    Wow! I have always wondered why I get severe tension headaches right before or during my period. People always say it is a hormonal migraine, but it isnt. It feels like extreme tension. I can feel it building in my neeck muscles before it happens.

    I’ve also suspected my issue might be hormone related after you previously mentioned this as I have endometriosis which is linked to high estrogen levels and the tmj issues started a few months after I started having even heavier periods and 2 periods per month. I think my bite is also related to the pain and the tmj pain is a lot less after Invisalign. Maybe about 70% better which I think is pretty good. I also get more endo pain at night and tend to clench my teeth because of it so it is a cycle of multiple things keeping the pain going.

    What is the solution in this case ?

    • @theTMJdoc
      @theTMJdoc  7 месяцев назад +1

      I don’t have a solution for hormonal levels. But I have found that a good TMJ orthotic can bring a lot of relief.

    • @theTMJdoc
      @theTMJdoc  7 месяцев назад +1

      It’s not the type of orthotic, it’s the prescription built into it that makes a difference

    I only started having TMJ/TMD issues since getting off birth control and I can literally tell when my estrogen is up and when it’s down based on my pain. When it’s low, like during my cycle, the side of my face/head aches and the right part of my mouth burns. During times like ovulation I have zero pain at all. It’s wild.

    Is water flosser or waterpik remove tartar?

      @theTMJdoc  7 месяцев назад

      Those are not strong enough to remove tartar. Tartar must be removed by a dental professional:)

    Thank you! This is great value, can you also do a video on suprahyoid muscle tension release?

      The suprahyoid area is actually more about tongue posture than the muscles there. Check out my videos about tongue tie for more information!

      @@theTMJdoc Wow thank you yet again, I do have a bit of tongue tie now that i see the bandy tissue thingy, because i tried mewing (I could but couldn't suction hold) with my TMD with straight posture last night, i could hear popping alot less, but then i woke up with sore throat and a bit swollen (Can tongue tie also do this?)

Will they get me to do some exercises with suprahyoid area to calm it down, because when it wasn't swollen i had more visible jawline :)
      Thanks!!!
