If you not notice, the focused fishing meter is completely useless. It is just a placebo. You can catch legendary and exotic even the bar is full empty. It is just "random".
I believe there a max amount of fish that can be on the ground, exceeding that limit will despawn the first fish that was caught, I saw Farris have an exotic fish despawn after he caught another fish
Something important to note that I don't think was mentioned in the video, is that you can use any character to add the fish to the tank. For example, if you've not obtained all the exotics from engrams for a class, you may want to change characters before adding legendary fish.
I wish that the zone that had increased spawns didn't have public events or that they were on alonger cool down. Number of time I've gotten to tier 3/4 focused for the pond to go away because the cabal dropped a drill
Little lesson I just learned you didn’t mention. Do not let to many fish stay on the ground! I followed your advice, fished up two exotics, kept fishing, and when I eventually grabbed them, they despawned. So yea, when you catch an exotic, you go grab it ASAP 😒 cause now I have to go farming more bait again, just to start over -sigh-
FYI, if you are leaving fish on the ground, make sure to move your character while fishing. I had over 75 fish and 7 of them legendary at one point and because all I had been doing was casting the rod and not moving it logged me out and I lost all of those fish. I was so mad I haven't gone fishing since (that was 3 weeks ago).
That is a super good idea to yet the meter up fast!!! I got crazy lucky yesterday. I got an exotic fish and 3 casts later got another exotic fish. Everyone started shooting me and emoting at me, lol
Instead of standing still while waiting for someone else to do the PE you can just fast travel and head to the event. All the fish should remain on the ground until you go back to pick them up. Cheers!
If you get the walker tank public event in the EDZ you can burn the first tank so quickly it leaves all the orbs on the ground and they won’t despawn and a new public event won’t spawn in, in that instance. Had this work twice so far but it could just be coincidence
Sounds like coincidence since I've had multiple public events spawn at the sites of a thousand bouncing arc orbs that make it impossible to loot the chest unless you have some kind of GL/Rocket to blast the box away from them all.
@@Viperacrx600 There already is more the one way. Obviously you can purchase 1 per week from rahool, you could farm weekly campaign missions or you could farm master wellspring
So today we had a long break between Public Events, apparently either there is a cap on how many fish you can have on the ground (similar to postmaster rules) or there is a despawn timer. I lost one exotic fish on the ground and many legendary ones waiting for the public event to reset our instance. (we got "lucky" because one of the other events spawned and delayed the public event). Anyways, please let people know to be careful waiting to pickup.
I think Efficient Angler bugged. I've gotten max Focused Fishing multiple times, and caught many fish with the max bar, but I haven't gotten any progress towards the challenge.
the best bait farm I've come across is the tutorial Lost Sector in Trostland EDZ with the entrance in the church. You can equip your classes faster sprint exotic (dunemarchers or Stomp EE5 or whatever), maybe a light frame smg and run past every add, kill the boss, loot the chest, and go back to the trostland patrol area. This should give roughly 5-6 bait per minute.
Things that would make fishing better: PE not despawing the pond. Focused fishing meter going up fast regardless of being solo or not. Max focus meter increasing your chances of getting a legendary fish to every few and exotic to every 10 or so. And each fish gives weapons xp, with exotics giving like 25%-30%.
Yes, having more people means more opportunities to raise the fishing meter but catching exotics seems to be completely random. I've had many moments where we've found many exotic fish while the meter is either empty or under 2-4 bars filled. The meter doesn't seem to mean anything in regards to catching fish that are exotic.
I had great exotic fishing RNG the other day. Caught three in one pool instance (much to the annoyance of my clanmate with me). They had high stats, but were either terrible distribution or an exotic I don't care to keep. But by far the chillest way to get exotics and shards
First love fallout plays....great videos very straight and to the point if there needs to be a correction or addition he comes out and says that he doesn't keep it under the radar he puts it out on the radar so that we know we need to rehash what was just told to us with new info or corrections.... props for that I do have one issue with the video is that he does recommend to stay still it may be different on a controller since I don't use a controller and I am not a very mobile back-and-forth player and more straightforward steer with the mouse don't use the side-to-side or the back button that much I'm always going forward and I tend to die a lot but I'm still a noob still trying to learn to play but when it came to the fishing is that I got to a point to where I could just press the interact button to cast in the interact button on the keyboard to reel in my catch and land my fish. I had caught about 53 fish we were in the middle of getting up to The Feeding Frenzy but just still at the middle....a public event rolled through, dock dropped away, caught most of my fish and then basically went ahead and ran around collected all them and as soon as the the public event was over to the new fishing dock and ran over started fishing again adding to my 53 fish another 70 some fish and I had one exotic a lot of legendary and some other you fish that I could see and I had a thought that I was about to hang it up for the night it was late and I just had this thought of what happened if I got disconnected like bungee had a server error or something like that or my connection just dropped away so I thought about 5 more casts and I'll leave and so what happened was is that I went ahead and I cast out my line and all of a sudden I'm back above the throne World return to orbit for inactivity because I was only activating the interaction button to cast and the interaction button to reel in I was not using the mouse I was not touching any other buttons on the keyboard so I had already received the Triumph for catching exotic fish and any pond and no exotic fish no legendary fish no nothing my bait had been expended the 120 some or 130 some bait so I got the first 53 cuz I collected those but as far as the last 76 or so including the Exotic gone never to return gone "FOR-----EEE-----VVVERR" in the immortal words of the Sandlot movie. OK please don't complain that I'm a m + K user and how I should be banned...not for cheating mind you...just for using m + k. I've gotten that before just because I'm a m + K player and I'm not that good I play warlock main but I tend to rush and melee like Titan but the one thing I can't get past a lot of times is how Titans look like they have hair coming out the back of their neck and out of their back on some of their outfits but I will say this both Titans and Hunters have both save my butt so many times so I cannot complain about them but it does sort of look like they have hair growing on their backs so just a friendly reminder to actually everyone is that move a bit even if it's just basically moving the mouse we're moving the controller view so that Bungie doesn't return you to orbit especially if you have an exotic and it's only 8 m away in Fallout 2 fancy did not say absolutely don't move but he said that it basically waste time if you're always running back and forth to catch a fish and the more fish that you catch the faster The Feeding Frenzy gets there so I do understand his reasoning itself like that it's just basically don't be lazy like me I guess and just press the interaction button
Appreciate the info, bro. I hope other guardians learn about this method of fishing to improve the odds of getting the legendary fish. Personally, I thought that I would lose any fish that I didn't pick up immediately. I'm always watching videos to learn about the best way to play Destiny 2. Thanks again, bro. Got my first exotic fish last night :D first one since fishing became a thing, and the focused fishing bar was only 1 quarter full which was surprising Though I didnt get any others the rest of the night sadly
Has it been tested that a member of the fire team has to be on the new spot in order to get the focus addition when picking up fish? I fish solo, do the pick up after new spawn thing, and focus seems to be much higher when I get to the new spot. Almost like it is adding mine even though I am not there.
I don't recommend leaving your fish on the ground if you have shitternet, though. One disconnection and woop, they're all gone. Edit: The AFK timer can also screw you over sometimes, too, since it seems to only register movement as that you're not AFK, not key inputs.
I have gotten 3 exotic fish so far. Two in the EDZ, almost back to back and with the meter only about halfway full. The other this morning in the Throne World with barely any blue visible. I always get my fish and the best loot table is the fishing spot that is the active zone. As far as I can tell, that meter really has nothing to do with quality, maybe frequency, but everything to do with where you start in the string of numbers random list. I spent a cycle last week in the EDZ with a nearly full blue meter and pulled crap, I mean carp, but all around me others were pulling exotics and legendaries. It is a great farm for the seasonal weapons though.
if you are in a fireteam aswell you can fast travel without picking up fish and even though the models become invisible you can pick them up, so its fully safe. also there is a limit to how many on the ground can hold, if you see one appear on your right pick up some blues before they delete
also make sure you're standing in the water and not on the dock. If you're standing on the dock when the pond goes away, you'll drop and collect any nearby fish
Careful for sitting there too long, I have been kicked to orbit for inactivity. (I've lost LOTS of legendary and exotic fish) Check your inventory every once in a while.
Also, also, also, dont forget to swap to the seasonal armor on deposit. A full set is 12% more xp. At 100+fish... you can see the xp go up every time and get more deep engrams!
this might be a stupid comment but just holding the throw and then pressing the catch button doesnt count as u being active so move your camera a bit or throw some abilities, shoot ur gun whatever do something cus i just lost 3 exotics and a few legendaries cus i thought pressing one button was enough
It does make a difference for several people to be fishing with you. Idk if they fixed this problem, but after a PE the Focused Fishing goes back up to full, or goes up very quickly. I got a total of 4 Exotic fish drops in a very short period of time. This is such a benefit. Not only do you get a sh** load of loot, but you also get xp and triumphs. So start fishing people!!!
They really made season of the blue-collar tbh. You fix cranes with wrenches and batteries then go fishing. Only thing that could make it better is that if you could get a buff if you crack open a cold one while you play
pro tip: I believe you can rocket yourself to get out of the area with all the fish so you can help with the PE. Also, the thing that scares me about this is the constant error codes and disconnects. Literally yanked an exotic fish out and was instantly DC'd at the same time. 😥
Good stuff putting a guide like this together but damn this is way more work than i'm interested in lol. When i get on destiny, I just wanna shoot sh*t xD
Leaving the fish on the ground has been the best thing to do IMO… I’ve been able to get exotics that way and get a clutch exotic when the public event interrupts the fishing platform.
Yeah I fished for 4 hrs and their were 6 players there the whole time when the public event was over all the players resumed fishing and not one of them caught an exotic fish. This is just another challenge that I won't be wasting my time on.
So, the other day, I turned in my legendary fish and got a 71 stat roll aeon swifts. The highest should be 70, so I'm a bit pretty happy about it. I don't say this often, but thank you Bungo!
Just FYI, if you get returned to orbit for any reason, you will lose all of your fish on the ground. You can also get kicked to orbit for being AFK even while actively fishing if you don’t move around at all, so at least wiggle a little bit. Green and blue fish don’t increase your focused fishing meter, so there’s really no reason to *avoid* picking those up either. So if a public event pops up, you don’t have to worry about staying anchored to your spot; go help your buddies clear it faster to get more fishing time before the next one comes.
I personally find gathering planetary resources is fastest for bait. Each one you pick up gives you 3 or 4 bait. I sunply ride a loop on my sparrow with my resource finder turned on. By the time im back to the fishing hole im sitting on a hundred bait or more and it only takes like 5 minutes tops. Much better than wasting 2 minutes on a patrol or event for 6
You could do the lost sector near xur on the edz if your fast enough on strand hunter solar warlock or strand warlock you can be doing the lost sector in about a minute and a half getting 4 bait each clear. If you’re on mnk you can just wellskate out of the lost sectors.
Terminus East is my stomping ground for bait. Drop down the hole then Sparrow in to the lost sector. Then it's just a matter of running in, ignoring literally everything and beelining for the boss, melting him with Witherhoard+Rocket+Fusion nade then looting the chest. Run back out (or Sparrow out if you left it just outside of the room), til you hit Trostland's load zone. Keep in mind you don't have to jump out of the hole to trigger the load zone. Then it's just rinse and repeat. ~30 second run everytime.
@@awesomenessgaming8661 I found a better Strat. So flooded chasm with a demo hot head or reconstruction apex predator 2 rockets kill the boss and you can shoot them while flying in to kill him. If running sunbracers you can also get heat rise.
I actually BROKE the fishing spot in Miasma yesterday. I was the only one in the instance, grabbed a Heroic Patrol before the end of the public event and sat on it. Went to the fishing hole as it spawned and started casting. Nearly an hour later I had depleted my bait, had a couple exotic fish, over a dozen legendary fish (WTF is that drop rate?) and a metric fuckton of blues. Not a single Public Event spawned the entire time I was in Miasma. I left the area to do the Heroic Patrol and IMMEDIATELY after the flag spawned.
It’s not completely risk-free. I saw one guy’s comment on another vid say he got kicked because of an error code and he was asking if his fish would still be there. As nice as it’d be if his fish stayed, I doubt it happened. Maybe it picked them up automatically, but I also doubt that. That’s the risk you take by leaving them on the ground
At this point I am 99% sure that the focused fishing perk is either bugged as hell or just a placebo, much like the amnesia sanity meter

Go bungie !!
Thank God the fishing guide
⚠️Just a heads up if you are trying to do the focus fishing challenge in the seasonal challenge helm upgrade tab you have to do the last 2 fish with randoms, when you try to do it with friends in a fireteam you’ll get to 23/25 and be stuck there.
It happened to me and my friends, pretty sure it’s a bug and Bungie hasn’t acknowledged it
EDIT: the challenge is just completely bugged, been stuck at 23/25 since first day, somehow managed to get it to 24 but it’s stuck and I’ve caught 30 fish while at max focusing since and it won’t complete.
you sure about this? ignoring things that actually need fixing doesnt sound like bungie, theyve done a great job making the experience less fun recently so i dunno why you would say that
The legal disclaimer at the end was quite funny
I love that your vids like this aren't 20 mins long, thanks for getting to the point fast
And that he doesn't do thumbnails that are like "BEST most EPIC fishing in the GAME. Get EXOTIC fish EVERY time." Where 5 of the 20 minutes are spent asking you to like comment and subscribe and also turn on the notification bell. It's free and it helps out my grandma, and you don't want to miss all of the content coming up such as how I'm making the most GAME BREAKING build that is actually just okay.
Hynra faster
Number of time I've gotten to tier 3/4 focused for the pond to go away because the cabal dropped a drill
i really like fishing in D2 it so laid back and you get loot at the same time.. no so grindy like other events this is so chill i love it!
Little lesson I just learned you didn’t mention.
Do not let to many fish stay on the ground!
I followed your advice, fished up two exotics, kept fishing, and when I eventually grabbed them, they despawned.
So yea, when you catch an exotic, you go grab it ASAP 😒 cause now I have to go farming more bait again, just to start over -sigh-
He said to leave blue green and purples on the ground, the exotics you always pick up
@@RezidueWithaZ My bad, I thought he said to leave them all. Sorry if I misunderstood
Standing in 1 spot you can sometimes get returned to orbit
That is a super good idea to yet the meter up fast!!! I got crazy lucky yesterday. I got an exotic fish and 3 casts later got another exotic fish. Everyone started shooting me and emoting at me, lol
Instead of standing still while waiting for someone else to do the PE you can just fast travel and head to the event. All the fish should remain on the ground until you go back to pick them up. Cheers!
can’t sorry. gotta finish this emote
1:28 That one Titan at the right is an absolute unit and that's the only thing I can focus on while Fallout is talking.
How many exotic fish are there currently? And on what corresponding planets?
Them not giving Ascendant Alloys is a wasted opportunity :(
Seriously, we need more than ONE way of getting them
@@Viperacrx600 There already is more the one way. Obviously you can purchase 1 per week from rahool, you could farm weekly campaign missions or you could farm master wellspring
@@SquaredPasta I did 5 Master Weekly Mission in a row and didn't get a single one so I will take fishing farming any day.
This week you just need to pray no one starts the event
I felt roasted when you mentioned picking up all of the green and blue fish 😂😂😅
"Fish love me, Hive fear me"
I cant believe I watched 5 minutes of this. Being a youtuber must be soul crushing.
Things that would make fishing better:
PE not despawing the pond.
Focused fishing meter going up fast regardless of being solo or not.
Max focus meter increasing your chances of getting a legendary fish to every few and exotic to every 10 or so.
And each fish gives weapons xp, with exotics giving like 25%-30%.
Every 10 or so for exotic is absolutely broken. Especially with how good the loot is for the exotic fish
@@aliittayem2244 ok and? It doesn’t really matter. Better exotic farm for better stat split and easy ascendant shard farm for solo players.
That legal disclaimer at the end was everything.
Never expected to see a Destiny Fishing Guide, but here we are
I just think it's cute when Fallout subtly features Ano in his videos.
@@alcatraz_1992 No, I'm sure there's one exotic fish per pond.
I had great exotic fishing RNG the other day. Caught three in one pool instance (much to the annoyance of my clanmate with me). They had high stats, but were either terrible distribution or an exotic I don't care to keep. But by far the chillest way to get exotics and shards
First love fallout plays....great videos very straight and to the point if there needs to be a correction or addition he comes out and says that he doesn't keep it under the radar he puts it out on the radar so that we know we need to rehash what was just told to us with new info or corrections.... props for that
I do have one issue with the video is that he does recommend to stay still it may be different on a controller since I don't use a controller and I am not a very mobile back-and-forth player and more straightforward steer with the mouse don't use the side-to-side or the back button that much I'm always going forward and I tend to die a lot but I'm still a noob still trying to learn to play but when it came to the fishing is that I got to a point to where I could just press the interact button to cast in the interact button on the keyboard to reel in my catch and land my fish.
Fishing got me my best stat roll exotic helmet! So I'm happy with it lol
I appreciate you taking the time out to make these videos 💯👑⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍🏾.
The tackle tipp already makes this video worthwhile xD
I didn't know that shit showed me the best spot
Yeah it’s chill and fun. Got lots of legendary sand exotics
Never thought that we'd be at a point in destiny where "optimal fishing strats" is a video that would be made
you don't have to wait for your friend to cast or wait by the pond. As soon as the new pond spawns you can pick up your fish.
i never would have believed we would be fishing as the go to exotic farm one day, hope they keep this as a permanent feature xD
Got my first exotic fish last night :D first one since fishing became a thing, and the focused fishing bar was only 1 quarter full which was surprising
Though I didnt get any others the rest of the night sadly
Thumbnail is gold.
Never had so much fun in destiny. Glad to have my hobby in a game I actually play :)
My man, if I got those transversive steps, I would go insane
Ahhh, Escalation Protocol has never been more relaxed
solid strat thank you! Unfortunately the first time i tried i disconnected from the server with about 40 on the ground...lol
if you are in a fireteam aswell you can fast travel without picking up fish and even though the models become invisible you can pick them up, so its fully safe. also there is a limit to how many on the ground can hold, if you see one appear on your right pick up some blues before they delete
also make sure you're standing in the water and not on the dock. If you're standing on the dock when the pond goes away, you'll drop and collect any nearby fish
I subscribed for the 10% buff and the ace tutorial lol 😂
Careful for sitting there too long, I have been kicked to orbit for inactivity. (I've lost LOTS of legendary and exotic fish) Check your inventory every once in a while.
If in a fireteam, you can use fast-travel to carefully even leave legendary and exo fish on the ground that are near you.
You, sir, are a true gamer's gamer guide.
You just have awesome rng for the stay rolls..mine have been all low 60's
Thanks for the tips man for sure gonna try this with my friend
pro tip: I believe you can rocket yourself to get out of the area with all the fish so you can help with the PE. Also, the thing that scares me about this is the constant error codes and disconnects. Literally yanked an exotic fish out and was instantly DC'd at the same time. 😥
Also also also switch to seasonal armour when dunking the fish free extra rep right there
Thanks for this info! Luv ya Fallout ❤!
Good stuff putting a guide like this together but damn this is way more work than i'm interested in lol. When i get on destiny, I just wanna shoot sh*t xD
I want an exotic fishing rod 😂
This makes me want Sparrow racing back Ssssssoooo much
Leaving the fish on the ground has been the best thing to do IMO… I’ve been able to get exotics that way and get a clutch exotic when the public event interrupts the fishing platform.
Yeah I fished for 4 hrs and their were 6 players there the whole time when the public event was over all the players resumed fishing and not one of them caught an exotic fish. This is just another challenge that I won't be wasting my time on.
Sweet! Now how do you get the fish bait 🤔
Fallout, as a long time fan I die a little more inside every time you say TLDR. Please have mercy.
Thank you so much Fallout. This weekend is gonna be fun
So, the other day, I turned in my legendary fish and got a 71 stat roll aeon swifts. The highest should be 70, so I'm a bit pretty happy about it. I don't say this often, but thank you Bungo!
This thumbnail is iconic 😆
Fishing while I listen to Myelin and Byf is very cathartic when it’s not interrupted by public events.
Morning coffee, and destiny fishing, can’t beat it
Looking forward for that extra 10% after subscription buff ❤😉
I personally find gathering planetary resources is fastest for bait. Each one you pick up gives you 3 or 4 bait. I sunply ride a loop on my sparrow with my resource finder turned on. By the time im back to the fishing hole im sitting on a hundred bait or more and it only takes like 5 minutes tops. Much better than wasting 2 minutes on a patrol or event for 6
Does the public event actually have to be done when one shows up while fishing to make sure fishing keeps progressing?
I’ve been fishing a lot because it’s easy to do it while I wait and see if a vex strike force event pops up on Neomuna
A heroic patrol? On the EDZ?
@@GooeyBoyz miasma. On throne world.
It’s just the event is optional so as long as no blueberry starts it you never need to reset
