So sorry to hear about Tully. Our pets become furry members of our family whom aren't with us nearly long enough. Hugs from my family to yours. Take care!
I tore mine apart and painted it to have 50 years of work use. A guy on Ebay makes a camper for the bed. A little pricey but looks really good sitting in there.
Condolences and very sad to loose co-host of the show. I never lost a furry member of a family before, so I can only guess how heartbreaking it is. Me and my brother had to give away a hamster decades ago, and my father one day decided to "give away our dog", so we never knew what happened to him, but we did love him, and were heartbroken, but it certainly isn't the same as loosing a dog after ~15 years.
Oof, sorry to hear that. They never really leave your heart, though they're not here a long time. Definitely part of the family. Tully was such a sweet doggo, I miss her very much. It's getting easier now after some days. Thank you.
I felt an urgent need to share my life's story when I watched this video :) so here we go. We got the EazyRC Glacier truck that is basically a simpler/cheaper version of the K10. The all-in-one module is not great it eventually broke and it took ages to get the truck repaired under warranty. We (me and our 6 year old) found the suspension rather jumpy and stiff in the rear. Long story short - the truck is in the middle of a near-complete re-build. It is getting Hobbywing 1080 G2 (probably an overkill), got the Injora 66T motor, but I had to use the original pinion gear as the one that came with the motor was too small. Also - the car got oil shocks (a combination of parts from Injora shocks for fcx24 and some rcawd) with softer springs in the rear (to be tuned once the truck is in one piece again). If this all goes well, I may for the fun of it get the 2-speed gearbox for fcx18 with the motor and put it in. So yeah, all together about double the cost of the new truck. Not quite sure it makes much sense, but I want to learn how to to upgrades as I would like to get some nice 1:10 kit for myself. And our little girl really likes this little truck, so what father would I be if I would not do my best :)
Wow, that might be the most modded Glacier on the planet! Good motor choice. If you haven't bought the 1080 yet, you might consider the hobbywing 1625, which will still have more than enough current to run the 66T injora motor. It'll weigh less and fit in the car more easily too, though it only has a 5v2a BEC onboard. The 1060 sits between these two in size and cost, has a stronger drag brake than the 1625 and its BEC outputs 6v3a. Sounds like it'll be a great improvement on the original when done! I didn't overly like the EAZYRC Patriot here either, it's gears and electronics seem weak. Fms, on the other hand, is killing it!
@@RCTNT There are a few interesting Glacier (and K10) builds on RUclips indeed, but not many. I actually did already buy the 1080, but it was not butchered yet for the Glacier, and so I could keep it as an upgrade for the 1060 that is in the (yet to be gifted & unpacked) FTX Outback Tracker. What I would really like to improve with the Glacier is smoothness of the slow/medium speeds and also to be able to properly calibrate the steering. Do you know what kind of low speed modulation I might expect with the 1625? I went with 1080 as it is supposed to be really good. I am also going to get a better servo (ES08MA II - well at least I hope that it will be an improvement, can't find anything 'proper' somehow). Oh and - I hope that you will be getting the FMS fcx18 - once it shows up at your shores (sometimes late 2024 I guess, haha). As that car - after some tweaking of the suspension (or so I have seen online) looks quite scale and drives really well.
@matusknives the 1625 drives well enough but it's not as smooth as the 1060. There's another great esc to consider though, if you want small size, smoothness and a quieter motor: Carisma ARC-2. Similar specs to the WP-1080, but smaller. I featured it in my BRX01 video 🙂
I love all the 1/18th-ish scale FMS/Rochobby/EazyRC (same parent company) bodies. I'd be happy to get them all, as I think they are great molds and in the K10 in particular, great paint job as well... but I can't justify the pricing they've got when I look at their ultra scale 1/12th offerings that are usually on sale and cost just a third more than any of the 18ths, but with all the more detail and scale factor... Speaking of this, the Willys Jeep is at 140€ in Banggood these days. Seriously trying not to bite the bullet... My condolences on Tully, Craig!! So sad to lose a good friend. Sending out a big hug!
That jeep is cheap, eh? I'd not really looked closely at it before. I've got one on the way now, we'll take a look at it soon. Thanks for your thoughts on Tully. She is dearly missed.
@@RCTNT that was my thinking as well, great! Maybe a 50:50 split screen to check directly on the same spot (cam on tripod), maybe? Not sure, you'll figure out the best way, I'm sure. Enjoy the drive! ☺️
Calling all Tiny Truck builders and enthusiasts. I'm currently going on a rampage organizing all of my screws, parts, tools and so on. How do ya'll organize and store your hardware like esc's, motors and servos and such?
Home-made drawers for the bigger things (using marine ply and adjustable width drawer dividers), and for the electronics, suspension, wiring, and so on, I have a few stackable plastic tubs. Works well enough. Rigs themselves live on modular, stackable shelving.
@@RCTNT Yeah, I like to use yoga foam blocks on shelves for the rigs as well. Thanks for the ideas on the Home-made storage. I just happen to do woodworking on the side so....honestly can't believe I didn't even think of it. lol.

Thanks for sharing this, that's a nifty little truck, when I was a wee lad I would have given an awful lot to have a little RC truck like this to drive around. Fred and Dave from Dirt Every Day in Episode 83 took a mostly stock fullsize one of these up the Rubicon a couple years ago. It was very similar to this model, and it actually did surprisingly well. I don't think you guys can get MotortrendOnDemand down there anymore, so I don't know if you can watch the episode, but it was pretty good. Watching this little truck go is very much like how it was in that episode, which is really cool to see. There is nothing quite like a Scale truck that matches the fullsize it's based on. Very very neat! And those tires, this thing is worth buying just for those tires! Deepest condolences from our family to yours on the loss of Tully. It's hard losing a great friend like that.
It is a good looking model! FMS has been releasing some cool models. I first took notice of their Hilux because I have an old '87 and who doesn't like models of vehicles we have. Very sorry to hear about Tully ❤. We lost one of our cats last July and were just gutted. Our critters make their way into our daily routines and it's really hard and painful. My heart goes out to you man I hope you're getting along ok
The Hilux is pretty, yes! I nearly bought it instead of this but the Chevy was so pretty! They're making nice little models here, in both cases! Losing Tully was rough. Unexpected so soon. Lovely dog she was. Getting easier now after some days. Sorry about your cat and thank you.
Hi. Great reviews! I've tried taking off one of the front links. Seems to make no difference. Any suggestions? Thanks. Also, would I be able to splice the tail lights to the headlights?
I've removed the top right link on mine. Had a minor improvement in shock cycling-but really, they're cheap, friction units and there's not a lot of improvement to be had. Springs are too stiff in the front to yield much anyway. This one is probably a case of enjoying it for what it is unless you really want to start experimenting and replacing parts for optimisation. Splice wiring at your own risk. I just took a close look at the board and suspect there are different voltages for front to rear. Test the points with a multimeter to be sure before you combine them, at the least. This will save disappointing results! Thanks for watching my videos, Vince. Happy tinkering!
Could you recommend a longer steering shaft and longer rear axle shaft for this Red FMS K10 (or Glacier)? Maybe a full compatible axle set. I want to make the car wider, with the tires out of the body. Here in Brazil there is no hobbyshop.
I can't, off the top of my head, sorry. Maybe you could get wider wheel hex nuts or scx24 deep dish rims? I'm really not sure there, sorry. I haven't done the work on this car beyond the initial review yet. I'm sure there are folks on reddit.com/r/rccars and also the rcgroups forums who could help.
I gotta show ya this custom radiator I made for a stadium truck. Do you have a discord setup or anything? Been trying my hand at working with styrene and such to up my game.
So sorry for your losing Tully. Early man made the right decision taming wolves and the like all those millennia ago. Dogs certainly are intertwined with our societies. I know what it's like to have to give a dog up and also to loose one when their time comes. Right - the K10.. I may end up purchasing one. As has been mentioned EazyRC make the Glacier which is this truck without the Chevy licensing (plus a couple of other changes). That being said, one can peel off the Glacier sticker to reveal the Chevrolet tailgate ;). Speaking of EazyRC, I have their Patriot (1/18th Toyota Land Cruiser) - a lovely little trail truck IMHO.
Thank you for the kind words, I really miss my dog. The K10 is much nicer than the Patriot, by comparison (I've looked at the Patriot also - ruclips.net/video/GDD1ATrDGqk/видео.html ). The K10 and equivalent vehicles seem to be of a higher quality, for what it's worth. Nicer feel, better tires, better lighting control.. But the eazyrc stuff is definitely cheaper and may still be worth it. I love the choice we have with hard body rigs these days, the 1/12 to 1/24 scales have really taken off!
Bro is the truck still working . I was planning on buying one but cancelled my order after I saw a few people comment on getting their motors burned up instantly. How's your motor holding up?
It's still running. People will burn motors if they use a truck hard. It's over geared a little if you're towing or driving with a load on the bed. Still, replacement motors are cheap. It's fiddly to replace on this model but totally doable.
It is a great looking truck, yeah! I didn't know they'd discontinued it. For now at least, there are still plenty available on AliExpress and elsewhere. a.aliexpress.com/_mMmKeY4
