    It would be so awesome to have you rebuild my 69xlch unfortunately I'm in NE Oklahoma. Thank you for all your amazing videos and the work you do. I seem to learn something new every time I get one popping up.

      Nothing is perfect, even a brand new high precision machining table or straight edge. Some are just a lot closer than others. Gotta know when good enough is good enough. Apparently 5 thou on the case warp is ok.

    As always I learned quite a few things. I just had this repair done by my local machinist. Nothing like breathing life back in to an old motor.

    I really dig this show. Its becoming one of my favorites. I enve some of these guys in a way... kind of makes me a little sad at times, to see what these guys have, parts and tools and knowledge. I be like struggling to get some random part and Tatro probably has gobs of'em, lol. Ken is no hack thats for sure, the real deal. I wouldn't hesitate to have him work on my machine.

    Nice weld, no bubbles. But the mill still needs cleani.... Oh, I give up!
    Merry Christmas Mr. Tatro!

    • @TatroMachine
      @TatroMachine  6 лет назад +2

      bubbles? not a chance. you only get bad welds if you don't spend the time to burn the crap out when you are welding. that is why spool guns don't work on harley aluminum. i keep the important parts clean, screw the rest.

    My old man showed me a trick years ago.keep a set if bolts, various sizes.with a dimple from a center drill to find center to center...just a helpful suggestion... I was horrible at finding centers on stuff like that..lol

      that only works when you have threads to work with. it would work good if you do.

    Definitely get some XXL shirts in other colors besides black and grey. The yellow looks good and so does the red. Made in USA is a plus.

    Do you locktite your helicoils? If so which thread locker do you use?

    • @rollthelosingdice
      @rollthelosingdice 6 лет назад

      I put red locktight on my coils.

    • @TatroMachine
      @TatroMachine  6 лет назад +4

      i don't use anything on helicoils. if you put them in correctly they stay put. spark plugs is where you have problems because of the carbon build up on the spark plug threads. loctite makes no difference on this problem. you need some kind of positive locking system on spark plugs and helicoils do not have one. most other inserts come out too.

    Tatro How do you bill your customers? Hourly? If so, what’s your shop rate generally? Keep the videos coming. Need something to occupy my time over the holidays.

      some by the job, some by the hour and some by what i think it is worth. all those free hours get mixed in. as for all those hours of video you watch for free, major lost income. no one said teaching made any money.

    Tatro on my 1970 this breather valve between primary and crank case is plugged with kind of JB weld glue. Can it stay like this or I should fix it and put working valve again? please advise

    • @TatroMachine
      @TatroMachine  3 года назад +1

      plug it. jb weld does not always seal these breather valves.

    You should modify your tripod center to a flat piece of metal heavy enough to be stable ( like a microphone stand) and get away from the three point stance that is giving you so much grief. Just a thought.

    I thought you said you were going to do a quick weld on that passage near the crank bearing on the first case half that you said had a check valve but still lets oil pass.

      Oh, I'm sorry, I thought when you said, "ok now this set of case is ALL Good To Go" ( at 1:22:36), you actually meant it. I guess I'm suppose to read your mind to know that "Good to go" meant something different.

    • @dannynoel993
      @dannynoel993 6 лет назад

      I understood it. You must listen.

    • @DOMAPOI
      @DOMAPOI 6 лет назад

      That's the problem, I did listen. When I hear someone say that something is "good to go" that ususlly means that they are finished with it and it's "good to go". I guess when Tatro says, "It's good to go" that's suppose to mean he still has more to do on it instead of actually meaning "it's good to go"! I guess what I should do is turn the sound completely off and just watch the work. That way I won't confuse what means one thing to most people means something completely different on this channel.

      He never said he was going to show us how to weld up that little hole just to do it.
