This is why I really like the Japanese stationery scene. Every element has been incorporated so thoughtfully to things that most people take for granted.
@@nBasedAce You can, but they're so boring. Just blister packs of ticonderoga #2 pencils or pink pearl erasers. You can still get some stuff from like pentel or zebra, but japanese stationery stores are where it's really at.
Only issue with it is that once you separate the pages, it'll be difficult to put them back together and now you have to make another hole next to the other big hole if you want to staple them again.
@@Vyz3r I mean, if you're gonna be separating papers then you're probably not gonna staple them normally, it'd be better to use a paperclip or even a binder clip, depending on how many papers you have
@@rydergolde3169 Have you never experienced times when you or somebody else needed to remove staples to fix/copy a paper and then staple them again? As someone who worked in an administration office, this is quite common. A stapler like this would not be use after the few times because it ruins the papers.
@@Vyz3r no that's fair enough, I didn't consider needing to make copies after smth was stapled.. ig I'm just still a bit used to papers in school having the diagonal mark from where it was folded over for copying
@@Vyz3r There are stapless stamplers that don't make such a gigantic hole and are made for easier separation if the papers need to be separated. it's like 0,5 cm line, so it's not all that visible and if you reapply, it's still fine. it's also kinda possible to reapply it on the same spot but it's less strong of a hold when you do so. i don't like the stapler shown in this video at all. it's such a big hole. would be way better making that manually, with smaller slit.
those rulers would have been great back when i was in geometry class, i had alot of dificulty to draw neatly and precisly and to see the milimeters in the rulers
Back then I had a set that was clear plastic and they didn't stand a chance getting carried around in my backpack. Pieces started chipping off and they eventually shattered. I always worry when I see clear plastic rulers like that.
I have that black Midori ruler and you forgot to mention one important thing that caught me by surprise when I got it. When you open the ruler, one of the sides has a 15 cm mini ruler that doesn’t have the gap. So it measures 15 cm from the very edge of the ruler. It is very very useful.
I’m so glad there are people out there who gets my adoration for Japanese office supplies. They’re so well thought out and constructed so perfectly. I have the Midori Multi Rulers, both the clear plastic one and the aluminum one. Let me tell you, it’s the best thing ever. It takes up very little real estate, so they’re perfect for keeping on your desk or carrying!
Although some of these tools are limited in their capability, the ingenuity is impressive. I remember waaaay back in grade school our teacher showed us how to bend a few pages at the corner and manually tear a small strip of the sheets back the other way, which was a form of staple-less stapling. I didn't even know they had a tool for the same purpose.
I can say the staple-less stapler for me has been game changing. My mini staplers failed repeatedly & I need it multiple times a day. This thing is great I just don’t know what to do with all the staples now I’ll never use!
Traditional staples are still needed for official documents like tax forms and other government forms. They should also be used for any other important document where you don't want larger holes. Also, traditional staples tend to perform better when you are stapling things that are thicker than a few pages because the fold becomes increasingly thick with more pages. Of course, personally, I prefer paperclips or binder clips which can be infinitely reused. And, they don't leave holes in the paper. You can get hundreds of paperclips or a few dozen binder clips for a couple bucks.
Edit; TLDR; JUICERO. Period. As a passerby, imo, over engineering happens when mundane everyday things that can be operated directly by hand needed extensive and complex AI and wiring system, specific software that only works for it, needs firewall, link to other electronic devices, WiFi, personal ID, and/or battery power or electric source to work, can only do one thing and one thing only, can't be used with pirated accompanying products, and exclusive/special branding, that leads to the insane price hike only rich and idle people can afford. Stupidest example that ever exist for this is, Juicero. You can't deny this one.
@@realleon2328 that thing isn't poorly engineered at all. It works fine, but it's too fussy and too costly to make despite the nice design and okay function. Thus, it is over engineered imo.
@Molly H. Johns the fact that it is so fussy and overly complicated is exactly what makes the design poor. A well engineered item is something that's easy to use and reliably functional
Of all the JetPen amazing offerings- the Best invention is the staples stapler!!! Everyone needs one and it is a guarenteed winner! Not only do you not have to worry about refilling staples- the creative way the tool locks your papers together is simply genius!!
I didn’t even know that stapler without staples existed! It blew my mind 🤯 definitely over engineered but amazing. That bookmark is good too. I need one like that for my Apica CD Premium Notebook ❤ thanks for another great video! Edit: Thanks for all the likes! 😊
We used to do that to bind pages together by hand in grade school. Fold the corner of a stack of pages. Tear a notch in the middle of the fold, and bend it the other way. It didn't have the fancy arrow and tuck that this thing does, but there's only so much you can do when tearing by hand.
I’ve had the Midori Multi Ruler for a couple of years. I use it often as a ruler and as a protractor, but I never thought of using the holes to draw arcs. Thanks for the tip!
Came outta my mechanics class and god I can’t explain how wonderful it is to see your videos after a somewhat exhausting class. For my birthday I know what I’m splurging on
How's the texture of the material if you only put one sheet directly on it to write? I always have to put more sheets behind the page I'm writing on because of materials having textures.

the multi ruler with wholes are so useful, back in elementery and middle school, we used to each own a set of geometrical rullers, protractors and compases, this ruller is all in one and without the maintenance.
The multi ruler might come in handy for creating guidelines for calligraphy practice. The stapleless stapler is next on the list for me since I find myself handling lot of papers from printed itineraries these days (I'm a tour guide), it seem more eco friendly and hazard free (corrosion is a real thing if you live in high humidity climate). Lastly, I really dig the voice of the narrator, sorry I don't know your name.
all the rulers seem like super useful to have! i also think the stapleless stapler is great, i had heard of it before. The clipboard is also so simple yet so effective!
The first time I saw the staple-less stapler, I was so amazed. You don't need those metal thingies around plus no need to remove them. I had to find one in a stationery shop. Bought something similar to the sticky notes style markers as well. I love the design and quality of Japanese stationery and supplies.
Very interesting! Rulers are usually not marked from the very end because the edges tend to fray and get damaged.I used a steel Japanese ruler for many, many years, and eventually, it too wore out, and I had to start measuring from the 1 cm mark
japan is a heaven for retrofuturism. in this digital age we rarely require these supplies (at leat I dont) but japan has the all necessary supplies with higher functionality.
Stapleless stapler definitely put me in awe! That's definitely an invention I didn't know I needed when it comes to filing but needing to throw them away after an X amount of years
Magflap and staple-less stapler are cool. Kokuyo ruler is good. The other rulers have moving parts made out of plastic. Moving parts + plastic = breaks quickly. I don't have much use for bookmarks or sticky notes.
I have the Sun-Star Stickyle Pen-Style Stapler and LOVE it. For several years I did administrative work out of a tote bag in a remote location. It was so useful to have a real stapler that was the size of a pen or pencil.
Computer Engineering student here, the staple less stapler and the magnetic clipboard are more than favourites to me. I used to have a cheapo mag clipboard and thet thing was a life saver.
The Stapleless Stapler is a very practical one; I had a much cheaper one that was given out freely at some conference, and used it for years until the sharp edge dulled too much and couldn't punch through paper anymore. It was a novelty of the time, but I got good mileage out of the cheap one I got for free. I should consider the Japanese version for smaller paper sets. As for the Protractor Ruler, I recall those being half-gimmick half-functional items sold in the early 00s as school supplies. I had one similar, but the issue with it was that it didn't have a smooth straight-edge; having a curved dip where both ends meet when straightened out. It also didn't protract very well, since it slid pretty loosely. The Japanese version fixes all the issues with the basic one I had except for the arcs, which the version I had did a great job of doing (but in inches).
When I was in the behavioral hospital, they used that staple-less stapler for the packets they would hand out so the patients couldn’t get their hands on sharp staples. It’s pretty smart
I used the Midori bendable ruler. Loved it and it's quite space saving. And the sticky notes stack is also great, especially if you are annotating a book.
I have this stapler and I love it! Makes recycling so much easier. My coworkers also loved it lol They would knock on my office and ask to use the stapler

I own a harinacs. It's super useful if you don't really mind some of the corners useless. Also, careful when pulling the document, esp. when they're stuck; the seams are not as strong as they look.
You don't have to think about removing regular staples before recycling either. I have yet to come across any recycling pipeline that says you have to get rid of plain staples. They have magnets in their processing line to get metal out.
I checked that site out, there’s a 0.28 pen, not only does it write so fine, but it’s a multi color pen 😳 Thought I’d never see a useful ‘rainbow pen’ (remember those giant pens with a dozen colors in it?) but there one is, seems to write finer than the .3 I currently write with, and comes with 3 different inks?
