To anyone who is interested, I used the Tamiya TS-15 Blue aerosol spray for this restoration. I had an absolute brain-fart and evidently missed out that step entirely!
Impressive dual restoration Jason!😍 I always apply any decal softener AFTER putting the decal where I want it. Surprised how many guys don't do it that way! In 30 years old model train making I have only had problems with old decals that became brittle due to air hitting them. Although you didn't have that problem I spray a light mist of Glosscoat across the decal on the sheet first and let dry. The decal is stiffer and it is one way to keep a larger decal from cracking or bending while applying it !
Yeah the Mr Mark Softer recommends applying a drop to the model prior to applying the decal but it sets very fast that way. I think i'll try applying after it's in position for my next attempt
Great job on both trucks Jason! I've always found a correlation between how large a decal is compared to the model you're applying it to and how much of a pain in the backside it is to get right lol, that's probably why a lot of these models and others like the Pickford's removal van weren't always perfect from the factory.
The wonky decal model looks like a factory error. No worries! In fact, I'm sure Matchbox neglected to add a few decals from time-to-time, and shipped those models out just the same. Interestingly, those would be worth more today in pristine condition than the ones with a complete set of decals. :)
I tried to remove it with a little force on one of the models but as it wouldn't budge I thought the modelling gods were giving me a sign and so left it in situ!
Hi Jason, you're lucky to find two with the back of the tanker still in situ...most I've seen have lost the back piece over the years. They look great 👍. Did you mix paints to colour match? If not what paint did you use for the bodies?
Hi Derrick, thanks for the comment its only now I realise that I haven't included the respray stage! It was a pre-mixed Tamiya rattle can as usual. This is just the standard gloss TS-15 Blue.
Hi mate good job! I myself have just got into restoring diecast cars I absolutely love beinofn things back to their former glory I've got a channel too it called HOULDENS DIECAST HOBBIES Take a look any feedback would be appreciated keep up the good work
Hi there! I like the results in your videos, you have given a lot of attention to detail. I would recommend a bit recording of the process of restoring/customising, lower volume on the music and describe the process a bit more maybe. Keep it up!

Yep, two "sweet" restos! Cheers!
Nice job! Decals have always been a real pain for me also. Well Done, though!

No problem face the wonky side to the wall.
Hi Jason, nice restoration on the two trucks. May I suggest you use a toothpick when putting on transfers in the future.
Looks like the same chassis as the Matchbox British Army truck

Hi Jason. Did you consider removing the end cap to dry the tank out? Another great video. Well done.
