is playing where you normally play, move on. Having said that, if you're in a scout vehicle with speed, use it; don't sit in a sniper hole; get out to a flank. 6) If you're in a fast vehicle, it's far better to blow past the closest CAP and set up to defend the middle cap or scout enemies moving toward it. 7) If you're in AAA, get out of the spawn before you shoot at enemy aircraft. As soon as you shoot, you're drawing attention to yourself, and if you're in a spawn, there's a good chance you'll get bombed and the bomb will kill anyone else respawning. 8) Don't rush the enemy base too early in the game. 9) If you have a choice, don't respawn in a base that's overrun or covered by the enemy. 10) Hiding in a corner might allow you to live for a while, but it won't make you a better player and it definitely won't help your team. 11) Don't machine gun/shoot objects/friendlies. You definitely give away your position and if there's not an enemy near your teammate, you might give away their position too. Use the minimap to call out threats. 12) Move to a location where you'll actually be useful to your team. Sitting on top of hills is bad. Sitting just on the backside so you can see/scout over the hill either 3rd person or with binos will help out your team and save you from getting sniped.
all solid advice, only nit pick i'd say is, if its the beginning of the match on certain maps, remove the cover with your MG if possible (say on factory for instance on A point) so your enemies cant use it. and vice versa if you're in a good spot with destructible cover, use it to get those easy one shot kills then move.
your first 2 is just normal warthunder things, for most it's just common sense not to drive into anyone, but that doesn't always exist but it's also not always intentional . 3-4 - normal tactical stuff. 5 6 7 and 8 is almost the same thing, have several spots or at least co operate with whoever is in your spot and or with light vehicles it would be better to say you have a better chance of getting to some spots slower tanks couldn't get to before the battle starts heating up. 9 is the one i have the most problem with if a spawn is overrun with enemies and you can spawn do it- spawn protection means 50 tanks could be shooting at you but you can at least kill 3 before dying(if you are not holding W). 10 also a disagree, sure you could have more map awareness, but this strategy is the opposite of the hold W move and (not in every case) but can easily slap the ones holding w. 11 is a yeah i agree and 12 is just regular tactical stuff, sitting on a hill with no cover or no retreating place is asking for death, the normal strategy is only expose yourself for when you fire...... besides that, you're in the navy for decades, i'm in the airforce for decades, perhaps we both should've been army (lol, i like camping but not that much)
@@legendaryryan1623 - I appreciate the comment and thanks for your service. I wrote this up because I see/experience all these on almost a daily basis, so “normal warthunder things” clearly need to be discussed. I haven’t paid a dime for the game; just I’m literally just grinding out and spading all the ground vehicles for every country and working on BR4.7-5.3 at the moment. @@stuchris - Valid technique, but as you said, it can work for or against you depending on the stage of the game and how well your team does on the first round of engagements with the enemy.
Bought this thing a couple years ago not long after Phly did a video on this and I hated it with a passion for like 2 weeks😂 then my "skill issue" disappeared and every since then I love it.
I bought it a year ago and I loved it immediately. I´ve decided not to put bushes on the turret, and instead put them on the hull to make it look like a normal Henschel Tiger. And it works. There were already dozens of people that completely missed the "Porsche" part of Porsche Tiger, and decided to fire their roughly 150mm-pen shells straight at my 200mm thickass steel slab.
remember a while ago i watched a video you made on the tiger 1 showing how powerful it is if you angle correctly and take advantage of the overpressure aphe and i decided to go put this new knowledge to the test and that game was the first time i ever got a nuke 10/10 very helpful BawZ thank you for improving my game
I saw a guy with 3k games with this tank in arcade battles, he had like 85% win ratio and atleast 13 kd ratio, dude was insane lucky he was on our team
One vehicle I wish to see one day is the Sd.Kfz.250 mit 5 cm PaK 38. Which is what is says on the tin, it's a Sd. Kfz 250 half-track armed with a 50mm PaK 38 on it.
Just because learning from videos came up: I play WT with some friends who have been playing for a long time and they said I wouldn't learn from watching other people play. That was in fact not true. My situational awareness developed a lot by watching other WT veterans (like Odd) play the game. Pzgr is the funniest against overconfident goobers reversing into battle, if the cupola shot doesn't work, the overpressure will sometimes still go through the engine bay and kill the turret crew. And if you know where to shoot every other tank, it's just a straight up menace.

Now I am wondering why the sides of Tiger II turrets are absorbing ATGM shots without a hint of overpressure. The poor guy peeking his head out of my Swedish lunch box craps himself when it happens twice in a row and the Tiger II finally gets angry enough to see who's shooting.
I have a friend who doesn't read stats and doesn't listen, he uses APCR and gets mad every time he doesn't oneshot. If a tank doesn't have APCR on 5.3+, it's garbage for him. Apparently, he uses only APHE and AP in low tier. USSR enjoyer in German tech tree.

As a tiger e graduate (i play leos mostly now) i personally prefer that extra bit of penetration from the other shell, but the times i did use the nuke shell it was quite satisfying watching some poor bloke in an m22 melt
The non-historic-BR has pissed me off so bad, I just swichted to Sim battles. I can see why they aren’t enjoyable for RUclips content but if you want to enjoy the game, that would be a nice change once in a while. Love the content Odd!
I learned this through just playing the tigris a ton. the 145 pen round just kills more consistently and basically pens everything the same. If you get the round in a tank, it dies.
Did as you suggested. Tiger Command Tank, just like in video. BR 6.7 in RB. 5 kills. All one-shots. Killed by revenge bombing. Took Tiger H1 Same gun, same shell. 2 more kills. Killed by revenge bombing. #1 on team Best game in years, in Tigers.
*Regarding SPAA's staying at the spawn point.* There are times when that is the best move _if you want to keep _*_any_*_ air cover_ - Depending on the game status, map type and what the team is doing. However - as a rule of thumb, and particularly if you have decent pen (like my fav SPAA the English Falcon) it can also help the team by being a "nuisance" to the enemy. _(humbly a 100+ lev player)_ But as always - we do not know if these players had sock tanks and or were down to their last SL, so I cut them some slack, but understand the frustration.
A big reason AA doesn't go into the middle of a map is kinda self evident. You've put yourself in a squishy vehicle that can be killed by anything to try to shoot down planes. In return, your tank teamates ignore or actively bait you for free kills despite you being there to protect them. AA is a thankless vehicle role that gets very little protection, especially from German players
odd is one of those players who considers spaa to be tank destroyers/light tanks. he assumes you are taking armor belts, and your primary focus will be on tanks with planes being a secondary bonus objective. i dont think he can comprehend the idea of an spaa player spending most of their time looking in the sky for planes, with anti-air specific belts loaded, and as such being very vulnerable to enemy tanks. knowing full well that they will be the first tank shot at in any fight. is it easier to kill a plane before it gets ANY bombs off if you are in the middle of the map? yeah, sure. but you cant kill any planes if your spaa is killed, and you still help your team even if you dont stop the FIRST drop, since most cas has multiple drops and stopping any number of them is better than zero. not even to mention that being in the middle of the map like that, you often miss the first drop ANYWAY even when you're alive because you're paying so much attention to not getting killed by ground units you miss that someone spawned a plane till they buzz you (since gaijins sound design is ass)
Best spot for AA is 300-400 meters behind your frontline. Staying in spawn is highly unhelpful when a skillful CAS player is already focused on the middle of the map.
@@tonedeaftachankagaming457 being dead is also highly unhelpful. dont know if you noticed this but with the exception of like 5 maps, 300-400 meters behind your frontline IS spawn. Stalingrad there being a prime example, each minimap square is about 100 meters dude.
@tonedeaftachankagaming457 I argue that the best place for AA to be is mobile. If you're playing a German SPAA, true, their armor piercing shells aren't enough to kill most medium/heavy tanks, but I've shot through the turret cheek on a t34 so many times with the ostwind that I prefer them to turn and look at me. The ostwind also has PLENTY of ammo unless you're spending an obscene amount of time shooting things you don't need to or shooting full auto at planes that are too far away (bait them to come closer or make them nervous by firing ranging shots until they're within 600m or have lost momentum from their initial spawn dive). If I try to bait planes with the lvkv 42, I'll be out of ammo because it only gets like 108 shots and is way faster RPM than the ostwind. And the spaghettiwind, though it has a continuous belt, still only carries like a 10th of what the wirbelwind does.
My only problem with this tank is that I tend to run out of ammo before the match ends, but thanks to that fancy Prius transmission it has, I can retreat to a cap backwards while tanking shells to the forehead. I have a match recorded where I get like 5 kills in a row, while in a hysteric panic. The loader barely had a chance to close the breach between shots. This tank is too much fun.
I use the same shell type i got from the heavy tank no 6 i earned through ✨️✨️✨️GAMBLING✨️✨️✨️ and as a japan main in ear thunder having my first geavy ta k ever made me feel like a beast
Jumbo has better armor, a single frontal weakpoint (that's extremely small), stabiliser, better mobility apart from reverse and a .50cal. I think that's a pretty sweet deal
Nice vid. Tnxs for showing us the play. You like the APHE filler shells. You should look at the 3.0 Italian P40. 75mm shell with over 260 grams of filler and 76 pen. It is a monster shell.
Honestly kinda wish we did get the TRIAL for the APHE changes. It was just to test them not to fully implement them. would have shaken up things a lot and for a short time. Maybe of shifted the game back towards a higher skill level because every tank couldnt kill every other tank easily from the front again.
The fact that all those SPAA were sitting in their own spawn, as far as I know not even shooting at the aircraft harassing the rest of their team, shows me that no one knows how to play them. They are probably the kind of guys who complain about CAS, but refuses to do anything about it like it's not their problem to solve. All you've gotta do is practice SPAA and you will be hitting more and more aircraft from farther out. One of my recent Anti-CAS kills in SPAA happened a few days ago in the French TPK. I hit an aircraft (can't remember which one) flying away after his attack run and took him down from around 1.5 km out where before I couldn't hit anything above 1 km flying towards me provided I wasn't using radar guided munitions.
I love the Porsche Tiger. Front towards enemy and more often than not they'll mindlessly shoot your UFP and wonder why you didn't die. Untill you meet someone who knows what you are ofcourse.
21:49 Rants about the playstile of "German Mains". His entire team is composed of people playing Russia, plus one with Sweden and two with Germany (himself included). So we can safely assume that everyone can be garbage at this game, not just "German Mains".
Burnt in my brain it is, but when I killed a jumbo Pershing with the PzGr on a tiger E, shooting at that tiny plate in the front that is like 300mm of armour.
i think b4 my time playing the game had changed so the battles were more open sided, and not always historical, which i think was a good move for GAMEplay for everyone to face everyone....taking that a step further, i would honestly like to see a mode where the BR is much tighter matched, rather than a br up AND down, but rather 1 BR difference in total, but also this could make match making 1000x times faster if we simply always mirror match, meaning that the matchmaker pulls say 20 germans, 12 US, 12 USSR and 6 frenchmen, all at that very close BR and splits them down the middle, half on either team...there could be a bit more deciding factors like if someone has 2 vehicles then it tries to put a player doing equivalent count on the opposing side...and account level or battle capability...this would honestly drive out any thoughts of bias per nation, bc everyone would be fighting the same sets of foes, some look like allies bc they are....this is a GAME so why would it matter
additionally you lose the probability of getting that "typical nation player" who does a dumb mind set bc they keep monkey see monkey doo-doo-ing, the mirror match runs two chances of the 50/50 of getting the dumb ones or facing them...even the chance its split down the middle too
It's why German mains were pushing for the APHE changes REALLY hard. Jumbo mains would no longer be able to cupola shot Tigers while they could get an OHKO from an MG port shot with pzgr.
hey odd maybe you will play focke-wulf 190 C, its rare prototype made for high altittude figter, i think its might be cool to see you play with it(really please ily )
Funny thing is that when I play Germany at this BR I most of the times get either Germany and Russia vs the Rest or the Axispowers (Germany, Italy, Japan and sometimes Sweden) vs the Rest

I for one like when you have a plane to hop in; especially at these mid/lower tiers and especially derpy planes.
German lvl 10 players gonna make gaijin rich now
Did as you suggested.
Tiger Command Tank, just like in video.
BR 6.7 in RB.
5 kills.
All one-shots.
Killed by revenge bombing.
Took Tiger H1
Same gun, same shell.
2 more kills.
Killed by revenge bombing.
#1 on team
Best game in years, in Tigers.
I love these intros :D
Man, now I want the VK 36.01 (H) in the tech tree.
Or the VK 30.01 (H) as well.
Definitely gonna get this beast once sales come
Always wanted it despite me already finishing the German ground tree
That engine sound was your tank down shifting.
It could rev up to take the increased load from the generators but it didn't actually have a transmission , it was a hybrid.
@@chexlemeneux8790 yeah but the sound only happens when the GEARS down shift. I'm sure it's just a sound bug since it doesn't have a transmission.
every oddbawz video is a long 30 minutes and i enjoy every second of it
*Regarding SPAA's staying at the spawn point.* There are times when that is the best move _if you want to keep _*_any_*_ air cover_ - Depending on the game status, map type and what the team is doing.
The intro is so entertaining.
1:50 *this is only the case for APHE, HE shells, not for HESH or HEAT(FS) shells :(
A big reason AA doesn't go into the middle of a map is kinda self evident. You've put yourself in a squishy vehicle that can be killed by anything to try to shoot down planes. In return, your tank teamates ignore or actively bait you for free kills despite you being there to protect them. AA is a thankless vehicle role that gets very little protection, especially from German players
I only play AA when I have an AA task. Ostwind II is my goto. Never having to reload is awesome and makes up for my skill issues
odd is one of those players who considers spaa to be tank destroyers/light tanks. he assumes you are taking armor belts, and your primary focus will be on tanks with planes being a secondary bonus objective. i dont think he can comprehend the idea of an spaa player spending most of their time looking in the sky for planes, with anti-air specific belts loaded, and as such being very vulnerable to enemy tanks. knowing full well that they will be the first tank shot at in any fight.
is it easier to kill a plane before it gets ANY bombs off if you are in the middle of the map? yeah, sure. but you cant kill any planes if your spaa is killed, and you still help your team even if you dont stop the FIRST drop, since most cas has multiple drops and stopping any number of them is better than zero.
not even to mention that being in the middle of the map like that, you often miss the first drop ANYWAY even when you're alive because you're paying so much attention to not getting killed by ground units you miss that someone spawned a plane till they buzz you (since gaijins sound design is ass)
4:29 failed assassination ahhh shot
Hey Odd! You should definitely check out the Ikv 72 it overpressures every time at its BR at 1.3
I think the tiger P is more electric with a personal power plant than a hybrid. But i think it was still quieter normal tigers.
I've known about this shell for a while, its fucking crazy and superior in almost every way to the stock round
the fact this is in the same br as a 75 jumbo is a travesty...
Jumbo has better armor, a single frontal weakpoint (that's extremely small), stabiliser, better mobility apart from reverse and a .50cal.
I think that's a pretty sweet deal
@@skdKitsune Dosen't make up for its shit gun
@@mrchambers31 Kinda does though, since it's not even shit to begin with
@@mrchambers31it just doesnt have pen, otherwise its good.
there is theory and then there is practical application. all good.
Nice vid. Tnxs for showing us the play. You like the APHE filler shells. You should look at the 3.0 Italian P40. 75mm shell with over 260 grams of filler and 76 pen. It is a monster shell.
Same kind of deal with the 16 pounder. Shot Mk8 has less pen than APCR but it does more post pen.
the only thing I need to know is, how can you share to us this amazing guy named OddBawz
Hi big thanks for all your videos on this game. i have started to play on it and it is a ferry good game big thanks
The boys and I call it the beef wellington the 6th LOL
Honestly kinda wish we did get the TRIAL for the APHE changes. It was just to test them not to fully implement them.
would have shaken up things a lot and for a short time. Maybe of shifted the game back towards a higher skill level because every tank couldnt kill every other tank easily from the front again.
Reminds me of when I first started and only used apcr because it was it had the most pen
Are you going to try out the J-10 in the upcoming patch, Odd??
A little mispoken number, in the intro you said 4, it's a 6. I just found it funny😂
Burnt in my brain it is, but when I killed a jumbo Pershing with the PzGr on a tiger E, shooting at that tiny plate in the front that is like 300mm of armour.
As Spookston say the funny round.
Man, I miss the historical MM. That was good times
Oddball, you can also just call it the Porsche Tiger or Tiger Porsche
I switched over to the PZGR rounds after I saw a Odd video approx 6 mths back. If the shell goes through, the crew goes too!
This the Do335, and the stürmtiger is my go to line up
Thank you for the tip❤
Strong imagination you have there Odd lol
i think b4 my time playing the game had changed so the battles were more open sided, and not always historical, which i think was a good move for GAMEplay for everyone to face everyone....taking that a step further, i would honestly like to see a mode where the BR is much tighter matched, rather than a br up AND down, but rather 1 BR difference in total, but also this could make match making 1000x times faster if we simply always mirror match, meaning that the matchmaker pulls say 20 germans, 12 US, 12 USSR and 6 frenchmen, all at that very close BR and splits them down the middle, half on either team...there could be a bit more deciding factors like if someone has 2 vehicles then it tries to put a player doing equivalent count on the opposing side...and account level or battle capability...this would honestly drive out any thoughts of bias per nation, bc everyone would be fighting the same sets of foes, some look like allies bc they are....this is a GAME so why would it matter
additionally you lose the probability of getting that "typical nation player" who does a dumb mind set bc they keep monkey see monkey doo-doo-ing, the mirror match runs two chances of the 50/50 of getting the dumb ones or facing them...even the chance its split down the middle too
Isn't the Ferdinand what they recycled all the unused Tiger P hulls into after Germany chose the Henschel?
Yes, the Ferdinand are just recycled Tiger P tanks.
It's why German mains were pushing for the APHE changes REALLY hard. Jumbo mains would no longer be able to cupola shot Tigers while they could get an OHKO from an MG port shot with pzgr.
🤫
The Panzer Beef-Wagon
i like the german athem at the start
0:32 VI is 6, IV is 4
This thing is my baby
1:40 "we should get all of the turet crew but we wont get the gays in the front"
as a guy who plays tiger a shit ton of time i thank you for this knowledge
hey odd maybe you will play focke-wulf 190 C, its rare prototype made for high altittude figter, i think its might be cool to see you play with it(really please ily )
Funny thing is that when I play Germany at this BR I most of the times get either Germany and Russia vs the Rest or the Axispowers (Germany, Italy, Japan and sometimes Sweden) vs the Rest
