Vinny Matthew has a right to his opinion. I just feel his opinion is rooted in not completely accepting of our hair texture and ability to grow in it's most natural state. Let people live and be happy. If they want freeform locs let them have it. The stereotypes Vinny has about freeform locs shows his mind needs to be Free.

My hair has got me booked so many times because it was wild and free. Being free and confident is so freaking beautiful. If you ever hesitated, start locing your hair now. Good video 💯 I started my freeform after I was trying to get my wife to retwist my locs and she kept brushing me off lol. I’ve been rocking it and I’m digging the freedom. At first, with my manicured locs, I didn’t want to touch my hair and I was being extra careful bc I didn’t want to mess up the style, but I started to feel restricted with my own hair! I started the journey bc I wanted to express myself, not restrict myself. Much respect god, looking forward to more videos.

I’m thinking about starting over with my locs. The sides feel a little thicker and longer than the top of my head. Any advice or suggestions before I chop?.. I have videos posted.
I have a bit of an issue with self love too. I want to freeform but I feel like my hair wasn't made to do it. I have Jamaican roots on my dad's side, but I'm mixed with American too. Not all my hair is super coily or holds its shape well since I have a lot of straight hair too, which leaves me frustrated when my hair doesn't look like other freeformers' hair. But this is MY individual loc journey, not anyone else's, I enjoy listening to other freeformers talk as it gives me advice and motivation to keep pursuing my own journey. I just need to stop comparing my hair to others I guess

It's an up and down battle for a lot of us man. Especially when starting a journey like this. There's going to be days where you're like WTF am I doing and days where you take pride in being so free and not needing to care. What's beautiful is when you look back and get a sense of how far you've come. Your locs def wont look like anyone else's but I couldn't have said it better than @thekiddelirious - comparison truly is the thief of joy!! At his point and time in his life, he seems to care more about the opinion of other, thank about being confident in who he is. All of his reasoning were about things a person eventually stops caring about as they mature.. Freeforming's only attachment is the attachment to being Free. Everybody isn't ready for that. He'll look back at that video of himself one day and cringe lol
I’m not no hair wizard I could be wrong but I feel like you’re messing up ya freeforms by twisting with you fingers Bc your hair is twisting one direction( on its OWN ) and your fingers are twisting it the OTHER direction lol I hope you understand
Not necessarily, It'll come down to texture, how you treat it, etc. Finger twisting is a GREAT way to initially start your locs, especially if you'd like a bit of uniformity and control on the process early on. But when doing so there are some things to remember, just like TrA da Kid mentioned, you want to always finger twist in the same direction when you do so. Try not to worry about finger twisting everyday, it'll drive you crazy and can weaken the roots. I'd do so maybe every couple of days after a wash. As these sections start to mature into locs, you can start cutting back on finger twisting and freeform

Having a family to support and getting moved up in a white collar company, is hard to do with free form though, I may have to break my free form journey, it's unfortunate but Amerikkka, doesn't accept us like that, only so much do they accept, and again when you have a family to support it is not easy
